    The A100 did have siblings, namely the AS100, AC100, ASS100 (I kid you not!!) and the ACC100. I've had mates that have had the ACC100 and the ASS100.
    The A100 itself comes in 3 style versions: A100, A100-2 and A100-3. The A100-3 is the only one with metal fork shrouds, the predecessors all had rubber fork boots.
    A total of 8 colours were available, including what the parts manual labels as "Brack" (I kid you not!!). The word "Brack" is substituted for "Black" throughout the parts manual so does make reading it with a straight face difficult. Gold and very dark blue were available too.
    The AS100 is the "Sport" version of the A100-1 and has a chrome high level expansion-esk styled pipe on the left hand side at side panel height.
    The AC100 was the trail bike version with different gearing and the same chrome high level pipe.
    The ASS100 is the "super Sport" version of the A100-2. It had a 10.5 HP motor with a different disc valve profile. It had a high level left side pipe from the Suzuki T125 "Stinger".
    The ACC100 was the trail bike version with different gearing.
    The A100-2 had a similar gas tank style to the T80 and T125.
    The introduction of the TS100 killed off the AC100 and ACC100.
    The introduction of the GT100 in 1975 and then the spine framed GP100 version in 1976 killed off the AS100 and ASS100.
    There is actually a A100 racing kit consisting of a proper high level expansion chamber, racing profile disc valve, jets, etc. and other parts to transform any member of the A100 family into a café racer. It was issued to dealers to convert crate bikes into café racer specials or to sell to punters. Very rare to find.
    The short lived GT100 and the GP100 relegated the A100-3 into the 100cc commuter bike class, in competition with the Yamaha YB100 and CB100N. In time, not content with killing off the A100's sportier siblings, the GP100 soon took over the 100cc commuter role and the A100 went out of production.
    I have the A100 parts manual from my time working in a motorcycle shop many years ago. I save it from being thrown out during a clear out. I realised that to a future restorer and collector a parts manual (with exploded diagrams and descriptions) is too important to be chucked away.
    I collect and ride CZs so it is no use to myself. The only Suzuki I have is a GT550B.
    Do you want the A100 parts manual, if you still have the A100??

I have a quick question for you though I have2 stroke oil dripping from the carb? faulty oil pump perhaps? is there a check valve in the line somewhere? any ideas or thoughts thanks.

    Hiya, these videos have been invaluable to me for the past couple weeks. So, thank you. I picked up one of these (1976 A100) a couple weeks ago (I'm in the States). It came with no battery, no fuel line, plus some other small odds and ends missing or broken. He gave me a "spare" chinese carb. (I'm trying to revive the original Mikuni as I write this). I just got the Haynes manual today in mail, so I'm going over all of the electrics while I wait for battery to arrive. Hopefully I get it up and running in a week or two (once all my parts come in). Mostly it seems like everything is in pretty good shape and intact other than what I mentioned. The oil pump was immaculate. The compression seems pretty solid. I haven't pulled the piston yet, but I took the top off.
    Anyway, I have a question about the two random vent tubes running from the carburetor casing to the battery housing. Are they both for the carb? And, if yes, why do they run up? That seems weird to me. I also have some questions about part numbers. I may need to replace the choke plunger and I haven't been able to find one on ebay (and the Chinese one doesn't fit in the Mikuni-though I may be able to make it work). I'm just not sure what number or model this carb is (the number is very worn and I can't even tell if it's there). Do you have an inside scoop on where to find the mikuni carb parts (and numbers) individually for the A100? Any resources where I can find the part numbers as a list? I've been looking at cmsni.com and they have a good amount of stuff (and I'm putting together a list to order from them). But, they don't have the choke plunger, for example. And, really I'd just like to see if there are any other Mikuni choke plungers that may fit and look by part number.
    Thanks in advance.

