Bromance or romance?
In the show, Goku tells Krillin that he doesn’t know if he has what it takes to beat Cell. But that these were precious times and he didn’t want Chi-Chi or Gohan to spend the little time they had left together (IF this was truly the end) worrying about that. That’s why they don’t do any training for that week.
It’s actually kinda touching.
But people just forgot these things and called goku bad father or husband these things are not even highlighted that much
Well that but also like what was mentioned before that there is such thing as too much training and it's better to have longevity in the super saiyan transformation
And if you consider it... he is a bad father. Not a horrible one, not an abusive one, but one who was never ready to be a father. In all honest Saiyans are bad parents. There is a huge distinction between Bad Father Goku and Meme Bad Father Goku, though and OG Goku is pretty much is just someone who see's everyone as a friend and was not ready nor mature enough to be an actual father. By the end of middle of the Cell Saga is when he slowly started to mature, but Super kinda dialed that back.
He also thought they reached a limit.
It really was the one time/Arc where Goku actually really thought of everyone else before him self. A genuine character development if you ask me. Then you got Dragon Ball Super.... I love it, but man they gave Goku brain damage, again.
About the king of the world being a dog: ironically enough, this was first explained in a sidequest in DBZ: Kakarot. Back before the series, when Bulma was about 10 years old, there was a drug called Animorphaline that turned regular people into the various animal-like people you see throughout the Dragonball world. It was really popular, to the extent that even the king of the world used it. Mind you, some animal-looking people were actually born that way (Oolong, for example), but quite a lot of them became that way from the drug.
It was the furry community all along!!

If I remember correctly, even DBZ Kakarot dropped a Goten hint when Gohan decided not to go with Goku and Chichi to give them alone time
They totally banged in that car.
The way Perfect Cell just rolls with everything Goku says is one of the best parts of the series. Everyone else gets frustrated or annoyed at him, but Cell lives for it.
I think it has to be because of the fact that he’s part Goku, he understands how he thinks.

Its cause he know goku and what makes him tick, just as how he knew how to push vegetas buttons. The Z warriors are part of what makes up his DNA.
It's heavily implied that Goten was conceived during the week leading up to the #CellGames. It's possible he could have been prior to the androids showing up all together but most agree its during this time.
In the original story, Cell gave them 10 days not 7, 10 is more than enough to conceive a child.
I guess that explains how Goten could turn Super Saiyan as a kid.

this DBZ/KAI episode when it originally aired made me realize 2 things.....
1. Piccolo and Vegeta never squared up
2. If Vegeta and Trunks had waited 24 hours to fight Goku and Gohan in a father-son battle royale, the Vegeta family would have gotten folded really bad, like brutally
Dunno if I remember this correctly but awhile back someone said the whole "fade out" thing for nail and kami was if people got bored with the joke they could stop, but everyone loved nail and kami talking so they never vanished
In my head canon, Piccolo subconsciously keeps Nail and Kami around because he's lonely, despite all his complaining about them.
@@ryanbrochu3336 Makes sense, though I don’t think Piccolo has any control on whether Kami or Nail disappear. Piccolo knew nothing about Namekian fusion and Nail and Kami were the ones to tell him they may or may not fade into his subconscious eventually. They just weren’t sure when, if at all.
yep and its confirmed that kami and nail being silent right after the second fusion was a purposeful fake out in responce to a theory that nail and kami would disapear due to piccolo finally becoming complete.
Goku was confident that Gohan's potential was enough to take out Cell so he felt that training would be a waste of time and wasn't going to get either of them stronger.
He also said that overusing the chamber is simply detrimental for your body. They weren't even in there for a full year but 9 months instead.
Not only that but training for days nonstop will do more harm than good and also burn you the hell out

Yes, this is when Gotten was conceived, leading to a popular theory on why Gotten is so strong is that Goku was a Super Saiyan during the act
Kinda makes you wonder what would happen if Goku impregnated chichi again now while in like, Super saiyan blue kaioken or ultra instinct or something lol

Present Trunks being about as strong a Goten blows a hole in that theory because Vegeta hadn't even achieved base Super Saiyan when Trunks was conceived

Basically the reason Goku rested with Gohan it's basically the Same reason you would take a rest day when you go to the Gym since the time Chamber at the time was almost more like a torture than real training so that their body could recover before the fight and also get used to the ssj status for a whole week straight
The dinos are real and have been a thing since the OG DB. You should have seen one in BoG too
The scene of them on there tv is not real though. Most animal people and dinosaurs were forgotten in Dbz. Literally forgotten. Toriyama is on record saying he forgot about them. So we have king furry and the story with the dino baby taken by a circus, but not much else.
Definitely need to do the Cell vs series. Hella funny.

