The reason why the stock Dell cooler ran better than expected was because it has been used in a open case scenario. In Dell's prebuilts, there's not much airflow available for them to breath, hence the high temps.
The CO version of the Arctic cooler means it uses a ball bearing fan, hence why it is a little louder. CO stands for continuous operation, meant for always on reliability. The rest of the coolers all use either basic sleeve/rifle bearings, or fluid bearings (the Deepcool models). As to the Dell cooler, it performed so well because the fan is insane (they used to be Deltas, but I can't say for sure that is what the one in the video is). That's why Dell hides the fan curve with it, because on their systems, the curve is tuned for noise performance, at the expense of CPU temps. By using it on another board, it no longer is limited to roughly 60% PWM, like it would be on an actual Dell system. So the results are basically invalidated for two reasons.
I have a similar Arctic cooler in my case for an AM4 socket. My fan is much quieter than yours, subjectively admittedly. I have used several of these and all are quieter than what you show. Artic case fans tend to be quiet and long lasting as is the Alpine series and AC does honor the 6 year warranty. Which i seriously doubt the others would do. Also due to the down draft of this style of low profile cooler, they have the added benefit of cooling the VRM. And it does amke a difference.
I think the dell cooler performed that well because it was the only one that had screws leading to more evenly spread force against the cpu heat spreader which propably lead to better heat antisipation
I replaced the stock cooler on my 9400F with a Be Quiet basic tower cooler. I think the biggest benefit was the reduction in noise. I think that was the rationale behind buying it as the temps weren't that bad with the Intel leaf blower.
1:35 I have the same deepcool gammax 200t on my i5-8400, and running at the full 75w for a couple hours running the furmark CPU burner, it only gets to 70c, with an ambient of 22-23c

I have the arctic. I bought it not because it was cheap but because I needed a low profile cooler. Like really low profile. Less than 4 inches tall. It works perfectly. I’ve daily used it for gaming for the past 2 years. It actually cools similar to the noctua version for a good amount cheaper.
I bought a Zalman cooler, different than the one featured here , and it's fantastic. Has better temps than the previous cheapo cooler I had (Thermaltake UX100)
When he said he had another one I knew instantly what I wanted it to be. I’ve used a dell stock cooler my entire life. It’s Way louder then you would expect a fan to be, especially when it spins up all the way
I have the Gammaxx 200T and it cools quite well i7 from 3-4 generations (the CPUs are being used in stock). The cooler is quite flimsy, but if you are careful it performs great for the price.
I have that Gammax 200t. Its on a i5 2500k running at 4.6ghz pulling 1.38 vcore. Ive always loved that little 13 dollar cooler, been rocking it in my older PC builds for a while.
I got a Be Quiet Pure Rock cpu cooler for my prebuilt around $30-40 and it's been fantastic. Haven't seen any reviews for it, but it works wonderfully and it's well quiet the acoustics are much lower than the intel e waste that my PC came with.
I picked up an interesting cooler recently for an ITX build. It's a vetroo V3 92mm tower cooler. Cutest little thing but i put it on a Ryzen 2200G and it barely broke 50C on AIDA64
Nice video, I had to replace my HP Omen stock cooler with a cheap BeQuiet2 which worked a treat. I do think the temp results would be slightly different if mounted in a case as the tower cooler can be positioned to blow out the case where-as all the other coolers just blow hot air down on the motherboard within the case, recirculating the hot air which would add to the tower coolers overall winning position
I've had that bigger deepcool cooler on my i7 3770... It was a decent upgrade over stock Intel cooler. But then again literally anything is an upgrade over stock Intel garbage.
I will always go tower if the case can fit it, keeping air flowing in one general direction is preferable to those low profile coolers that disrupt the flow with cross wind.
Tip: Buy a used Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo. Literally just got one for 20 bucks from a friend and i couldnt be happier. Not to mention that you can upgrade to a much more powerful CPU down the road and not care about cooling. On the other hand, the DeepCool Gamma Archer and the Arctic Horse coolers surprised me. From my experience, those kinds of coolers perform about as well as the intel stock cooler (not good) but maybe thats because im working with older parts that let out more heat.
Been using the Gamma archer on an intel pentium gold G5400 and it stays below 60°c even on heavy load it also cools the board/ram with a large airflow also blue is quite eye-catching but the fan can get quite noisy. 9/10 would recommend
On deep cool coolers you can twist those mounting pins like screws to get them out. Easier than making a lever with screwdriver and you do not risk of breaking them.
