Look, as a MTG player who started looking into YuGiOh a little after getting sucked down a "Maxx C Challenge" rabbit hole..... that was the first thing I knew! 🤣
"You're getting it!" was exactly how I felt. There are so many crazy things going on here, and so many ways to summon a ton of monsters. In Yugioh, if you give your opponent an inch, they don't take a mile they take the whole damn city. It's why we love it though.
One thing I will say is that I think you gave him the wrong idea about Plaguespreader. Discard costs are genuinely steep costs for a lot of decks, especially Plaguespreader since that card doesn't even go to the graveyard. It's still a solid card though. It should also be noted that the main reason it was so good (Crystron Halqifibrax) is currently banned so it doesn't see much play right now.
the other degenerate thing they missed for mystic mine is the ability to just put it on the field from a losing position, stalling out the game to hope you draw something good

the meme in master duel when it first came out was mystic mine/crooked cook with shark as material, sit and wait to draw exodia. like mostcritikal even used it for awhile.

Compared to a lot of other card games, Yugioh has a bunch of cards that read "you win" and the only real difference between each deck is how quickly you can get to those cards. For instance, in my pet deck, there's a card known as The First Darklord (My Beloved). Imagine a 10/10 with a cmc of 5 that reads "when this card enters the battlefield, destroy all nonland permanents your opponents control" and it's considered weak and slow.
Late I know, but one of my own preferred decks(Mikanko) doesn't have a "You Win" read card. Though at the same time, those Shrine Maidens are being infuriating for a whole slew of different reasons.
if i was showing someone who hadnt played yugioh "Gameciel" i would have covered the kaiju counters line of text. or told them to ignore it. yes there were decks that used like saryuja to turbo this onto your field and make like infinite omninegates but 99% of the time he's played for being the smallest kaiju

11:30 I can think of one: Give and Take. A normal trap that summons one monster from your GY to your opponents field. Its generally awful but very good in Mayakashi decks, which is why I know about it, since the Mayakashi monsters prevents the controller from summoning from the extra deck except for Mayakashi monsters and it triggers Yuki-Onna the Absolute Zero Mayakashi for a negate
Sometimes people play different kaijus to interact with them is ways gameciel doesn't allow (like using the big light one and use the spell to boost your monsters attack by the kaiju's attack)
@@TheOneJameYT slightly better idea: give them each 2 boxes. one will be from a set that has engines, and that set can vary, but the other will always be rarity collection when it drops. if it's truly ocg - maxx c like we're thinking with maybe a couple of swaps, the true skill expression is in what staples from rarity collection they choose and how they apply them.

About the Mine, many cards were played during the MM Burn era that you can give to your opponent so you can play your Mine Turn 0 , i can think of 2 that were played in YCS Topping decklists , the D.D guy and the Fish one
"Every card in Yugioh is designed to stop your opponent from playing Yugioh" This is why I play Harpies and Hieratics to this day. Well, I don't actually play anymore, but I still have the decks. Neither deck is all that combo heavy, and neither deck locks you out of the game. I simply OTK you through the simplest and most pure form of the game; combat damage. Never said I won events. But these are my 2 favorite decks so.

