I love how the lyrics is "I can't recall the last time 'I' was kissed" and not "the last time that we kissed" because to me, it hits me like all the efforts were hers and not his and it makes me cry more
Exactly she's in love with a version of him that she's made up. She tries to see his best qualities to make her feel like this is the best guy in the world when really he's trash.
I interpreted it more as she couldn't remember the last time _anyone_ had kissed her, basically implying that it's just been so long since she's been with anyone intimately.
At this point in the lyrics, she's already established that the whole relationship here was just a daydream. It wasn't real; it was all in her head. She's coping with her loneliness by living out fantasies in her mind, but in the end, she is always reminded of reality, and it's depressing.
This song is the relationship she wants, but has never had. Maybe she's never had a romantic relationship. Staring at a ceiling, the rain outside, her longing populating it with a lover. Films beginning, films ending, romantic films. It's all longing and loss from longing and loneliness

This song hits hard for me because I always over romanticize the guys I like and I fall in love with a version of them that never existed. The moment you realize they aren’t the person you thought you loved hurts so bad. The person you imagine every guy to be isn’t even real and you don’t know if you’ll ever be happy unless you find that person. (Didn’t mean to dump this here 😭)

As someone who struggles with loneliness, the outro literally had me sobbing in zero seconds.
i absolutely adore this song. it’s for the nights where i just want to skip to the part where i can finally live with and be happy with my partner. for the nights where my mind wanders too far, imagining a life that is so serene and feels so real, like the start of a movie i’ve seen before. but then, it hits me like a truck that it isn’t real… and can’t be right now. i don’t have the power to change things or even turn back time. i have to settle with the reality of a long distance relationship. i have to get crushed by my daydreams and fantasies, i have to continue to feel their absence a little too much. i have to continue missing them until we see each other again. my heart will ache and i will hardly be able to breathe as the tears roll down my cheeks. but at least with this i won’t feel so lonely and lost.

The feeling of over romanticizing a relationship more than reality warrants is so painful. This song reminds me of someone I was with in high school for a good while. Obviously, that ended eventually. But about a year ago, we reconnected and started dating again. I just remembered how they made me feel. We used to be inseparable. I just got excited. I thought us getting back together meant something. I thought they would be the one. I still wish they would take me back. Every moment with them felt like a movie. They still have one of my sweaters. I don't think I wanna take it back. I hope it stays with them in my place.