If you don't mind, it would be really cool to see your reaction to the "Cell versus" mini series. The episodes are less than 10 minutes each so you could do one a day. It would be nice to have them as bonus content whenever you can. I feel you would really enjoy them.
Fun fact: the reason for the vacation after goku and gohan came out of the chamber was for two reasons:
1) goku’s teachings from master roshi’s fighting style demands that the body has time to heal in order to gain the full benefits of training-otherwise, you torture your body like vegeta and fail to gain the full benefits from the training.
2) from the start, goku knew he didn’t stand a chance against cell. From the start, he bet it all on gohan; and while he DID have confidence that gohan would come out victorious-he knew that if gohan couldn’t beat cell then it would mean the end. So he wanted to spend some quality time with his friends and family and just have a good time before death.
This is also very much a real work philosophy too. If you don’t give yourself proper rest time after working out, your muscles won’t properly recover! You’ll see more gains by talking proper recovery time instead of going at it as hard as possible every day in a row.
Fun fact: the form Goku and Gohan use is call Full Power Super Saiyan. Basically after much training their body's as well their mind and emotions they are able to hold SSJ form like they would their normal forms and lose little to no power when holding it. But doing so make it harder doing normal things like drinking water from a glass....😆 no bull Goku and Gohan broke more dishes holding them carefully as possible instead of accidentally dropping them
Basically the reason the race of Frieza created transformations to make themselves weaker to better control themselves

It's mastered ssj is literally just regular ssj but mastering it to sustain it with little to no strain so when they power up further their bodies can take it

The only consistency we get concerning who reads the card at the beginning is just whoever has something "unfortunate" happen to them in the episode. Could be death, but also could just be injury or.... other things...

FUN FACT! The clothes beam explains where Piccolo gets his outfits from, considering he has lacked a house for so long. Also, his ability to make a sword implies the production of other materials, leading me to believe that if he was left uninterrupted, he could actually just make a castle, given enough time.

When we first see Goten, he’s 7 years old. The buu saga starts 7 years after the end of this one, and until this point goku has either been training or fighting/dying of heart virus. So, logically speaking, this is likely when Goten was made. Either that or shortly before they go and fight 19 and gero.
Vegeta didn't have to wait that long outside the chamber, considering 3 days in there translates to like, 12 minutes in the real world

I highly recommend watching the movies: Super Android 13 and Broly before finishing the series. Android 13 takes place before they use the hyperbolic time chamber. Broly takes place before the Cell games. Both are really funny.
Remember jack, before you finish abridged you have to also watch the first broly movie, cause that takes place within the week of training before the cell games
Btw jack, you questioned it in the game as well and they didn’t really explain it well but gohan and everyone else was also wondering why goku was so relaxed and didn’t want another turn in the chamber. His reasoning was the chamber isn’t a good place to keep going into since that won’t be training just continuing going inn that would be just torture. He wanted to train in the outside world but also relax because that’s an important part of training. And the fact he witnessed how OP gohan was and already knew that gohan was gonna was gonna beat him. (Letting gohan in on the plan would be smart but then goku wouldn’t have had that character moment of learning gohan isn’t a fighter and only dose it because he needs to)
It was 3 days of rest, 3 days of training, and 3 more days of rest and then the Cell Games making it 10 days in the actual story
This is the most weird stuff added by abridged that I’ve seen since very early episodes. Making a scene for Goten’s conception is hilarious 😂

Back in those days I believe there was a 2 day time on the time chamber.
Plus Goku explains that after a certain amount you really stop progressing in the time chamber, what was once training turns into just torture on the body.
But the main reason they came out was because in the Series Goku gets to see a brief glimpse of Gohan's SSJ2 power and knew Gohan would be the only one capable of beating Cell.
Reporter: Even the attack of the Saiyans five years ago pales in comparison to this overwhelming threat, as if comparing a cataclysm to a rampaging toddler.

I love the casual jabs tfs takes at the video games calling gohan "teen gohan" at this age. And goku so innocently saying, "he's teen gohan now" gets me every time

Make sure you watch the Abridged Broly movie before you get to the Cell Games, as it takes place during the week Cell gives them before the tournament.