      HI mate, the A100 is a great bike to cut your teeth on. It is so simple and once running they are a great little bike. Now for your questions the first one about the two tubes, these are just vents and can basically be piped anywhere. Just allow atmospheric pressure into the carb bowl. i stuck mine in the hole in the crankcase were the oil feed tube is.
      The second question about the choke plunger. You can get full carb kits cheap from a place called Jerry's cycles which are in America. Basically includes all the jets and things needed to rebuild the carb including the plunger. If i'm honest it's always good to get new jets and so on for the carb then you know it's all clean.
      Hope this helps you out and if you have any other questions just drop me a msg :)

    • @MotoActionADV
      @MotoActionADV 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It should be stamped on the steering tube at the front. Note it will not be a normal VIN like you are used to seeing with a car or modern bike. It is a short number starting with A100- and is more of a serial number.

    Hey mate very important question..... what oil do i use in gearbox/crankcase? obviously i use 2 stroke oil in the oil mixer tank, but dont i need to put other oil into the other part of the motor? thank you :)

    • @GingerGeordieBiker
      @GingerGeordieBiker  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah you ned oil in the gearbox/clutch half of the engine. I use 80w gear oil in mine, because it isn't used for engine lubrication/ cooling you can use oil which is used just to lub gears. Just take the small screw from the side of the engine under the filler. Fill the case until it runs out of this hole then refit everything.

    • @TobiasCat-p6b
      @TobiasCat-p6b หลายเดือนก่อน

      Most small Japanese bikes of this type use multi-grade engine oil. Some advise not to use a higher quality engine oil designed for cars the reason is they contain friction modifiers which cause clutch slippage. Never noticed any problems over the years, but a Honda CB750 definitely had the clutch slipping on hard acceleration. So gearbox oil: reasonably good car engine oil. Gearbox oil with an EP prefix will cause the clutch to drag in temperate climates.
      I have a beautiful 1969 chrome tank model of the A100. It simply is an amazing bike for the time. Just about 70mph. 110mpg on a good day. Always first or second kick starting. I'm sat in my unit looking at it now. If it was 250cc and around 120% larger, with modern suspension and lighting, I would buy a new one today.
      It was owned by a bike dealer in Yorkshire who was a reasonably successful road racer. The quality of the rebuild is stunning. It keeps all of the charm (patina) but is essentially a brand new bike. He even sourced the correct chrome wheel rims and spokes. Unfortunately, I have to put it up for sale. I bought a set of new piston rings. It didn't need them, but it made it the 'icing on the cake' as everything else is new.
      It's sat there since January as I can't bring myself to finalise the build and list it on eBay....
      I think I will do a short video to hopefully sell it to the family it came from.
      These sixties two-stroke bikes should have a race series all of their own. The Yamaha RD350 in early seventies, TLS drum brake would run rings around any tired-out Triumph 650/750 and sadly Norton's too.
      Nice videos GB!

    I had to make a cereal box gasket for the generator cover on my 2002 GSXR600 when I had to replace it due to 5 burnt out coils! I tried just leaving the old gasket there but it was pissing oil backwards onto my boot. It's someone else's to find in the future now as I traded it in for an MT09, which is why I came across your channel

      @GingerGeordieBiker  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well i can say you have good taste in bikes sir :P. Bloody great bike the MT. Nar i have had some people go at me for using these type of gasket, but if i'm honest these have lasted me longer then the proper ones.

      +Ginger Geordie Biker In my teens I had to rebuild a 70cc (was originally a 50cc but it had a bigger top end put on it) Honda motocross bike that for some reason every component on the engine had been undone and then just put back finger tight, that got cereal box gaskets all round and it worked a treat. Why would anyone criticise a cereal box gasket? What is the downside?

    • @GingerGeordieBiker
      @GingerGeordieBiker  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well i think it's just because most people see it as a bodge job. Water off a ducks back to me but it works for me it worked for my dad when he used to work on bikes. If the bike runs and there is no leaks i don't think there is any problem. Hell i have even made high compression gaskets from Aluminum foil before for cylinder heads.
