There are so many overrated and underrated cards out there, but some day the nerds will be the most popular channel on youtube and then finally everything will be properly rated!
Ramunap Excavator has the upside of getting got by green sun's zenith and finale, so I would say they're almost even. It doesn't matter much since if you're playing one it's probably one of the best cards in your deck so you may as well play the other.
Evolution Sage is my favorite card in my Windgrace deck. I constantly have the threat of ultimating and blowing up 6 things. My opponents hate it! Lol Windgrace with this will never have less that 12 counters on him. It's ridiculous how fast you get 11 counters back
I just remade my Windgrace deck with that, turning that -3 into a -1 while reusing strip mine and crap like that! Or into a plus with fetches hahaha so good
Man Rishkar's Expertise is such a bomb. I wish I had specced into it a bit, because it was a 25 cent card not long ago. I remember telling people how great it was when it was in standard, like this absolutely won games for me in limited, and I kept pulling it in packs so I have like 5-6, including a Korean one which is pretty dope.
I’m gonna support you guys because I’ve been following since the beginning! Love seeing your base grow and the content get better and better. Much love !
Don't have Expropriate, but I have Walk the Aeons in my landfall deck instead and that's a game winner if there's no immediate answer. May have to get the former for one of my other decks though, it is a tasty card.
I agree with the doubling season assessment, I play my copy in Hapatra because the deck cares about counters and tokens and they're -1/-1 too so it's amazing there, but no other deck I have would want it.
Time for me to come into the comments and make my obligatory comment about yidris. I'm starting to feel a bit like a broken record, but my love for cascade is much too strong. Anyway, Riskar's Expertise is bananas. Draw (usually) 5 + cascade, then play a 5 drop from your hand + cascade again. Its a 6 mana 4 for 1 when you have your commander. Probably the best card in my deck.
I run ghave, guru of spores. The only doubler i have in the deck is doubling season. As i can take advantage of both aspects of doubling season to make my commander 4x more useful. that and it makes Liliana, Dreadhorde general go from just a one sided fecundity that occasionally barters in blood into an on curve 6 drop that if resolves just ends the game. I agree with the B- rating, most decks wont be able to use both effects at the same time. Superfriends, ghave, and marath are the decks i have in mind that get immediate use out of Doubling Season.
Instead of Ramunap or Crucible, if you're tight on ca$h, you can try Groundskeeper. It's a 1/1 for G, that has "1G: return a basic land from your graveyard to your hand". Of course not comparable but it's 0.08 €
zendikar resurgent does some work in my beledros deck but i totally agree mana doublers usually are way too slow and you also become a huge threat by playing them in beledros i only play zendikar resurgent if i get to untap all my lands with beledros in the same turn so that i at least get to use this right away
If you haven't done it yet, id love to see a short about all the cards better than exploding vegetables. I loved the one about 10 cards better than counterspell
Doubling Seasons is a A card for sure. without a doubt. Yes, maybe in a deck with tokens and counter but it amazing compared to all the other cards that can do something similar.
You're on the money. This one is just so incredibly powerful at best and very decent if it makes just one mana. I would never play Pyroblast even in mono red but this one is so worth the risk of not having it do anything.
