I hope this makes my trike 50cc scooter go faster I’d at least like to go 50 but I finally changed it to a 100cc jug and piston but it smokes because it’s to powerful for the 50cc head so I have to get a head and rocker arms and exhaust and it should stop smoking. But if it doesn’t I’m going to save and get the complete 80cc kit with everything right down to spacers and gaskets oh by the way it does 71 mph now but it’s smoking bad and it is almost new so I’m not going tear it up just going to get the right stuff and do it right.
Thumbs up, great video. I just bought a 2016 Tao Tao Quantum Tour 150. Any idea what size stock rollers comes with the scooter. I too am thinking 15g rollers would be best for my riding style.

Hello, I have a gy6 and have just changed the belt (very shredded) but wasnt able to take off the clutch or variator. case cover back on start up good, I usually idle high tire spinning ..but now seems to be taking off in like a low gear.... and eventually does get up to speed. just takes a while.. like counting seconds rather than gas and take off fast. is this similar? . any help would be appreciated.thank you
Hi Mike. Sounds like a lot of debris needs to be cleaned up. I suggest borrowing an impact wrench and removing the variator and clutch for easy cleaning. Thanks for watching!
Just recently bought a second hand sunl 150cc atv.when taking off I have to rev fairly high before it engages...other then that the motor runs awesome .in your opinion what would be the issue..thanks in advance.
@electronicsNmore Is this theory correct that after applying grease on round rollers in variator they don't able to roll properly and tends to slide which cause irregular flat sides. And these irregular flat sides causes vibrations on certain speed? Is it right?

Do not apply thread lock on nut .we have been playing with cvt drives for years never needed to use thread lock never had one come loose. Manufacturer does not have this on procedure on varatior replacement. Why are you recommending this additional step??
Randall Highsmith If you don't have an impact wrench, then I highly suggest using medium strength thread locker. I used it for years with no problems. If you don't want to use it, then dont.
Wait so are you supposed to hold onto the variator with your hands while you use the impact wrench? That sounds hella dangerous am I misunderstanding you?
All depends on the terrain, or if you want good fuel economy. 14-15gm is ideal for hilly areas, and 18gm is good for flat areas where fuel economy and highest top end speed is desired.
my 150cc the gear is engaging at idle, almost dropped on side when I started it up and wasn't on it. Now when I stop at lights and such, it still wants to engage and I have to literally hold it back. I never worked on these but I'm going to remove the cover to see what's going on... any suggestions on what to look for??
Is it right to apply greese/wax on rollers and in variator for smooth spinning of rollers in variator? Or will it make more issues after some time like dust attraction, vibrations etc ?
@@electronicsNmore Is this theory also correct that after applying grease on round rollers they don't able to roll properly and tends to slide which cause irregular flat sides. And these irregular flat sides causes vibrations on certain speed? Is it right?
I hear a loud rattling but only when the engine is revving down. Like as I let off the throttle as I approach a stop sign. The sound is not present when accelerating or idling, only when slowing down or coasting. Could this be caused by worn rollers? I initially thought I had a loose bolt somewhere that was jiggling but I can't find one anywhere.
wont 18g rollers be terrible on take off on a 50cc gy6 139qmb? mine has 5g rollers in in and it takes off ok but i ordered 4 g rollers for more take off.. i installed a new DLH racing variator and staggered my weights 5g 7g 5g 7g 5g 7g to get an over all average of 6g variation and it is slower on take off now so im going back to the 5g rollers until my 4g rollers come in a couple days.. im also going to install a 1500 rpm yellow racing clutch spring to help on launch.. im trying to find the best possible setup for 0 `to 30mph and pull a hill at a steady 20mph or better if possible.. i only weigh 170lbs .. what is your recomendation?
Lower weight rollers will cause the engine to rev a lot more before you start to move, and cause the rpm to be much higher at top speed. For best fuel economy, a heavier roller is best, but you lose speed on take off.
What about those people putting 18 g rollers in? I live in the mountains with lots of hills.. so would you put 4G rollers or 18g? I'm think of the 4G cause 0 to 35 is all that really matters as long as it can steady pull me up a hill doing at least 20 to 25..your thoughts on roller weights and driving up hills?
@@youngbuck22481 ,. The confusion here rests between 50cc and 150cc GY6 versions. 50cc scooters used weights around 5 grams and 150 around 15, that's just ballpark numbers I guess....
mate do a video on the boss getting stuck onto the shaft like my sym gts 250 and i am just kiling the thread on shaft the stupid boss is stuck on shaft and the other side of the rollers is stuck on thee other side of the bos its a nightmare please help me
What happens if you don't tighten the belt enough at the end? Could that cause the belt to slip and very loud noises from the variator. Because that's what's happening to me.
@@electronicsNmore Any idea what could cause the loud squealing noise. I was playing with the roller weights. Went with heavier first. Everything was ok, but scoot was slower. Went with a bit lighter expecting good results and the squealing started. Doesn't make any sense?
Ik I’m 2 years late but I didn’t tighten mine enough it came loose I lost power and the end of my cranks shaft it slightly damaged but not enough to need to be changed thank god
electronicsNmore Hello, thank you very much. Now I feel tha my scooter have all the rpoblems you describe in your videos xD. Carb problems, and CVT problems, it seems that theengine is in good shape cause there is almost no smoke an turns on in one touch. BTW. I have that metal-to-metal noise you describe, the loose belt and all-the-time closed clutch. when the bike is up in the stand the wheel always spins. even at idle. well... I bough a second hand hybrid Yamaha majesty YP250 1998 with a 2007 GY6 150CC Engine (external case is almost identical to yours). its too much to ask for that oldie. Thank you very much for the tips and the videos. If you have any other sugestion, please, leave it. My bike will thank you xD
electronicsNmore Any way. Whats the top speed of your bike?. mine is 50mph (if I want to reach 51 I need to push it by foot xD), as soon as it smels any hill it goes down to 30mph.. Maybe a cluch or carb or both problem. I will open it up the next week. Thank you in advance
***** Hello. I lived on an island which had many hills. The best setup for my bike was 15 gram rollers and 1500 rpm springs. I had good performance up hills. You can also have a carb problem, or low compression.
+electronicsNmore Hello, It´s me again. Thank you very much, really helpfull. When I turn by hand the engine variator fast I need to apply very much force to make it turn when the piston is at the compression stage, but!, when I turn the variator very slowly, the engine offers almos no resistance to turn. Can be that a sign of a compression leak? thank you in advance!

