The whole idea was the ability of the car to send the torque to the wheels that get the best traction. That was an ice sheet for 2 tires. the rest was blacktop.
I have done traction control testing for two of the largest automakers on the planet and this test shows poor control of the variables. For instance, the RX tracked straight up the ice patch and struggled. Then they let the Audi's left front tire touch the dry pavement to the left of the ice patch and pull the car upward not once, but at least FIVE times without comment or having the driver do it again properly without cheating. Both of these two vehicles were filmed from the same angle. The Acura was oddly filmed from a straight rearward angle, not letting us process wheel spin, and the climb was several cuts, not a single run of film like the other two vehicles. Hey Cindy, Robert from Pleasanton? He showed me the video as well :). Such a nice guy, wish I would have bought from him, I did go with the MDX as well!
Pilots have a VTM-4. The VTM-4 system in the Pilot sends a small percentage of power to the rear wheels only when it senses loss of traction on the front wheels. Exact same tires?
This is a BS video, nice try but BS, they made both the Audi and Lexus break traction by accelerating too hard and then hitting the brakes, I have gone on stepper grades with my Q7 Quattro and I will put it up against any Acura any day.
The acura is amazing and will be on the road for decades longer. We don't need to get started on resale value or cost of ownership.
Spinning wheels have no traction. Yet the first two accelerate so hard the wheels spin asap. Rigged test where the winner was determined from the start.
Thats cool and all, but the real advantage of the SH-AWD is buying the Y to make it a SHAWDY
The old, "floor it and drive like an idiot in the competitor's car but drive reasonably in your car", trick.
Name of this song theme? Thanks
which one is Lexus and Acura?
I have an RDX but I do think the other SUV just had the wrong tires.
All hail king MDX!