This is my first time seeing plaquespreader but seems good in sprite engine. A reanimating zombie lvl 2 that can be xyz-ed, sent to gy, special summoned again, xyz-ed then special summoned again as it’s not banished anymore
I would argue that Mystic Mine is not actually a good card. If you look at tournament results, on average it lost more games than it won. But it is just an absolute degenerate and toxic card that can just cheese you a win sometimes... it feels aweful to play and is aweful to play against, but i dont think it is THAT good. It absolutely should be banned in every format, but that does not mean its inherently good imo.
The thing with Last Will is that back in the day there wasn't an official ruling on how it even worked which was constantly the cause of rulings arguments. I played a jank deck that made use of Last Will and I basically had to talk to a judge before I started playing to see how they'd actually rule Last Will works because it was never consistent. I've had the card ruled that it had to be played before the a monster was sent from the field to the GY to it could only be played after because the "IF" was considered a cost, I had judges rule it had to target, I had judges rule that it could miss timing if multiple monsters were sent at the same time, I had judges rule that it couldn't be triggered off a monster sent for cost... it was literally never ruled consistently... god forbid you played two in the same turn! I think Last Will should have always been a staple card, the issue was just that you could never rely on a ruling until there was an official one... which even that changed several times. Anyway it's been banned ever since we got a consistent ruling.
You can summon Jinzo now by dumping it to the grave and reviving it with Sanctifire post side to shutdown trap decks, which people have unironically done in the year 2023 😅
Ahhh... the days when plaguespreader was broken... it and the old vamps got me obsessed with zombies in highschool. SO glad that Zombies are still getting newer support and can at least be a good rogue deck.
@AliEldrazi: To properly explain the continous effect of the shaddoll Winda: It turn all special summoned for both player into the rules of pendulum summoned but does not become treated as a pendulum summoned. So if that card is already on the field an its effect is not negated, if chain link 2 special summoned 1 monster, and then chain link 1 special summoned a monster. Since chain link 2 resolve first that one will be special summoned but chain link 1 will not be special summoned and the special summoned monster since you can't special summoned anymore goes to the graveyard by game mechanic. However if chain link 2 special summoned 4 monster and it considered at the same time, and then chain link 1 Special summoned only one monster. Then chain link 2 would special summmoned all 4 monsters because that is still within the restriction, then chain link 1 resolve and that monster goes to the graveyard by game mechanic. If chain link 2 was 1 special summoned and chain link 1 was 4 special summoned at the same time. Then the 1 special summoned would happen, then when chain link 1 resolve all 4 goes to the graveyard by game mechanic.
As some who also loves insane combos in Magic. I think he would get a kick out of the things you can do in Yu-Gi-Oh. A couple of years ago, I made a Yu-Gi-Oh deck that can infinitely skip my opponents' turn. While adding things back to my deck. So, basically just freezing the game. It was convoluted. But it's awesome when you get all the pieces working. I utilized some Fluffals, Athena, and Arcana Force XXI.
there are monsters that u can summon to your opponents side of the field. Pure mystic mine burn used to run ojama trio to give to your opponent, which was pretty decent for what the deck wanted to do
The best Card is Field Barrier and silent Wobby which Looks the Opponent Right at the Spot. Ojama Trio was a Card only used in earlier builds when Jeff Leonard only started to build mystic mine .

you can't really describe why winda was so good without explaining how shaddoll could summon construct and winda in the same turn and there was then so little the opponent could do in that meta outside of having a deck that could normal big monsters or use monarchs stormforth. literally the only thing that kept shaddoll in check was the fact Qli was full power and main decked skill drain

I used to play swords of reviewing lights with mystic mine. Whole time I’m playing blue eyes draw engine for exodia . It’s been a few years since I played n I never did well in tourneys but I destroyed friends in house games. None of us played meta decks bc we hated pendulum and links