So production cost on a small fan made of aluminum and plastic should come in at around 1.80 dollars to 2.3 dollars per fan depending on material cost and size I gathered this amunt form a 120mm x 150 mm fan :)
@@AS-zq2cq there is an ID cooling one as well for 65-70 rgb, same performance as the cooler master, i think its the master liquid v2 rgb variant you are talking about.
1:29 why does the one in the middle remind me of the Intel Stock Cooler Edit: After watching him testing it, it is basically a Intel Stock Cooler. Also enjoyed the Dell cooler return.
Got the deal of the year when I bought 5 AMD Wraith Stealth coolers for 6€ each for my LED light project. worked amazing, cools more than good enough at 8V so there's hardly any audible noise.
I have a kitted out Dell optiplex 3090 with six fans in it. I come from a time when having a lot of fans on your computer was cool. In my opinion, the hum it makes is absolutely amazing.
My friend has a DC C40 which we added a 2nd fan so its a push pull config and it coosted a total or 20€. 18€ the cooker with 1 of the fans, and 2€ for a used 92mm fan because the cooler is 92mm tower, and on a 115w tdp cpu it kept it under 70c
Awesome, thank for the comparison, was looking to replace a stock cooler with a dead fan on old pc and was wondering if I buy a good fan for 10$ or a complete new cooler for similar price range
When you showed the guest surprise cooler I laughed so much but then got very impressed by it and now I don't know what to do with myself I am speechless as to how it got those temps.
That 200T deep cool cooler has been around 20 dollars since at least 2016. Used in my FX-6300 gaming system which I built in 2016 which happened to be my first gaming PC. But a really capable cooler. I ran a 4.4 ghz OC on my 6300 for years and it never got crazy hot like those FX chips liked to do. If my memory serves me correctly it never got hotter than 70c which back then was relatively cool for an AMD chip of that Era lol
I've been using the Gamaxx 200T with my Ryzen 5 1600X for about three years now and I'm quite happy with it. It's a pain to get it on with AMD mounting as well, you have to really bend those clips to secure it, or you could loosen up the pegs and do it that way. The fan clips are not the best feeling as well, but I guess you get what you paid for. But in the roughly 6 months between cleanings I do, it works perfectly and I've never seen the CPU go above 65C even in games like Cyberpunk 2077.
The reason the tower finished so far ahead isn't because it's a tower, it's because it's the only one here with actual heat pipes and not just a milled block of aluminium with a bunch of bent fins radiating out. I suppose it's going to be difficult to find budget top down coolers with heatpipes, but if they exist they're going to finish similarly well and might even cool surrounding components like the VRMs better than a tower would.
Running an x58 motherboard + 6 core 2.93 ghz Xeon x5670 in a early 2000's Antec full atx case with one 80 mm fan and the Intel stock cooler. It idles at 70c and sounds like a jet engine. Gonna have free heat in my guest house this Winter.
I'm not surprised the Dell cooler is able to compete, but I am surprised at where it placed. Stock coolers are SO underrated. They tend to actually do perfectly fine in a normal case, it's just that the cases prebuilts use have like no airflow. Of course, if you had a super hot running CPU, no stock cooler for you, but I've used everything from like AMD Phenom quad-cores to i5's (so max power draw of I think 95W) and they all did fine with stock coolers. By fine, I mean they didn't ever hit their max temps under load, and thus didn't throttle. What stock coolers lack in metal, they tend to make up for in raw fan speed, so a cheaper way to achieve the same temperature result, albeit with much more noise. Bonus: If you're building something using the AM3 socket, totally recommend the stock coolers. You can get cheap $5 Chinese copies that perform the same, and then the 125W versions of the stock coolers are good too, because they're literally Wraith Prisms with smaller fans on them.
My artist gf chimed in about product design on the fans, as the colour blue suggests cool, calming, and trustworthy operation. You can do some really cool just playing with colours on products.
I can attest, that cooler that comes with Intel pre-builts is loud like a hurricaine. I replaced it with an Arctric Freezer 33 esports One and replaced the fan with a Arctic Freezer P12 bc I could not find the cooler with a fan color I liked. This moved saved my hearing and decreased my temps by about 15 C.
If you want a really good cheap cooler, go for the Aigo L4, i paid around 15$ and has 4 heatpipes, it can keep my Ryzen 5 2600 under 60 degrees celsius while playing COD Vanguard.