Ya'll need cascade decks, lots of cards you underrate are hype as for them. Not that I expect it to bump the grade (cascade being the reason noxious rebirth is a C/C+ or whatever) but it's worth a mention along with whatever jank you can come up with
Hi again from the other end of Lake Erie. Good to see Beezy on the mend, and I really look forward to gameplay content from you guys! I have a couple thoughts on Ramunap Excavator, Crucible of Worlds, and Ancient Greenwarden. First up, I know budget isn't a major consideration in these grades, but it's worth noting that Excavator is about a tenth the price of Crucible. That's not insignificant. Next, you guys credit a later card in this video for being a creature as opposed to an artifact with the same effect. I think the same applies to Excavator and Greenwarden vs Crucible, in that not only are you likely to want that body in green decks, but relying on Crucible conflicts with running artifact wipes which you otherwise might cast with impunity in a very-feasible-in-green deck with like 3 non-critical artifacts. Yeah, it's subject to creature hate, but that really should be accounted for already anyway since you're in green; 98% of your board is subject to creature hate. Last, Beezy sounds pretty low on Greenwarden because it's high cmc, but really, it doesn't seem that expensive for Crucible and Landharmonicon stapled to a body that itself seems about right for the price (even if a green 6 cmc 5/7 vanilla reacher would only ever see play in other formats). Think of Greenwarden as a wincon in the (landfall) decks that want it, and the cmc doesn't feel terrible. In the end, I don't think you guys are dead wrong, just a bit low. Excavator does require some build around to really hit the mark, but I'd probably put it at B+ for the reasons mentioned. I don't recall if Greenwarden was in the first video, but I don't think I'd put it below C+, with an argument for B- since I'm pretty sure the only other way to double up every one of your landfall triggers is Yarok, the Desecrated. 1 less cmc but 2 more colors, and you miss out on the relevant Crucible effect? Greenwarden looks like *the* way to go if you want the double landfall. FR though, what do I know? LOL I'm not good at card analysis, with a bunch of decklists-in-progress that I can't finish because commander isn't 200-card singleton and I can't decide what to cut! 😂
I was wondering the same. Then on the other hand, crucible effect needs to stick around a few turns to be good whereas eternal witness doesn't care if it dies right away. you even want to skullclamp asap and reanimate it. but not ramunap excavator. I think their grade on ramunap exca was quite good in light of this. Greenwarden is a beast in a dedicated landfall deck but I wouldn't put it in any deck with a few fetches. I find that there's always something better to do with 6 mana that directly helps whatever theme I'm goig for if it's not landfall triggers.
Have fun building those decks! If you want my advice, you can always pick up extra cards and try each one out over a few games. Switch them with similar effects to keep the consistency of the deck similar.
@@selkokieli843 true, you do want that effect to be resilient. IDK maybe solid B from me, which is a pretty minor quibble with their grade. I agree for sure that Greenwarden only belongs in certain decks. If landfall isn't winning you the game, it shouldn't make the cut whether you really want the Crucible effect or not. That said, it's really your only option for the doubling effect, so I have a hard time giving it a "C for cuttable" grade or worse, though I guess if you look at it more generally as "landfall-centric effect that can win the game" there are probably other equal or better options. Thanks. If I can get a list down to ~120 or less, that's the route I try to take. With some though, e.g. the Lord Windgrace deck I've been trying to finish since all that lands-matter support came out in the last year, there's so much to choose from that I find it *way* easier to query up a big list of good options on Scryfall than it is to pare it down.
Ok, hear me out, I think that it came out later but Lair of the Hydra has easily become one of my favorite green cards of all time. I was not impressed with it at first, but no card has single handedly won me more games of commander. It easily goes undetected as a land (also making it hard to remove) and fits with greens ramp super well as an X spell. Pesky late game board wipe? No worries, just throw the ton of mana you have (because you’re in green) into a huge hydra that basically has haste to finish things off!
You guys should make a video series where you create lists for commanders from scratch you could even do slightly different takes and powerlevels on the same commander
I disagree one zendikar resurgent, I’d say it’s a B. Because in a landfall deck that you are likely to have 14 lands or more out then this basically casts itself for free (assuming it doesn’t get countered), hell if you even have 10 lands then you will have 6 mana open after you play this. You don’t alway need to wait till the next turn to get value. It’s ramp if u have 15 or more lands as well as card draw. In a lot of cases it will give you the mana needed to allow a second play (seeing as ur playing green and most likely are ramping) or just to hold up a counterspell or 2 to help make sure you untap with it, assuming ur playing blue.
