Put the left over vanilla bean pod in a jar of sugar once it dries a little bit .........in a few weeks you will have a beautiful vanilla flavored sugar
Can confirm, the difference in the ratio is the lack of artificial / modern sweeteners. When you make soda the old school way it definitely needs more syrup. ❤ Great video!
Yes, I think I meant to say ‘usually’! 😂🥴 Seem like it tastes a lot more refreshing with just the sugar - less of a chemically aftertaste. Thanks for watching!
Check out the cinnamon at the Indian markets .....the spices in general are way higher quality than a grocery store and often very cheap in comparison. Cost fortune for a couple stale fake cinnamon sticks in glass jar
I noticed the spices I bought locally vs the ones bought from mainstream grocery stores tasted way better! I’ll have to check out the cinnamon! I love a strong cinnamon taste, and you are right about the sticks seeming stale. Thanks for the advice, and thanks for watching!!!
@@curiouscreatures.and.creations the sticks at the store are cassia which is arguably faux cinnamon or not a true cinnamon according to some....there are 3 or 4 different trees produce a product hey call cinnamon. The heavy rugged darker looking stuff is usually the primo stuff.Often they have a couple types at Indian markets
I recently found out that cassia contains some naturally toxic chemicals. Only Ceylon cinnamon for me from now on. Plus, it tastes like cinnamon, not just in the neighborhood
Ah! I meant it as my lazy self was annoyed my usual grocery stops didn’t carry a spice as common as coriander and I had to go across town! Nothing to actually do with the shop! 😬😬
I think the differences between the Nuka syrup and more traditional syrup is that the Nuka has more water. Traditional syrups are reduced at lot more, down to a true sugar syrup with very little water at all still present (assuming a sugar baes instead of a corn syrup one). I'd imagine that the more you reduce the Nuka, the less tablespoons you would need.
I want to know if she shared this with her dance partner if he liked it, and if the Ice cream and soda using sugar got him as wired as modern sodas with corn syrup do? Nice video, please keep them coming.
Don’t worry, I definitely shared some with him! I can’t say I noticed much of a difference in behavior regarding sugar vs corn syrup, but it’s certainly a healthier alternative! Thanks for watching!
Just found your channel and love it so far! :) The float looks amazing :D Think I need to try that out, too. And a dumb question... what's browning sauce? Never heard of it and my translator doesn't help ^^''' All the best from Germany! :)
Thank you so much! The browning sauce isn’t a crucial ingredient; it’s mostly intended to give that traditional “cola” color. There are a lot of different brands with their own “browning sauce” that is made up of different ingredients, but it overall seems to be a type of caramelized liquid. If I were to remake this again, however, I would probably just substitute it with watered down molasses. 😊
@@curiouscreatures.and.creations Ah, that sounds amazing and molasses isn't hard to find here, too :D Thank you for that tip, I'll try that and will have a look for those browning sauces, too :) Maybe somewhen I get lucky. ^^ If it's just for coloring purposes, do you think food coloring would do the trick, too?
The reason it takes 5-7Tbsp is because the syrup you use for the Soda Stream has been boiled down to just that. A syrup. If you boil the Nuka Cola syrup down you can get the same result. It might be an idea to try. I'd love to know what you find if you do it. You seem like a natural at doing recipes. I think if you concentrated on that with the pop culture twist, you might have a great prosperous channel.
ive made Nuka Cola from this book a few times. i always feel like it could use more citrus juice. still like it and now i want to try to make this using a ginger bug to get a natural fermented Nuka Cola
That’s a really good idea - I’m curious how that would taste! You’re definitely right, however, it needs more citrus; especially for a drink that’s technically supposed to be made up of 17 different fruits! I think there is a lot of room for improvement with the recipe that’s in the book. Thanks for watching!
I got a question: can u use the Nuka cola Syrup into the ice cream recipe or u need the soda for it, I’m confused about it, can someone tell me how to do it right?
I haven’t tried adding the syrup to the ice cream, so I can’t say if it will work or not, but the float is just the soda with the ice cream added to it, if that is what you’re confused about?
I did the same but before I made it I kept saying this cant be right.. and found a comment warning about the Gravy kind so I ended up ordering it on amazon its called Graces browning sauce and it worked fine!
As a child of the '60s, a real child (born in '57) I can tell you that traditionally, pop is made of corn syrup. I remember when they were ten to 11 cents. I can understand why you found that too sugary. Today's sweet grocery products are bland. I eat very little. Your video made me realize that too many of your generation don't know what homemade pie made from scratch. That makes me sad. Find a recipe online from the 50's that doesn't use cake mix or pie using fruit that's not from a can. Taste the difference from store brought. 😀
Yes! 🙂 But be careful eating anything labeled ‘cilantro seed’! I found, at least in my area, that that term is usually used for planting rather than eating, and the seeds can be treated with a chemical that isn’t safe for consumption!
@@curiouscreatures.and.creations Cilantro and cilantro seed are different beasts. Cilantro (culinary version) comes in spice jars and pouches, cilantro seeds come in seed packets.
That is... completely wrong. In the US, 'coriander' refers to the seed and 'cilantro' refers to the leaf of the plant. Outside the US, both are just called 'coriander'.
@Rangersly My father taught me to distinguish licorice from anise at arm's length, because he didn't want anise anywhere around. I dislike anise, too. *But* star anise is not that anise. It's yet another deluded misnomer, like mountain apples aren't apples, and neither are pineapples. Look at what she throws in the pot. That's no part of an anise plant. They are only dimly alike in taste. I throw it in tea all the time. Give it a go!
This video was on my recommend page and I'm glad it was! very cute video. i could go for a nuka cola float now!
Thanks for watching!

Your smoke alarm battery needs changing 😂
I know 😬😂😂
Right as I heard it, I went to comments and saw this was the top comment LOL! Good video though. It looks like the nuka cola turned out well!
I had to pause the video and walk around to see if if it was one of mine lol
that darned ceiling bird...
Ghetto Cricket 😆
Seriously went mad looking for which smoke alarm was beeping in my place. That was annoying, but great content! Bottled nuka-cola is always great.
Oh no, sorry about that!! I got too caught up in filming that I didn’t even realize it was chirping. 😅 Thanks for watching, though!

For the coriander, you "ended up HAVING TO GO TO a local Indian market"... ugggh. I hope they didn't bite you while you were there. 😂

lol, took me back to old school tv commercials, loved the opening, a well deserved like 😃
Glad you enjoyed it!! Thanks for watching!!!
Artificial sweeteners but also the flavorants being used at the commercial syrup plant are more concentrated
I love that you combined both bottle designs by gluing plastic fins onto a coke bottle its great xD

For those people not able to find coriander seed, it's also called Cilantro.

Wrong. Cilantro is the leafy green stuff that grows from the coriander(seed). One is an herb, the other is a spice.