Dinosaurs have been a thing in Dragon Ball's world since Dr. Slump. Kami and Nail are still around in Piccolo in canon they're just much more quiet.

In the actual show the reason given is "We're as strong as we're going to get, and the Time Chamber is too rough on the body to rest properly, so we'll spend 2 days resting, 3 days training, and 2 days resting, outside the Time Chamber before fighting Cell"
Yep, this was the one point perhaps in all of Dragon Ball when Piccolo was stronger. Remember how 18 basically man handled Vegeta and 17 is said to be a lot stronger than 18 and Piccolo actually caught him off guard when they were fighting and probably would've won if the androids did not have that ridiculous infinity energy convenience.
I'm going to let you know this now Jacky-boy, after this episode is where you should watch the rest of the Abridged movies, except for the Eradication of Christmas, that should be after the finale. Keep up your reactions mate 👍

Even though Piccolo never surpasses Goku, he can still hold his own. Out of all the fighters, Piccolo has the most skill and finesse, able to keep up with opponents stronger than him with stuff like tactics and situational awareness.
they actually do use the ring for a good while before cell decides it’s not fun being restricted by something, the fight between cell and goku was pretty fire
The reason the keyboard has that many keys is it likely has entire mathematic formulas already finished added as Hotkeys. I figure the math for Capsule Compression tech is definitely a hotkey. Also the equation for Ki measurement possibly.

I’m gonna quickly explain the Piccolo/Kami/Nail joke real quick, while also trying not to sound like a know-it-all. Ok, here we go.
Throughout all of the original DBZ, Piccolo has been a loner, a badass, but nobody to talk to, very few character interactions, not many reasons to have him speak overall. So while a very cool character, he was kinda boring.
When TFS got to Namek, they decided to give him someone to interact with in any scene he’s in without having to add anything in post like with ghost Nappa. So once he fused with Nail, they made him stay in Piccolo’s consciousness as a gag they could always use in any scene without needing to make him talk out loud (or edit the scenes too drastically).
The part where Nail says that he’s “supposed to fade into his subconsciousness... eventually” was a back door invade the bit was revived poorly by audiences. As it clearly was not, it carried through to Kami, so they can not only have whole discussions on a single frame of Piccolo, but explore his character more as they wish.
It’s widely considered the best change TFS has made to Dragonball. Sorry if that’s more than enough information, just wanted to get that cleared up.
I think when done with DBZA you need to watch "DragonShortZ" it's TFS's slow ongoing continuation of their series... and of course there's HFIL which revolves around Cell's life in Hell. Or there's Hellsing Ultimate Abridged, which is Curtis Arnott (the voice of Cell, Nappa, Guru and Dende) as Alucard, and it is just basically him channeling Jim Carrey if he played Dracula...
would be cool to see all the Cell Vs. games before the real one starts lol

This is probably my favourite Dragon ball z Abridged episode. Definitely one of my top 5 favourites at least.

If I remember correctly, all saiyans are named after vegetables. Vegeta is obviously just vegetable, minus the b-l-e, Kakarot is a play on carrot, Raditz is radish, Broly is broccoli, etc.

I would highly suggest react to the Cell vs. Series that TFS did before the Cell Games. They do crossovers with characters that they did themselves before TFS or other actors they have worked with before. Its damn funny.

the reason why the keyboards have so many keys is because they use japanese keyboards, which has A LOT more keys than one would think, and this was also back in the 90s so tech was still quite early

to all who do believe that goten was conceived in the 10 days leading up to the cell games, this cannot be correct, as his age doesn't match up cleanly, cause the cell games take place in may, which would mean goten would be born in the next year after the cell games if he was conceived in the 10 day break period, which should mean he would be 6 during the buu saga, but he is 7 then, its much more likely he was conceived a few months before the android saga, during the training period
further detail: the cell games take place in may of 767, if goten is born 9 months after, this would be well into 768, but the buu saga takes place in 774, but goten is 7 in this arc, which should not be possible unless he was conceived a decent amount of time before the cell games

5:27 Because they did, but then Abridged came along with this genius idea, from writing point of view, to keep them around and give Piccolo someone to always bounce off of. It's clear either Toriyama or Toei like that idea as Super has a moment of Piccolo passing out and seeing both of them again (they also actually put a Mr. Popo creepy face close-up).