If they are fusion summoned first, and end-up in the graveyard you can special summoned it with monster reborn, without doing any fusion, the same for card that special summoned from the banish zone. However if the fusion monster that is a must first be fusion summoned is send to the graveyard or banish dirrectly from extra deck, then monster reborn cannot special summoned this card from the graveyard, the same for card that special summoned from the banish zone. Summoned properly only exist here field, Xyz matterial, face-up extra deck(pendulum monster), Graveyard and Banish zone. Summoned properly is reset if it is bounce to hand, deck, face-down extra deck, and negated summoned. The one that says: Must be fusion summoned, even if summoned by fusion first you can't used monster reborn to bring it back even if it was properly summoned. And also does one the card that specia summoned them from the graveyard need ignore summoning condition plus the fusion monster as to be properly summoned. 11:25 There actually is a card that you can summon to your opponents field, and it's even a special summon that doesn't require them to have anything on the field first. But it's terrible. "Silent Wobby", you can special it to your opponents field, then they draw a card and you gain 2000 LP, and the controller of "Silent Wobby" now has a hand size limit of 3, as if that matters. Edit: I paused to make this comment, then you remembered the card right after. Still gonna leave the comment as is anyway. Enjoy the small algorithm boost.
how to mystic mine: 1.: win coin toss 2.: choose to go first 3.: put a really high attack towers on board (without any other monsters on your side, like the Ignister boss with 6k attack) 4.: once the combo is over: play mystic mine. 5.: if your opponent end up with no monsters, activate a different field spell so it doesn't affect you anymore. 6..:profit
You can play Plaguespreader Zombie even in non-Zombie Synchro decks, e. g. Flower Cardian, where its effect to control the top card of your deck is even very strong.
there's one small caveat to jinzo being bad. normally it's awful but when there's something in the meta that has a heavy trap focus to it, which there have been like 3 decent trap decks the last few years, jinzo becomes okay only as a side board card, like not something you want for game 1 but if your opponent is running a trap deck jinzo shuts the entire thing down just by existing in games 2 and 3.
Mystic mine is for anti meta deck you can use lava golem and special summon to the opponents field then activate mystic mine and summon inspector border , if i am not mistaken

Iirc isn't there a card called "Lava Golem" where you can summon it on your opponents side of the field by sacrificing 2 (or specifically 3?) of their monsters but it can't attack and they have to pay LP as long as it's on the field?
I feel like you should have let him read Kyoutou Waterfront and just clarified any point that were confusing/misunderstood. It did also make sense to do this since you were unsure of the text. Currently Dragunity has a combo that sets up Gameciel with max kaiju counters, Borreload Savage and baronne + some other stuff. Having a none once-per-turn omni negate is very strong so I find it funny that its best usage is actually as an end board piece. But yes generally speaking it's just a great piece of spot removal.
Yea Gameciel’s other effect is SUPER scary if you can get it off, it’s just really hard to get off in most decks, and I wanted to highlight the main use of the card and what makes it universally good for the most part

In Duel Links we actually summon cards out of our buttholes often. 💩 😭 Multiple skills just play monsters out of thin air... dont even have to play them in deck. 😂

The first thing in this video. Yu-Gi-Oh has so much text... YU-GI-OH. Yeah. Yu-Gi-Oh gets a lot of text... May I use my first example. WILD MAGIC SURGE!!! With literally a paragraph. Any dragon with over 7/7 stats. Phyrexians. First example. Brimaz, Blight of Oreskos. Yes. Yu-Gi-Oh cards can have a lot of text. But magic is not innocent either and don't pretend it is.
I will never really forgive Yugioh players for turning this game from "let's have a tense back and forth where nobody is ever truly out of the game because your opponent can mount a comeback" to "I love this game so much that I just want to win as soon as possible so that I don't have to play it anymore. There was a short time period where people played a single galaxy cyclone in their deck to use it's gy effect as an out. Then a mine player caught on and used beatcop to place a counter on mine to protect it. It only worked for a single ycs but at the event it worked really well..
The more i watch these type of videos, the more i realize this game doesnt feel like its super well designed and desperately needs some kind of structure to its wording on cards. I'm a magic player, so it feels like I'm kinda playing the figuring it out game too. Maybe its just me not knowing the game too well, but it also sounds like this game also desperately needs another format beside what feels like legacy only.
Yea I think yugioh would benefit from another Konami-supported format. Yea there’s Edison and Goat, but Konami doesn’t officially support those formats.
They just need to stop making deliberately broken crap . Re-evaluate the entire god damn game since they started wiith Dragon Rulars/Spellbooks in the XYZ era and say "If this card is so busted you absolute have to play Kaiju against it or lose turn 2its gone". About the Mine, many cards were played during the MM Burn era that you can give to your opponent so you can play your Mine Turn 0 , i can think of 2 that were played in YCS Topping decklists , the D.D guy and the Fish one

This is why I play Harpies and Hieratics to this day. Well, I don't actually play anymore, but I still have the decks.
Neither deck is all that combo heavy, and neither deck locks you out of the game. I simply OTK you through the simplest and most pure form of the game; combat damage.

