Agreed Some people give Darlo a bad press, but those that do haven’t had a look round the town properly, sure it’ll have not so good areas, but it’s not alone in that
@@NorthernExposure1 believe me , I've travelled and most places are fake and "all upfront" Darlington has quality wrote in it's name with successful businesses , unmatched historical history and it's a place for people to come , settle along with the youth of the borough to grow the future of the town .
Just seen this looking into darlo videos when you were visiting the forum I seen you out my window right opposite wondering what you were doing! appreciate this look around my town lived here for 24 years and glad its starting to get some traction thanks for visiting :)
correction joseph pease is not connected to the railways he was the owner of the pease cotton mill which is now occupied by a sports shop & multistory carpark & btw the cornmill isnt that bad its modern which is a lot better than what was there before it
lots and lots of boarded up shops in the last 2 months even house of fraser/binns is closing down, queen street shopping centre is about half empty and the cornmill shopping centre is about 1/3 unoccupied now and going up onto woodlands road is about the same, only going to get worse through the next 2 months from what iv'e heard from local businesses due to rent, taxes and very low footfall over the past few months, the council has a debt of £166 million but is spending an extra 150 million on adding a platform to the train station
Im originally a lad from Sunderland and I moved here about 5/6 yrs and despite how it is , its a great place to live. Yeah it may have a lot of roadworks that can be annoying but still I have a few friends here in Darlo and proud to have moved from dull Sunderland as its now a shithole
It still is in county Durham for administration purposes. It's part of the devolved tees valley area and it is own unitary authority borough of Darlington
I live about 7 miles from Darlo (as it's known locally) and because I come from London, I see it for real and not as by someone whose lived here for 30/40 years. I can tell you, MOST of it is fairly nice, the shopping area is pretty good and houses in certain areas are very expensive (£300,000 ish). However, like most towns there are some areas which are quite run down, cheap houses (£60/£70k) and a bit of litter . . . On the whole, a good place - and now that a department from the Govt. are moving there, it will be even better.
@spencer9928 I agree, they will bring ppl up from London - that is if it will all go ahead now we have a change of Govt. Rents have gone up all ovet, not just Darlo, though. Life is not very good oop norf 🙄
Stockton AND Darlington Railway...... Rocket has no connection to Darlington.... Please record the first Darlington as ACTIVE or Locomotion No. 1..mmmm
Fantastic place , historic , picturesque and lovely friendly people

That's rubbish, there are plenty of "immigrants" there.