Obviously it's not as good as Craterhoof, but how do you feel about Pathbreaker Ibex in a creature-heavy deck? You normally already have multiple haste enablers to choose from so it functions fairly similarly
Depends on what other colors you are in. Red/Green, haste is easy enough. Mono-green I think you have 3 total cards: Concordant Crossroads($50 and is symmetric so you grant haste to opponents), Akroma's Memorial (7 mana) and Ulvenwald Oddity (4mana plus 7 more to flip). Using something like Yeva, Vedalken Orrery or Chord of Calling to flash in the Ibex at end of turn may be easier than enabling haste. Oh and Finale of Devastation for 10, searching for Ibex to make them super-dead (minimum of +23/+23 to the team).
I don’t play Burgeoning in my Bantress (Tuvasa) deck, because it’s really only going to be good in the first few turns or when I have drawn 26 cards and couldn’t win that turn. But I didn’t know that people didn’t put Explanation in their decks… and you may be thinking, what is the difference between Exploration and what you said about Burgeoning? Well, Exploration may allow me to drop my Serra’s Sanctum right now and continue snowballing. Burgeoning doesn’t do that.
Burgeoning is really only good in decks that have 40 plus lands. My enchantress deck only runs 37 and in terms of ramp im goin for the land enchantments wild growth etc not extra land drops. I run burgening in my omnath deck that has 44 lands and it can be broken when im getting multiple lands with life from the loam buliding up them and using seismic assault to discard em so instead of playing all my lands i have em in hand for removal or i can get em out to cast more stuff next turn. Also can trigger landfall on opponets turn for 4c omnath so its really a lands card not an enchantment one.
Interesting points about Noxious Revival I hadn't considered. What about in decks that focus on the top of the deck for some reason, like Atla Palani or a Cascade heavy deck, would that make it worth it?
Zendi resurge too yeah if you play in big mana decks it goes off, play with 10 mana up which happens quick in edh. It’s late game developer so better in fun metas then competitive though yes
Veil of summer would be amazing in my play group lol. Cause most decks contain blue or black, so if no one controls a permanent in those colors, I’m pretty much winning.
One game I went land - sol Ring- Arcane Signet, second turn land - Mirari's Wake. That felt like cheating, I was so far ahead. Like you said 5 mana is a lot of build-up usually so playing it second turn is excellent.
Great video, thanks! I'm going to have to disagree with Return to Nature. That card is cheap, flexible and one of the best at what it does in green. What's your opinion on Beast Within? I definitely think that it's a proper green staple.
I see Noxious Revival as interaction with upside. I have ganked reanimation targets, blown out Mystical and Enlightened Tutors, broken up SDT combos, stuffed Bolas’s Citadel and Mystic Forge, all for the price of 2 life. Kinda surprised y’all only discussed the worse half, using it on yourself.
Do you think Wilderness Reclamation would be better if you had Vedalken Orrery in play? You would basically cast it for free, and still have all of your mana to cast things on other people's turns. You get to use all of your lands on your turn, and then you get to to cast more stuff on their turns.
Imagine playing Adrix and Nev, playing Springbloom Druid, and then creating a bunch of token copies of it. Each ETB you sacrifice a land to get two, rinse and repeat until you have double the lands of everyone else on like turn four!
@@NitpickingNerds Unlike color hosers like Pyroblast this one is so incredibly worth the risk in my books. Even one island on the field already makes this a free rainbow source with future scaling.
Do you guys consider elvish rejuvenator better than farhaven elf? I get that it can grab nonbasics, but I'm pretty turned off by the chance of whiffing. I dont think its any more playable than farhaven. Interested in your opinion. Is there something I'm missing about it?
Nah hes wiffed for me once in my merren deck so i cut him for a yavimya granger which puts itself in the bin so id play that over farhaven or rejuvenator.
Zendikar Resurgent is good in enchantress decks that can cast it off of one of the stupid lands (Cradle, Sanctum or Nykthos) and then use the other lands. But Michael, enchantress decks already draw cards. Sure, but they don’t draw you cards when playing your actual enchantresses (that aren’t enchantments).
