I GO BACK TO 1960S C&W music, but the 90s has a special place for me bcuz that is when I started watching "The Country Channel" that had 24/7 music videos like this one! Around the same time I started 2-step dancing and I became an accomplished dancer for a few years! It was a TON of...FUN!
@@mr.blackhawk142 It's Funny (Ironic) - I was thinking the VERY same thing - '90's Country is NOW "old school" - most folks probably don't even know that Crowell "came of age" playing in Emmy Lou Harris' "Hot Band" in the late 1970's .... Having said that - I will BET that Tom Clark would definitely be a GOOD candidate for the REAL Stuff - IF - he ever heard IT !!! ......Maybe have to be good and DRUNK tho !!! .....or be someone prone to RHYTHM ....or pedal steel...or fiddle or ???
I have always loved this guy, he's one of the best singer/songwriters ever. So sorry he and Roseann couldn't make it but that's life. He's so cute here.
Rodney Crowell was never an artist to offer quantity over quality and was a standard who brought the best to the musical community. And as the story unfolded in the video you would love everything he made, Rodney Crowell is one one of my all time favorites.
i appreciate the original sounds if country where the women and men could write, and nearly play every instrument. nothing like today's and nothing like barbara mandrell or roy clark. dont get me wrong George Strait is great too but most country entertainers let go of that genre long ago. Miranda Lambert writes, sings, plays more than one instrument. I feel the rest have just been conditioned and left the humble and grass roots of where traditional and classic came from. This new age will never know stuttering mel ( stopped when he sang), haggard, Conway, roy clark, earl thomas conoley, those songs back then had meaning and spoke the truth. i am from texas. you can privately text me if possible. i am not one to give out personal profile. if you dont mind you can give me yours first. thanks.

These were the days & hopefully they will come again, but I doubt it. This is a Country Song & it tells a story. It's not Hip Hop, RAP, Horseshit, Heavy Metal or anything else, but Country. And it will be played for the next few hundred years. The stuff played on Radio today, won't be played again next month & maybe never again, EVER. That speaks volumes about it's real worth... @Rodney Crowell doing about the same as every day, OK but wishing I was born in 1950 instead of 1969 . I just loved the old time music and the old style farming. I still run my little farm with my grandfather's farmall 200 and my great uncle's old farm equipment.
I've been listening to this song for 30 years. It doesn't age. It's as good in 2024 as it was when released in 1986. The lyrics, the harmony, the instrumentation, and the people having a good time. Darn it, this is what great country music sounds like, and it's what most so-called country stations rarely play.

My favorite song from a flat out country masterpiece, "Diamonds and Dirt" that I've played hundreds upon hundreds of times and simply never tire of. Rarely are albums this fresh and consistently superb. With 5 country number one hits (a record back in '88), and a grammy, and album tracks that are just as great as the singles. Rodney Crowell at a dizzying peak of genius, and it hasn't aged one bit. A perfect blend of danceable, high energy country, and stark, emotionally complex, deeply intelligent love songs.

A #1 hit for Rodney Crowell on the Country & Western charts. It was the 918th #1 C&W song of the Rock Era.