Sucks that nowadays games can be simplified to 2 coin flips (who starts first and what's in your hand) or games that can be settled in like under 2 minutes (as in there's no coming back once you're losing. I would argue that Mystic Mine is not actually a good card. If you look at tournament results, on average it lost more games than it won. But it is just an absolute degenerate and toxic card that can just cheese you a win sometimes... it feels aweful to play and is aweful to play against, but i dont think it is THAT good. It absolutely should be banned in every format, but that does not mean its inherently good imo.

The thing with Last Will is that back in the day there wasn't an official ruling on how it even worked which was constantly the cause of rulings arguments. I played a jank deck that made use of Last Will and I basically had to talk to a judge before I started playing to see how they'd actually rule Last Will works because it was never consistent. I've had the card ruled that it had to be played before the a monster was sent from the field to the GY to it could only be played after because the "IF" was considered a cost, I had judges rule it had to target, I had judges rule that it could miss timing if multiple monsters were sent at the same time, I had judges rule that it couldn't be triggered off a monster sent for cost... it was literally never ruled consistently... god forbid you played two in the same turn!
I think Last Will should have always been a staple card, the issue was just that you could never rely on a ruling until there was an official one... which even that changed several times. Anyway it's been banned ever since we got a consistent ruling.
You can summon Jinzo now by dumping it to the grave and reviving it with Sanctifire post side to shutdown trap decks, which people have unironically done in the year 2023 😅

I think those are few and far between though, and cards like lightning storm and evenly matched do the same thing but better most of the time

Ahhh... the days when plaguespreader was broken... it and the old vamps got me obsessed with zombies in highschool. SO glad that Zombies are still getting newer support and can at least be a good rogue deck.

@AliEldrazi: To properly explain the continous effect of the shaddoll Winda: It turn all special summoned for both player into the rules of pendulum summoned but does not become treated as a pendulum summoned. So if that card is already on the field an its effect is not negated, if chain link 2 special summoned 1 monster, and then chain link 1 special summoned a monster. Since chain link 2 resolve first that one will be special summoned but chain link 1 will not be special summoned and the special summoned monster since you can't special summoned anymore goes to the graveyard by game mechanic. However if chain link 2 special summoned 4 monster and it considered at the same time, and then chain link 1 Special summoned only one monster. Then chain link 2 would special summmoned all 4 monsters because that is still within the restriction, then chain link 1 resolve and that monster goes to the graveyard by game mechanic. If chain link 2 was 1 special summoned and chain link 1 was 4 special summoned at the same time. Then the 1 special summoned would happen, then when chain link 1 resolve all 4 goes to the graveyard by game mechanic.
As some who also loves insane combos in Magic. I think he would get a kick out of the things you can do in Yu-Gi-Oh. A couple of years ago, I made a Yu-Gi-Oh deck that can infinitely skip my opponents' turn. While adding things back to my deck. So, basically just freezing the game. It was convoluted. But it's awesome when you get all the pieces working.
I utilized some Fluffals, Athena, and Arcana Force XXI.

