    The McHitch is an excellent alternative. Easy to connect and disconnect, no lifting needed.
    In a bad angle situation, its easy to disconnect as you just need to remove a pin , lift a saftey lock and drive away.. (Disconnect chains and electrics and lower jockey wheel of course)

    Well you did get two things wrong. A ball coupling is not rigid, it has a limited range of motion. Also if that trailer rolls on its side it will lift the rear wheels of the tow vehicle off the ground. You stated that all four wheels will stay on the ground.

      U get the one that swivels it's not solid just pump grease in it every so often it's old technology been around 4 years , they just trying to re invent the wheel again , a new money maker

    It would have been good to see the pin being inserted, rather than talk about something that few people are familiar with.

    That 50mm coupler looks easy to use and well made. Where can I find one in the US?

    • @adelaiderv
      @adelaiderv  ปีที่แล้ว

      You could check ebay.com.au just make sure it meets the U.S standard for towing.

    So whats the height off the do35 hitch on your off road vans?

  • @davidmilledge221

    U can get 50mm couplings that do rotate they been around for years why don't you show them and a ball is thicker than a little clip that goes over that thin pin 🤔

      I totally agree with you .I use my 50mm swivel ball coupling had it for years lol last year in Cape York I sold like 30 odd of them had have them flown in couldn't keep up why .because the pin coupling that he so trys to promote couldn't hand the corrugations an force an were smashing the uni joints ie.pivet points an top's of there pins .big fail .

      @@outbacknomad9939 that's interesting mabe if made twice the size would be stronger .I've got an 80mm ball for my 6/4 trailer it's strong as and iff someone steals it won't get far will pop off their 50mm ball 🤣

    Can you use level riders with the DO35

    • @adelaiderv
      @adelaiderv  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I assume you are referring to weight distribution bars?
      Yes, you can use them with a DO35 hitch, there are a couple of rules that apply to different vehicles that need to be observed though.
      One of these is the use of the distributions bars while on corrugations or off road - is not recommended.

    if you want to tow someone else’s van you just swap hitches, pull the pin and slide it out

    Do you know of any tow ball scales that can be bought and will work with the DO35?

    • @theboarhunter
      @theboarhunter ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just use a standard scale suited for ball coupling,instead place it under the chasis as close as possible to the coupling

      50mm do, but only if under 2000kg. Above that is electric brakes

    Why do some couplings have nuts up, and others have nuts down?

    • @adelaiderv
      @adelaiderv  ปีที่แล้ว

      Normally the only difference is the access to tighten them.

    the camper I have on order has a AL-KO 50mm Off Road Coupling, as we also tow a 7x5 trailer and JetSki that way I don't need to swap the ball out for a pin

      @@haroldtatow852 :) thats the plan, the alternative was another hitch however thats another $500 I think, as we need to use the factory hitch for compliance and warranty. the car even states in the book not to use WDH on it may damage the car.. rather keep in spec than do damage.
