How fitting, I remember meeting Dave in elementary school. He was wearing a David Bowie shirt and it was before Bowie's big comeback. His musical talents shined through even then like an exploding sun, so glad he got to share his gifts with the world. RIP
Still love these guys after 30 years! (Yes I'm old) First saw them touring Empty, back in '95 where they opened for KMFDM. Got all of my friends hooked on GLU. Was crushed when I found out about David. I will listen to this band until I'm dead in 40 years.
I really enjoyed this song a lot when I first head it, oh so many years ago... was it right before up off the floor? Ah, high school memories. RIP Dave.
David Reilly died unexpectedly at 5:15am on October 16, 2005 from complications of a coma brought on by pain medication for an abscessed tooth. He was 34 years old.
this is an excellent cover! i remember when i first heard it over a decade ago i thought it was a marilyn manson cover for the longest time. i mean, he worships david bowie...and this song sounds like it could easily have been on the mechanical animals album.
Damn I love this song, both versions. God Lives Underwater was an amazing band, technically brilliant and far ahead of their time. Dave's singing is uniquely awesome. Too bad he had to die so soon, they would have been great (not that they weren't already).
@gymnasticsbrittany The song doesn't seem to be available on iTunes. I have the MP3 somewhere on one of my computers, but I don't know where you can get it for sale. There are music extractor programs where you can pull the music from the video, but I've never done that before. Sorry! Maybe you can find the sountdtrack on ebay or half.com for cheap and rip it to MP3.
is this really Gretchen's son? Billy, right? i have a photo of just me and your uncle sitting in a diner in philadephia. i spent enough time with your uncle and shared some very dark moments with him. anyway, if you would like to talk about dave with me, im always up for it. if you have facebook, send a friend request to Max Moonrock and we will talk. take care.
I'd have to disagree. I always felt that the original wasn't much more than it's beat and bassline. if it had been at all different, I wouldn't have liked it at all. GLU took that same beat and bassline, and changed the beat just enough to match their style. I'd even go so far as to say it maintains the attitude of the original, but like I said, I didn't think all that much of the original in the first place.

Amazing...loved God Lives Underwater back in the day...this is a jam (had no idea it existed). RIP Dave.

Good ol GLU from back in the 90s and my neck of the woods. I miss hanging out with them. RIP Dave
I love America. No one is responsible for what they do.
I cant believe this song wasn't released as a single at the time 15 Minutes came out in 2001 and no radio airplay here in the United States
forgot about this band up until a drinking reminiscent of my teens. Such a great band! well ahead of they're time!

I was there. He is my beloved cousin. We spent a lot of time together even though I was 15 years older than him as we both had a passion for music.
I never thought anyone could do it better than Bowie but DAMN!
Rene' Blackwell well Bowie's 97 version was eh
Omg... I love you David! RIP!

great cover from a killer band... and an ok movie. RIP David.
Brilliant band, hands down! Fuckin' hooking-up riffs! Magnificent kick-ass synthesis of electronic/techno and hard-riffing guitar!

Both versions?
@@BusinessZeus This is a cover of the David Bowie song.
@@rars0n I knew that.
@@BusinessZeus So why did you ask?
i ordered David Reilly's solo EP "Inside" while he was still alive and it arrived after he died...damn the mail sucks.
Underrated movie and underrated song
I didnt know this remake was part of a movie. I've loved this version for a long time too, and all of GLU's other work.

Amazon has the soundtrack, many sellers selling it for less than $5. At the very least, you get this song for cheap.
if you want to put it on your ipod convert this video into an mp3 file then put it in your itunes file then download it in your ipod.
