I did understand it as I've read such stories of ancient times for many years...and I heard this poem maybe 30 years ago on a TV program and was much taken by it. But never knew the title or the poet so could never find it. And now...here you are. Thank you ever so much!

I fell in love with this poem after taking some courses on ancient greek literature. This is a very under-appreciated poem of WWI. But it was once quite famous. Thanks for watching!

Can't believe I haven't read this poem before! I was just *certain* you would read Wilfred Owen

Luke Ranieri over at Polymathy memorized the first 100 lines in ancient Greek; methinks you would like it.

Yes I love the Wilfred Owen poem. I need to do a video on that poem soon. Thanks for watching!

I read the Illiad and the Odyssey (had to look that spelling up thanks to that new website) back in High School in Texas in the mid=90s, actually! I didn't catch the reference because it's been too long. Thanks for clearing it up, love the channel.

Thanks for watching! And glad you liked this poem.
I’m glad to hear you read these classics in high school. They weren’t required reading only schools.
Also, I went to high school in Texas in the 90s! :)
