I think the improvement is in the filter and return placement. I hope it really helps with noise. What about the MERV 8 filter? Cost of replacement filters?
I hear the GE has soft start already installed. Wonder how small a battery or generation could power one. For example, could a Bluetti 2000 be able to power 2 AC unit???
Airstream typically runs low profile AC units, which is why these are different than what is on the SOB campers. I would wager the change is less about reliability and more dollars and cents, GE is likely giving AS a better deal per unit than Dometic. Keeping the Coleman units on the higher end models is a good decision as you can see this is a value prop. 2 controllers is silly, and means if you want to upgrade to a micro-air controller, you need to buy 2. The new front and end caps / roof design is a nice upgrade for the flying cloud and international and is the reason for the updated HVAC ceiling filters that have been in the GT/PB/Classic already. Airstream did the new end cap design + Coleman AC upgrade in 2023 for the GT and it was never even mentioned in the literature.
The single controller on the 2023 is not hard to use. The issue is the location of the thermostat for the rear AC unit. It is located on the TV wall near the side of the unit and exposed to incoming sun. Not very accurate.
Oh yeah its hot in the Carolinas...drive that sucker to Phx AZ right now with our 115 and see how quickly it cools down then you will really know how well the unit works.
Why is Airstream, and GE shipping AC units with the water pumps defective, dumping water onto the roofs? It should not be allowed to drain onto the roofs.
I bought two GE appliance brand portable AC units, both stopped working within 1 year or just outside 1 year. GE appliance didn't want to fix or replace the defective AC unit(s). 1st unit I went through BBB and received a refund, 2nd unit I was given rebates if I bought another GE appliance (not limited to an AC unit. Is the RV GE AC unit made by (GE appliance, GE)???? I won't buy or recommend another GE AC unit, any type!
Dometic is super reliable proven unit so far, I would wait a year before buying the new Airstream with GE units, also dealers always promote what is the newest latest and greatest, doesn't mean it's any better. I have no problem with my Dometic AC units or the controller.
So, I have had my 2024 1/2 GT for a few months now and let me tell you. the GE AC is the absolute worst thing Airstreams ever done to me. It is the loudest ac unit I’ve ever heard. There is an ever present very loud rhythmic hum whenever the compressor starts up. It is a frequency that will eventually drive me mad and just about has already. I heard Airstream just changed back to Coleman for GT’s Thanks a lot GE. This is otherwise my dream trailer. Oh! And it leaks onto my roof too. So, bonus!!
Video Title says “Huge improvement.” Where is it? I see worse, No Program Mode, Two Controllers means you have to go to two places to adjust your AC/Heat. No current Temp Button. This is not better and certainly not a Huge Improvement.
The filters are better. Having two controllers is worse. I appreciate that some people have trouble working the Dometic controller. I'm not one of those people.

@@Moneymanmick0804@Tincupping My store has sold over 100 airstreams this year and the only warranty work we have done on the GE Profile is replacing two wall-mount thermostats! At this point, I think the GEs are great!

I will say, it is disturbing that given the investment you must make in an AS, AR chooses not to put the very best most reliable components into the trailer. Easy to do on their part. Truma has the highest rated RV AC in the industry. It should be a no brainer for AS, and any other manufacturer for that matter. Hey, when you are charged a lot for a product be prepared for the consumer to demand a lot in return. What’s good for the goose….

They do not have soft start from the factory, but you are able to add soft start on them as a aftermarket option! Make sure you use the GE soft start.

It is a Merv 8 filter... I haven't seen any pricing on replacement filters.

Naah, 115 with no humidity is nothing compared to 95 with 85-90% humidity.

I am so glad I bought a Classic, which has the Coleman installed on it. GE's are not very reliable. I guess time will tell.

Not sure where you get your info. I have had 4 failures of Dometic ACs on our 2017 Flying Cloud 30 ft Bunk.

We have a 2023 International 27fb with two Dometic AC units. They work great and seem to be highly energy efficient.
Actually, the title says "HUGH" improvement if you look carefully. My wife noticed it. It went right by me, though! Ha-Ha!
