ANIME Impulse アニメ インパルス tbh I’d give some to Alphonse from FMA even thought he can’t eat them
Ingredients list for easy reference.
Vanilla Dough;
100g cake flour
1/2 beaten egg
2.5tbsp sugar
50g unsalted butter
1/4tsp vanilla extract
Chocolate Dough;
85g cake flour
15g coca powder
1/2 beaten egg
2.5tbsp sugar
50g unsalted butter
1/4tsp vanilla extract
340*F for 15 minutes
Cream butter and sugar, slowly mix in egg, sift in dry then fold. Shape into rectangle logs at a ratio of 1x3 on the short end, wrap in saran wrap, and freeze 30 minutes. Cut into thirds and layer in two sets of alternating colors. Freeze again 15 minutes and cut into thirds again. Form the checkerboard with the pieces and press with saran wrap into a square long. Slice thin and bake. These cookies will not rise much.
This was really cute to watch! Sadly don’t have anyone for Valentine’s Day besides family but who knows, maybe next year!

I made these for myself become my own valentine.
I think you did a great job with the recipe, it's enough for me as a home baker to run with and make really nice looking cookies and also that was fun! I want to celebrate white day now... if I had someone to give cookies too. Lol might just have to go to the homies, but I would love to see more baking content.
I did actually just make these! And they turned out surprisingly really well! I'm still eating them. Haha Getting the square shapes was rough, but I managed something presentable with a serving spatula and a bench scraper.

"japanese" checkerboard cookies? Sorry, but I am pretty sure they originate from central europe.
It is, but it's just that people (otakus/needs/weebs/etc.) usually associate it with Japan. Much like how hamburger (steak) is from Germany though people think of hamburger (the sandwich) from the US.
