Both are real country singers who stayed true to their roots. Think I have everything g Dwight recorded. Great cycling music iride thousands of miles of Country roads ripping Dwight
Tonight my husband and I caught his performance at the Mucky Duck in Houston. He regaled the audience with his funny stories and his strong voice. He sang a moving bilingual (English and Spanish) version of the lullaby he wrote years ago for his son as a tribute to the boys and girls and their teachers who were gunned down in Uvalde. What a warm, talented and compassionate human.
@@clawedcat1967 I agree. Garth Brooks is good entertainer, but a lousy musician. People who like him don't have the brains to distinguish entertainment from musicianship. On the other hand, Garth gets to laugh all the way to the bank, so I admire him for that.
Oh yeah, take me back to my ROCK'N ROLL BAND DAYS...WELL, ME BEING FROM EAST TEXAS... LOVE MY COUNTRY BOY ROOTS...🤠👍 "CALL ME "LONTE-SOME" AWESOME TUNE RADNEY...!!!!!🤩
As I recall this song and video came out in 1991 or 1992. I met my wife in 2001 and in 2003 we went to a little country bar in Nashville, TN after attending the IndyCar race at the speedway just outside of downtown. I asked the band if they could play Just Call Me Lonesome and when the band looked at me as if I was crazy 😜 I had to sing the chorus to them: Just call me lonesome Heart broke 💔and then some 'Cause I ain't got no one Since you been gone And the bassist looked at me and said "Yeah! I know that song! Follow my lead." They did a good cover and I danced with my lady and she asked me "Why do you want to dance to THIS song?" and I told her I remembered this video and I thought 💭 the musicians in Nashville would know it. Sorry Radney wasn't a giant star ⭐ but it's a good song 👍🏻
A friend suggested I listen to this guy named Radney ?, which I had no clue of… But WOW, this guys voice and delivery is great and I am really surprised I never saw his music over the last few years ?? Doesn’t matter, I’ll find more now.
Friggin’ Luke Bryan. Nothing but formula songs. Simply make it about what ditzy 21-year-old girls will say “WOOOO!” to when they’re drunk Beer - WOOOO! Pickup - WOOOO! Party - WOOOO! Jar fulla clear - WOOOO! A lot like Alabama’s music.
I think this song means . He thought everything was going great . Until it wasn't . He's lonely all the time . He cherished her so much . And now he thinks of a time . When their love was forever . Just Call Me Lonesome
Same for me. Heard it while driving on a dirt lumber road in Oregon with my dad 1000 yrs ago. This and Narvel Felts "Somebody Hold Me". They have been the core of musical being ever since
The motel shown at 2:50 has since been renamed and was where I stayed Thursday, March 12, 2020. The last night before the world shut down in my area. It's a neat little motel, and it makes me feel all the more lonesome seeing it during quarantine. Maybe I can return next year...
Now this is what country music should be....not that CRAP you hear on the radio today.....where have we gone wrong, Johnny Cash, George Jones, E.T., Willie, Gene Watson, Merle, Alan Jackson, Hank Sr, and they have the GALL to call that stuff on the radio COUNTRY......
I grew up right down the street from Radney in Del Rio and have known his family all my life. Really fine people. His talent is amazing. I actually remember when he was born. His dad’s law office was about a half block from our jewelry store and I walked past it every day when I would walk to the store from school. One day when I was walking past it there was a note taped to the office’s front door. Of course, I stopped to read it and it was the announcement of Radney’s birth that his dad Johnny had put on the door!
Why? Their sounds are different: Bakersfield (with a real, Kentucky hillbilly twang) vs [1980's] Nashville. (And Dwight's career started two years before Radney's.)
Thanx to Radney Foster & band for Your Awesome music. Gave country the neccessary injection it needed cause it had been bland & kinda stale. Your Del Rio 1959 will be a hallmark, a klassik 50 yrs from now. It's in my music collection. Thanx!
I was in another room when this song started, I thought it was Dwight Yoakum, I was surprised it was Radney Foster, Close sounding to Dwight on this song "Only this song so far that I've heard" I Love Radney's sound.
I remember hearing this song when I was a kid, back when country music was country music, now! Country sounds like pop music, it started to change since 1998 or 1999.
His voice and even the way he kinda dances with his guitar remind me a lot of Dwight Yoakum
yeah. thats what i was thinkig. hes good
Who’s listening 2024
I never understood why he didn't take off. I think he is still playing shows though. Peace, Love!!
Me
Me, first time hearing it. Love it!
Man I like this guy!
Me, I pretty much hate country music but this is gold. Remember when it used to be country/western? I think I prefer the western.
This was the era of country music. Two steppin’ and line dancing! The best of times!
Are you the real kieth Richard?
Yes I can remember wish it was back I use to burn the floors up
And the best lyrics to the songs too. The 90s were the very best of country music hands down.
Damn skippy it was.🤙🏽
One of the most underrated country singers ever. Loved him then love him now.
For damn sure, lol.
would love to hear radney foster and dwight yokam together, that would be a great show.
I totally agree.

I was just about to say this guy is just like Dwight Yoakam but with glasses and no hat.
You have a good ear. They would sound something like the Every Brothers
I dont know how Radney Foster didn't become a huge star -- all of his songs are awesome, and so country! ♡
He didn't "kiss-ass"!!! Plus, he's from Texas!!!
My first suspicion that Darius Rucker had some country in him. I was watching a Hootie performance and Darius was wearing a Radney Foster hat.
One of his best songs
He didn't have "The look".
@@minoutv885 you know not of what you speak. Texas is the greatest music state. PERIOD!
One of my favorite songs! The way country music should sound!
Raymond Daniels yep with meaningful lyrics and that steel guitar
I agree! So much better back then.
Yes it sure sounds country music
Love this
Not really. This song is influenced by southern rock, and the singer's voice lacks authority.

Marielle Martin this fantastic era of country music was ruined by Garth Brooks.

You want to hear Bradley Foster just listening to White yoakam and Buck Owens
he didnt sell his soul to Hollyweird
This man put out some great music.
Radney definitely had it going on! 😎👍
One of the few perfect country songs.
"perfect?"
I agree it's perfect another perfect song by him is half of my mistakes and of course nobody wins

Great song, great lyrics. "....now you only call me someone you once knew."
I've probably seen Radney live in Dallas 15 times over the years. Always a good show and a good time. If you like this song, you will love the rest!
2 years later and listening again!
Holy cow. I haven't heard or seen him in years. One minute he was kicking out great tunes then he was gone. Glad this popped up.
Good ol Country Song ❤️ loving this!!
Love the buddy Holly vibe