The best Card is Field Barrier and silent Wobby which Looks the Opponent Right at the Spot. Ojama Trio was a Card only used in earlier builds when Jeff Leonard only started to build mystic mine .

you can't really describe why winda was so good without explaining how shaddoll could summon construct and winda in the same turn and there was then so little the opponent could do in that meta outside of having a deck that could normal big monsters or use monarchs stormforth. literally the only thing that kept shaddoll in check was the fact Qli was full power and main decked skill drain

However if the fusion monster that is a must first be fusion summoned is send to the graveyard or banish dirrectly from extra deck, then monster reborn cannot special summoned this card from the graveyard, the same for card that special summoned from the banish zone. Summoned properly only exist here field, Xyz matterial, face-up extra deck(pendulum monster), Graveyard and Banish zone. Summoned properly is reset if it is bounce to hand, deck, face-down extra deck, and negated summoned. The one that says: Must be fusion summoned, even if summoned by fusion first you can't used monster reborn to bring it back even if it was properly summoned. And also does one the card that specia summoned them from the graveyard need ignore summoning condition plus the fusion monster as to be properly summoned. The one that says must first be fusion summoned, they are card that says special summoned a monster from the extra deck, does one can be special summoned this way, however this will not work for must be fusion summoned, and being summoned that way, without this added information (treated as fusion summoned) that mean it is not summoned properly and cannot be special summoned from the graveyard or banish.etc. And ignore summoning condition will work for the extra deck for both must first be fusion summoned, and also must be fusion summoned but remember it is not summoned properly. 11:25 There actually is a card that you can summon to your opponents field, and it's even a special summon that doesn't require them to have anything on the field first. But it's terrible. "Silent Wobby", you can special it to your opponents field, then they draw a card and you gain 2000 LP, and the controller of "Silent Wobby" now has a hand size limit of 3, as if that matters.

1.: win coin toss
2.: choose to go first
3.: put a really high attack towers on board (without any other monsters on your side, like the Ignister boss with 6k attack)
4.: once the combo is over: play mystic mine.
5.: if your opponent end up with no monsters, activate a different field spell so it doesn't affect you anymore.
6..:profit
7: profit again
You can play Plaguespreader Zombie even in non-Zombie Synchro decks, e. g. Flower Cardian, where its effect to control the top card of your deck is even very strong.

there's one small caveat to jinzo being bad. normally it's awful but when there's something in the meta that has a heavy trap focus to it, which there have been like 3 decent trap decks the last few years, jinzo becomes okay only as a side board card, like not something you want for game 1 but if your opponent is running a trap deck jinzo shuts the entire thing down just by existing in games 2 and 3.

They can play their own on the other person’s board but they can’t summon one on their own board
Iirc isn't there a card called "Lava Golem" where you can summon it on your opponents side of the field by sacrificing 2 (or specifically 3?) of their monsters but it can't attack and they have to pay LP as long as it's on the field?
Yes! It’s useful still to this day if your deck doesn’t need to normal summon, since lava golem says you can’t normal summon the turn you summon it
Lava Golem is for two monsters. Sphere Mode is three.
I feel like you should have let him read Kyoutou Waterfront and just clarified any point that were confusing/misunderstood. It did also make sense to do this since you were unsure of the text. Currently Dragunity has a combo that sets up Gameciel with max kaiju counters, Borreload Savage and baronne + some other stuff. Having a none once-per-turn omni negate is very strong so I find it funny that its best usage is actually as an end board piece. But yes generally speaking it's just a great piece of spot removal.
Yea Gameciel’s other effect is SUPER scary if you can get it off, it’s just really hard to get off in most decks, and I wanted to highlight the main use of the card and what makes it universally good for the most part

There was a short time period where people played a single galaxy cyclone in their deck to use it's gy effect as an out. Then a mine player caught on and used beatcop to place a counter on mine to protect it. It only worked for a single ycs but at the event it worked really well..

The more i watch these type of videos, the more i realize this game doesnt feel like its super well designed and desperately needs some kind of structure to its wording on cards. I'm a magic player, so it feels like I'm kinda playing the figuring it out game too. Maybe its just me not knowing the game too well, but it also sounds like this game also desperately needs another format beside what feels like legacy only.
Yea I think yugioh would benefit from another Konami-supported format. Yea there’s Edison and Goat, but Konami doesn’t officially support those formats.