While I agree with 99% of your takes, I gotta hard disagree with Noxious Revival. I'd put it at a B or B- for sake of fairness. Considering it can also work against your opponents at instant speed for free. Consider the following: an opponent is playing reanimator. They've entombed a Jin-Gitaxias or another massive beater turn 3-4. They don't have the mana to cast it. You can respond to their reanimation spell targeting their massive creature to the top of their library and then their reanimation spell fizzles. So now they have an uncastable creature in hand, and they're down a reanimation spell.
what do you think about omen of fire as a 2 colour hate spell? obviously this is nowhere nearly as good as veil of summer i was just wondering what other people think about a card like this
Ah Dryad and Ramunap Excavator. Neat cards that are then frequently outdone. Dryad needs to be fed cards from other sources. So I'd rather have Oracle of Mul Daya, or even Centaur Courser as those more actively provide card draw. Excavator keeps getting outclassed in the decks I'd put it in. Decks with Windgrace and Mending of Dominara, or Muldrotha, Kagha, Shadow Archdruid, and again Mending.
No kidding Shamanic Revelation is hard to judge. And you're right, you need to have 4+ creatures out. Because if you're normally at three or less, than you may as well be running Harmonize because it's a guaranteed 3 cards, no muss or fuss. I agree on Zendikar Resurgent. A much more fair card than the Great Henge. Still a fun card when your curve is low. So untapping with it is sweet, but often you land it for 7 and in the same turn still drop 1-2 creatures. I cannot fault the grade at all.
Rishkar's Expertise is nice. I actually don't mind drawing three. Yes, five is better, and it's in green, so not that hard to achieve. But that casting a 5 drop afterwards means its really hard to have wasted the turn by spending the mana on the Expertise. Oh Evolution Sage... I have one set aside for Lord Windgrace. It's doing things the deck wants, and yet I can never find a spot for it. The Sage is not making mana, it's not drawing cards, it's not making bodies to run interference, it's just making my walkers tick-up a tiny bit quicker.
Re: Craterhoof some of it may be price. But I'd also argue that its efficiency knocks it down the EDHRec lists. Yes, every-time it comes down, that's what it does, the table gets stomped, rocks fall, everybody dies. Ok, I've seen what that card can do, lets go look at some other cards to try and figure other ways I can win instead.
Do you see a reason not to run Zendikar's Roil in that scenario instead? 1 mana cheaper, which also deconflicts the piece with Kodama's cmc, and there could very possibly be elemental synergies to exploit in that kind of deck, as well. The bodies are half the P/T, sure, but at least in most of the games I've played, there isn't much practical difference between a bunch of vanilla 2/2s and vanilla 4/4s. If RB made tramplers, it'd just be generically great, but it's kind of medium as-written. I'm toying with a cascade-centric deck idea that uses Imoti for 6+ mana cascading shenanigans and I see potential there, but otherwise, I just wonder how many "landfall - create a token" effects are required for Kodama.
@@derekludwig3945 as long as you can create some kind of token from a Landfall ability, then you can make infinite tokens. Tireless Provisioner can make you Infinite Treasures. Tireless Tracker makes infinite Clues. And I'm sure there's more
@@derekludwig3945 redundancy doesnt hurt it though. Sure its not the best but its a creature that can be cloned way easier to double his effect if you got blue with kodama. I gotta deck that does basicly the same thing with risen reef an angry omnath and yeah the enchantment is cheaper an easier to cast but its not tutorable or reanimatable. If i ran maskwood nexus cus its 5c so i got the world tree scute swarm and baloth would make the cut.
