I think the cake is gorgeous and wish I was there to try a piece of it! I like your patience and thoroughness of explaining each step of the recipe! Your a great teacher and cook! Brings back memories of my grandma teaching me how to bake cakes, make bread, pastries, pies, cobblers and her Good Housekeeping award for Her Apple Lattice Pie recipe, Her name was Nell Young, and she was a firm believer in Crisco or Beef Tallow! I miss her dearly but feel Her memories still live on when I cook! Thanks for reminding me of those precious memories! Love ya Girl and God bless you, your husband, children and Homestead! Until we all meet each other one bright and glorious day! Take care!
Thank you for your kind words. Your Grandma sounds like a true gem for your family. I love your fond memories of all she taught. Those things are priceless especially in a day and time like today when everyone is seeking to return to that eay of life. I will try to find her Lattice Apple Pie recipe to give it a try. We have made the switch to beed tallow this year. I rendered down down some beef suet and ended up with 8 quarts about a month ago. Not sure how long that will last us but it's a good start for the year. Blessings to you
The cake is beautiful and I know it's delicious. I love to watch your cooking videos especially when you make things I'd like to learn to cook and eat like corborabi ( guess I spelled that right). Yes ma'am I'm making this cake and I know it's gonna fly off the counter. Grace and Peace to you and the family.
You are doing a good job with your video. Enjoy your channel. Only comment is you need a better mike or reposition it. Have difficulty hearing you without turning my sound up very high and am not hearing impaired. I used to notice this also on your garden videos until the hubby fixed it. It is such a waste of time recording if the viewer cannot hear you. I am enjoying you sharing these cooking vids. A lot of things to learn with making these. Cake looks great, now for the taste.
Thanks for pointing that out. I didn't use a Mic and I'm sure the sound of the mixer didn't help at all. I'll remember this in the future. Blessings family
@@humbleservantshomestead7974 I used grade A -1 batch Madagascar vanilla beans & vodka. 2nd batch Tahitian beans & spiced rum. Both half gal jars. I have to try a batch with bourbon. Takes a long time to really be right.
This was a great video! I love your tips...I don't think I've been creaming my butter and sugar enough now. Definitely never went over a couple minutes. Have a blessed day!
If you see speckles that look like spot or polka dots on the top of your cake once you bake it then you're more than likely not creaming long enough. Let us know how your next cake turns out Sis! Peace and blessings
I made this delicious cake! Had to hand mix but still it’s smooth n’nice. Now, we were eating pieces left in pan. I didn’t grease inside pan enough. Next time will make cake goo! Thanks for sharing 😊
I've always stored my butter on my counter. You will find at least 4 sticks on my counter on any given day. Those that know me and visit us can confirm this to be true. I find that it varies by brand. Sometimes I can come on a hot day and some of the sticks are melting running everywhere. That's mostly in summer though. I am sure to add a plate under them then. Quick tip if your room temp butter isn't soft enough. When you turn your oven on to preheat, place your butter towards the back of you stove between the eyes. The warmth of the stove heating up will give you the softness you need by the time you're ready to use the butter. You may have to flip the sticks a couple of times. Hope that helps
I started eating Smart Balance butter with flaxseed oil for my nerve damage is it harmful why did your family stop seed oils Mrs Humbleservant and your cake looks delicious fr wish i can have a slice 😮
Great question! Seed oils(mainly canola and soybean) are a big issue in the standard American diet. They cause high levels of inflammation in our bodies among other things. Unfortunately they are hidden and present in almost all processed foods we purchase from the stores. Most people do not even realize that the vegetable oil that they buy at the store is actually soybean oil. I'm still trying to figure out when did soybean become a vegetable.
@@humbleservantshomestead7974 I didn't know this information and I thank you because I did a Daniel fast in January but I found out they had false information on Google. You cannot have cheese and dairy so that's yogurt too. They had it on their list so I will try it again soon but I want to do the fast correctly for spiritual growth and guidance in my life from God for me and my family. My appendix exploded so now I have a mass tumor and trying to shrink it naturally without the doctor route if it is possible. And I have started a small garden indoors to be ready in Late March and April to transplant outdoors and I would like to grow some real myrrh like in the Bible for my nerve damage which happened when the poison from the appendix exploding in went through my blood stream. So it is nerve damage but I read it can be restored naturally. Do you know any information on any herbs that can help with about restoring the nerves in your legs and feet and body?
My absolute favorite pound cake, recipe slightly different. I have the same issue with sticking and it drives me nuts. Ive learned the uglier the cake the better it tastes. Tfs

YUM!!! Thank you for the recipe!!
Hello, Thanks So much for Sharing, Blessings
Thus cake is amazing...🤤
Thanks for talking thru preparation. Momma used the ready touch test😂 I’ll use my homemade vanilla and get ingredients tomorrow!😊
It's something about the way the cake springs back that let's you know if it's ready or not lol. Homemade vanilla found heavenly. Did you use bourbon?

Have you noticed that butter is not softening like it used to ? I left butter out overnight to bake in the morning and it was pretty firm.

Generic butter isn't made from grass fed cows. 😮
@@nolagirlhomestead Thank you for the tip. Been trying to save and it WAS generic. Gotta cut back on how much I use but get better quality.
Thank you very much! I am going to try this with my new mixer! I will let you know how it turns out❤

Cheaper ingredients ain't a good thing 🤨
