Hi, I believe you have the type 2. Types: There are at least 4 different castings: type 1 has Stanley's script trademark on the front and Bodmer's patent 5/14/1912 on the back. Type 2 has the same markings but both on the front. Type 3 has the Stanley logo and the model number on the front, both in notched boxes, type 4 has the Stanley logo boxed but the model number not. Enjoy your videos great job. Kind regards Stephen

Outstanding run through on what can be a maddeningly fussy plane to set up and use correctly. I can say from personal experience and initial failures at getting square edges that the following is true: assuming proper set up and an even blade grind and projection and assuming a flat reference face, this tool is then about finding your unique hands placement and resultant pressure points without which you cannot hope to achieve success. It will require much practice to figure out this hand (and finger) placement!!!!! Everyones hands are different…….

Picked up a very nice type 1A or 2 with a sweetheart iron. It has the border Stanley logo. Maybe the 1A is that logo with iron. Thank you for the video. Really hit the spot. I’m thinking of this plane as a follow up after jointing with plane. Sort of a how I’m doing squaring checkup. Maybe for narrow boards that are difficult to balance a block plane on and be sure of squareness.

That’s a great use for it.

I just ordered the L/R pair of Veritas copies to cut down on sanding time on new cabinet doors, particularly on the joint ends. Really looking forward to it.

Is the Stanley 95 has a right and left handed version like the Veritas?

I don’t believe Stanley had a left handed version.
