    Springsteen is splitting the money with his band members - making their golden years a little nicer for them. He's already set.

    I can promise Todd that almost every music artist he loves reveres Springsteen's songwriting and recordings. A quick glance at the massive number of artists who have covered his songs tells you all you need to know about his standing in the music community. I came of age with The Beatles and The Stones, and I'm always shocked at how shallow Todd's music appreciation is.

      Yes, because he doesn’t like the exact same stuff as you he is shallow. Lol Boomer

      @jonmcclane7433 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Most non Boomers don’t understand the Springsteen love. I like maybe half a dozen of his songs and know he’s a great songwriter but I’d rather listen to so many other artists.

      I used the wrong adjective to describe Fritzy's musical taste. It isn't shallow -- just surprisingly narrow. Boomers grew up on A.M. radio, where if we wanted to hear The Beatles and The Stones we also had to listen to Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong, Ray Charles and The Lettermen. That forced exposure to many genres of popular music broadened our taste for sure, and produced singer/songwriters like Springsteen whose recordings combine elements of pop, rock, blues and country in almost equal measures. If you want to know why they call him "The Boss," just check out the TH-cam video "Springsteen -- Cadillac Ranch live Tempe 1980" ... and thank me later.

    Hall and Oates plays festivals, Springsteen plays to sold out arenas.

    Selling saves money on taxes, because the sale goes as capital gains...whereas keeping it, he's taxed on royalties yearly as income.

    Comparing Hall and Oats to Springsteen is cringeworthy, and I kind of like Hall and Oats.

      Hall and Oates were very good, just not at the level of an icon or legend.

    Bruce Springsteen wrote some great songs but did you ever listen to the album Nebraska? It was awful. Nearly all the songs were the same tempo, repetitive and uninspiring. I bought that album and only listened to it once. His singing sounded as though he was drunk.

    I listened yesterday when Dan fixated on how much the buyout would be for Urban Meyer. Idiot. Who cares? NFL owners are playing with house money.
    On this subject, fixating again on the money. That’s not the point. Most of these aging artists are selling their catalogs so their offspring won’t have anything to fight over when they’re gone. It’ll just be cash divyed up. No battles. Makes sense. Dan says, “what’ll it be worth in 5 or 10 years?” Again, who cares? That’s not the reason most of these guys are selling. And the ones that are doing it for the money ain’t got long to live. Why wait?
    As for Fritzy’s musical taste, well, draw your own conclusions. Hall &Oates? Lol. Some great songs, no doubt. In the pop sense. But the sheer poetry of Springsteen’s early work alone rivals Dylan. Not to mention the volume. H&O haven’t exactly proved to be prolific. Ear candy, maybe. But hardly generationally significant.

      Your kiss is on my lips - versus - Racing in the Streets
      Rich Girl - versus - Incident on 57th Street
      Maneater - versus - Jungleland
      Fritzy is stuck in the 8th grade - never matured.

    there is a point in every old white rock legend when they stop singing and start grunting, growling, growling and yelling.
    bruce springsteen is the king of "old white guy" rock.