All depends on the terrain, or if you want good fuel economy. 14-15gm is ideal for hilly areas, and 18gm is good for flat areas where fuel economy and highest top end speed is desired.
What is a good roller weight for hilly roads?
The performance kit I ordered came with 5gran rollers should I order 15gram rollers instead?
The engine will rev like crazy before moving using weights that light.
my 150cc the gear is engaging at idle, almost dropped on side when I started it up and wasn't on it. Now when I stop at lights and such, it still wants to engage and I have to literally hold it back. I never worked on these but I'm going to remove the cover to see what's going on... any suggestions on what to look for??
Has the engine RPM increased at idle from the norm?
What performance racing rollers do you recommend for 250cc gy6
Sliders are good.
Would 15gm weight roller work on a rx50 wolf scooter. Same belt case as this one
It will work, but how it accelerates and top end speed/engine RPM will change if the weight is different than what's installed.
really usefull video...thank you

Is it right to apply greese/wax on rollers and in variator for smooth spinning of rollers in variator?
Or will it make more issues after some time like dust attraction, vibrations etc ?
No oil or grease
@@electronicsNmore why not? What issues will come?
@@Sidg2 Could get thrown all over the belt and make it slip.
@@electronicsNmore Is this theory also correct that after applying grease on round rollers they don't able to roll properly and tends to slide which cause irregular flat sides. And these irregular flat sides causes vibrations on certain speed? Is it right?
What are the 1500 r.p.m springs for? Help Please!
Sets when the clutch shoes push outward to engage the clutch to make the rear wheel rotate.
You need to pinpoint the location.
hello i have a 150cc chinese scooter , it only goes 85km/h , getting lighter rollers will make it faster ?
No, heavier rollers tend to give a higher top speed, and better fuel economy.
I replace my variator and put on a new belt following these steps but now the scooter won't start. Variator and belt rotate but doesn't start
You definitely touched something else.
I've seen variator kits with 3 small springs in it what are they used for?
+Blaq IVen
Those springs go in the clutch.
I don't understand why they would be in that kit do those go bad when variator does?
GREAT INFO,THANK YOU

What is the torque settings for the variator and clutch nuts ?
All specs can be found online in GY6 manuals. Thanks for watching!
wont 18g rollers be terrible on take off on a 50cc gy6 139qmb?
mine has 5g rollers in in and it takes off ok but i ordered 4 g rollers for more take off.. i installed a new DLH racing variator and staggered my weights 5g 7g 5g 7g 5g 7g to get an over all average of 6g variation and it is slower on take off now so im going back to the 5g rollers until my 4g rollers come in a couple days.. im also going to install a 1500 rpm yellow racing clutch spring to help on launch.. im trying to find the best possible setup for 0 `to 30mph and pull a hill at a steady 20mph or better if possible.. i only weigh 170lbs .. what is your recomendation?
50cc scooters used weights around 5 grams and 150 around 15, that's just ballpark numbers I guess....
mate do a video on the boss getting stuck onto the shaft like my sym gts 250 and i am just kiling the thread on shaft the stupid boss is stuck on shaft and the other side of the rollers is stuck on thee other side of the bos its a nightmare please help me
That sure is a nightmare. I sold my scooter. :-(
What happens if you don't tighten the belt enough at the end? Could that cause the belt to slip and very loud noises from the variator. Because that's what's happening to me.
The belt tightens automatically if the variator/clutch is working properly, with the correct size belt installed.
I would’ve had liked to see how you unscrewed the bolts in the video that was not shown
What weight roller would I use in a 50cc Taotao scooter?
It's personal preference. First remove one that's installed and weigh it.
@@electronicsNmore thank you for answering.
Hi
my stock variator roller size is 20x15mm 18g, Can I use 18x14 16g ?
No, it will rattle too much. Use the same size it came with.
Quick question, what if you don't have the same variator plate? Instead of it being smooth it has teeth.
Never saw one with teeth.
Im trying to upgrade my cvt but the back plate that holds the rollers in is stuck on the shaft..how can I remove it?
If you have the entire assembly in your hand, carefully inspect it for retaining clips. If none seen, then you'll need to carefully pry it apart.
@@electronicsNmore finally got it! Thanks for the reply.
Hello, the belt need to be that tight? mine is a little bit loose. Thanks
+Jesus Palacios (JPdrums)
If your belt is loose, then you may have the wrong size belt installed, or the clutch pulley is faulty.
electronicsNmore Hello, thank you very much.

Hello.
Sir i put grease on the side of those rollers. Will that b okay??
Bad idea. Use a very thin dusting of graphite powder for locks.
Why is that
Ok I had my drive belt out in but after it drove slow in the beginning then would pick up speed and did this every time I stoped can someone help me with this ?
Thanks big help
