I was just thinking of Pentangle the other day, and here I am without searching for it. The algorithm is scary sometimes.

It’s an obscure quest; but if you’re searching for the most talented group of musicians that nobody ever heard of, your search is over. I’ve been a fan for well over 50 years, thank you for sharing this performance.

"... nobody ever heard of...": are you serious? These are/were some of the most well known and well respected musicians in British rock history. When Burt Jansch died, BBC Radio4 even had Robert Peston on the obituary, talking about his love of Jansch's music.

My sincerest apologies: I had completely forgotten that Americans think that everybody outside their own country is a "nobody". My mistake entirely.

I discovered pentangle after listening to an interview with Jerry where he talks about how great they where. The actually opened for the dead at the acidic Fillmore feb 1969 shows, that became the Live Dead album. They also influenced the dead’s approach to playing acoustic and their version of “lady of Carlisle” influenced the deads “Terrapin Station”

It's a fine performance but feels rushed. The original arrangement of this old 45 was sort of dark and spooky. it was a very strange sounding record for its time yet became a big hit. The B side was an instrumental of the A side and it was recorded by The Jaynettes on Tuff Records.