@@derekludwig3945 also got a deck list for that cascade one? I have a deck im building and i havent quite got it figured out. Its got yidris as the commander but i have no reason to run black its basicly temur elemtals. I got maelstrom wanderer immoti that temur commander that lets you put a land from cascading and the 3 drop red ele that gives your commander cascade.I thought about going 5 c making horde of notions the commander so i can really abuse maelstrom wanderer but i dunno what white or black add to the cascade besides maelstrom nexus.
@@kingginger3335 oh, I know how Kodama plays lol. A guy in my usual group ran a Toggo/Kodama deck for a while. He had a ton of infinite token capabilities in that deck and usually roughed up the table pretty good with it. I don't recall whether that had Rampaging Baloths or not. I'm not saying RB is bad, and it does even have certain advantages over Roil, like being creature-tutorable, cloneable, etc. It just seems like there are plenty of ways to make tokens on landfall, even if you specifically want creatures and you're in mono-green, to the extent that RB doesn't seem to particularly stand out, except as the most expensive option in mono-green. IDK man, I haven't personally run a Kodama deck, so I'm just theorizing. If it works, it works.
I don't agree when you say Elvish rejuvenator is better than Farhaven Elf, maybe you could make a short about Elvish rejuvenator and tell us why you think it's good because i don't like it.
Here's a unique video idea: "Things you need to keep track of every turn" (because some obscure card might require you to remember it accurately).
Oh god having them talk about Chaos Moon would be great
Beezy looks taller. Where are his glasses?
I liked Jon and hope you bring him back for game play and whenever one of you needs a day off

Rishkar's expertise feels pretty good off the top with jahdzi Oracle of arcavios and dropping a seedborn for free
Btw doubling season for planeswalkers is insane, other than that it is a very rare deck that can utilize it to its fullest.
Interesting points about Noxious Revival I hadn't considered. What about in decks that focus on the top of the deck for some reason, like Atla Palani or a Cascade heavy deck, would that make it worth it?
If Beezy is sick, I think he should go by “Weezy”.
Quite possibly I should
I love my green thanks for making this video Joe & Beezy keep up the superb work. Keep staying Pawzitive
You guys nailed this video, Enuff said.
Zendi resurge too yeah if you play in big mana decks it goes off, play with 10 mana up which happens quick in edh. It’s late game developer so better in fun metas then competitive though yes
Always enjoy theses videos. Thanks guys.
no problem!!!
Regrowth and noxious revival remind me of green's demonic/vampirism tutors. As it turns out, your library has better cards than your graveyard
Veil of summer would be amazing in my play group lol. Cause most decks contain blue or black, so if no one controls a permanent in those colors, I’m pretty much winning.
About Rites of Itlimoc reprint! I think they can't print double faced cards in normal sets, they only do it when there's a bunch of them.
Love those videos!! I learn so much from you guys
I just immediately like the videos now. I don’t even have to watch. I just know they’ll be good. (Of course, I always *do* watch)
Aww that's so nice and we thank you!
I LOVE how you prefaced this video…. That should take care of all the haters and even people like me that were like “But!”
Doubling season slots pretty well in my Lathiel deck haha.
I NEED that slime plushie lol I absolutely loved dragon quest as a kid😎💯
Love Oracle of mul daya. Once you have enough land it for the most part guarantees you won't get any more dead draws.
One game I went land - sol Ring- Arcane Signet, second turn land - Mirari's Wake. That felt like cheating, I was so far ahead. Like you said 5 mana is a lot of build-up usually so playing it second turn is excellent.
@@thekwjiboo it seems like vc a good turn lol
@@NitpickingNerds yeah if you have a start like that and don't win, something went terribly wrong.
Chances are they won't print flip cards in Commander precons because it forces the consumer to also purchase sleeves, or use a proxy.
Great video, thanks!
I'm going to have to disagree with Return to Nature. That card is cheap, flexible and one of the best at what it does in green.
What's your opinion on Beast Within? I definitely think that it's a proper green staple.
They gave it an A
I see Noxious Revival as interaction with upside. I have ganked reanimation targets, blown out Mystical and Enlightened Tutors, broken up SDT combos, stuffed Bolas’s Citadel and Mystic Forge, all for the price of 2 life. Kinda surprised y’all only discussed the worse half, using it on yourself.
The floor is still very low on this card but that's some sweet ceiling action right there!
Do you think Wilderness Reclamation would be better if you had Vedalken Orrery in play? You would basically cast it for free, and still have all of your mana to cast things on other people's turns. You get to use all of your lands on your turn, and then you get to to cast more stuff on their turns.
Then again, you did say it would be good in a Flash deck. :-)
It’s tough to play 2 do nothing artifacts
Imagine playing Adrix and Nev, playing Springbloom Druid, and then creating a bunch of token copies of it. Each ETB you sacrifice a land to get two, rinse and repeat until you have double the lands of everyone else on like turn four!
I still think Finale of Devastation is better than Craterhoof if you don't have Craterhoof in the deck.
Finale into Craterhoof. Both cards are $40-$50
What do they say are the cards we can replace for doubling season? Sounds like joe says two names right after and I can’t catch it
This Halloween you guys should dress up as as Grave Titan and Blightsteel
It's cherries and beezy boi coming at ya fast with some smokeable green, toke up
carpet of flowers is insane…
Unless it is dead.
@@NitpickingNerds Unlike color hosers like Pyroblast this one is so incredibly worth the risk in my books. Even one island on the field already makes this a free rainbow source with future scaling.
Great henge is absolutely an A+ in any format
Just my opinion here but I really only use green sun if I have top deck manipulation because of its reshuffle. Once again just my opinion
I loved playing Craterhoof
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH YEAH
I run rishkars in my mono green omnath deck and I typically draw 25+ cards from it lmao
Can you guys create a play mat for your channel that says” Solitaire is a game best played alone”
What would you guys grade genesis wave?
He's BACK!
Heck yeah!
Zendikar Resurgent is good in enchantress decks that can cast it off of one of the stupid lands (Cradle, Sanctum or Nykthos) and then use the other lands. But Michael, enchantress decks already draw cards. Sure, but they don’t draw you cards when playing your actual enchantresses (that aren’t enchantments).
love my boy Dryad of the Ilysian Grove (I call him Simpsons guy because it looks like he has a simpson's face on his chest)
So now they have an uncastable creature in hand, and they're down a reanimation spell.
what do you think about omen of fire as a 2 colour hate spell? obviously this is nowhere nearly as good as veil of summer i was just wondering what other people think about a card like this
Thanks!
Bz being here was so sick
accurate
Can we get a video on degenerate cards? (Cards you should ask your playgroup before adding it to your deck.)
Did you guys grade these on
curve or on greens curve?
I love these videos
Do u know how much ur channel means to me as a new player
Still can't believe I pulled a craterhoof behemoth from a single pack. Shout out to gamestop!
10:15 Jesse Lee Peterson reference? AHHHMAZIN!
hope beezy gets better
btw what happened to his glasses?
not sure. contacts maybe?
He does wear contacts lol
Rampaging Baloths is a secondary combo piece with Kodama instead of Scute Swarm
Go bills!
Notification Squad where you at!?
"Sic Beezy" is gonna be my rap name.
Ceiling is the Roof is something Michael Jordan said at a UNC speech
Regrowth belongs in mono green squirrel storm
Is it not insane how many draw spells are in green? Green is broken. These spells should be blue or spread around to the other colors?
I don't agree when you say Elvish rejuvenator is better than Farhaven Elf, maybe you could make a short about Elvish rejuvenator and tell us why you think it's good because i don't like it.
Ah yes green staples I must get some from staples
Burgeoning ftw
I find it amusing when cards just have literally better versions and the original is just okay anyways, like Explosive Vegetation and Migration Path
I have wanted to off one of my great henges … then I Consuela the maid pops into my head saying “no….no”
Fingers crossed for a reprint
You guys are so nitpic... ooohh I see