I bought the GAMMAXX 200T for a very old, core 2 quad q9400, last December because when I was changing cases and reapplying thermal paste, the stock cooler pins broke. I only use that computer to stream TH-cam with but it is nearly silent and doing a much better job than the stock cooler. I got it on sale for $14.99. Spending more than that doesn't make sense for that computer.
I watched this video to see whether or not I should replace the Dell stock cooler with another downdraft cooler, but now it looks like I'll just replace the thermal paste. I am running 2 more of the EXACT SAME AVC 80mm fan as the Dell cooler in the back of my case, so I don't think a new cooler would help.
PC cooler makes some weird stuff. They make aftermarket GPU coolers for lower power GPUs, PcCooler K80/K81/K90/K91. I think they might be interesting things for you to review!
Does this Zalman have PWM speed control? I don't think it does. But as far as 20 year old coolers go, theirs are pretty amazing. It's curious how much mileage you can get when the quality and precision of manufacturing is high, that fan should have been by all reason a lot louder, and it's not strictly silent, but the sonic signature that it has is very pleasant.

"Starting off with the Pc Cooler cooler" had me laughing 😆
Cutest little thing but i put it on a Ryzen 2200G and it barely broke 50C on AIDA64
i mean i expected the dell cooler to be loud but DANG THAT WAS LOUD
Nice video, I had to replace my HP Omen stock cooler with a cheap BeQuiet2 which worked a treat. I do think the temp results would be slightly different if mounted in a case as the tower cooler can be positioned to blow out the case where-as all the other coolers just blow hot air down on the motherboard within the case, recirculating the hot air which would add to the tower coolers overall winning position
The dell cooler he’s using is at max rpm, my same cooler at home is barely loud and really silent, also seems to have good performance
I've had that bigger deepcool cooler on my i7 3770... It was a decent upgrade over stock Intel cooler. But then again literally anything is an upgrade over stock Intel garbage.
Great video as always. Enjoyed the surprise guest.
I love how he says PC cooler cooler.
Yay, a new Dawid video! Let's have a cup of coffee and watch this.
There are alot of AIO cooler's on Amazon that are pretty decent for $40-$70 from 120-240
The ID cooling frostflow goes for $50 i think and its a 240mill, I saw some tests of it and its pretty good.
Arctic Liquid Freezer is the way to go. It even outperforms some higher end AIO's
Yeah there’s a coolermaster 240 AIO with RGB fans that goes for 80~ so
I’d say that’s some good value
@@AS-zq2cq there is an ID cooling one as well for 65-70 rgb, same performance as the cooler master, i think its the master liquid v2 rgb variant you are talking about.
@@felixklimm7225 yeah liquid freezer v2 goes for around a $100 and its one of the best on the market.
1:29 why does the one in the middle remind me of the Intel Stock Cooler
Edit: After watching him testing it, it is basically a Intel Stock Cooler. Also enjoyed the Dell cooler return.
Got the deal of the year when I bought 5 AMD Wraith Stealth coolers for 6€ each for my LED light project. worked amazing, cools more than good enough at 8V so there's hardly any audible noise.
I was hoping that the Dell cooler would make its apperance, i was not disappointed, thank you Dawid!
I have the Gammax 300B cpu cooler. It was around 25$ when i bought it and it is doing a great job at keeping my i5 10400f cpu cool
Ah yes the battle of the $1000 pre built cpu coolers.
I really liked this video, can you make another one comparing the gammax to popular coolers like the stock amd cooler and some other ones?
Had zalman quiet cooler back in the day, wicket cooler indeed used for over ten years.
You should have used a cheap thermal paste like arctic mx2 ,that tube costs almost like one of these coolers :)
I bought the tower cooler because of this video. Thanks Dawid!
I was impressed by the little zalman cooler, it's not even the copper version
I've used zalman coolers for ages, the copper 6 heatpipe versions
I've been pretty happy with DeepCool products. I use their RGB fans and higher end RGB air cooler in my gaming PC and the temps are great.
For the Deep Cool 200T, you have to flip the 775-115X white switch before removing it, everything comes loose when you do it.
Got a HEAVY overkill cpu cooler on my 10400F right now.
43c MAX with the Alpenfohn Olymp twin tower dual 140mm.
Running an x58 motherboard + 6 core 2.93 ghz Xeon x5670 in a early 2000's Antec full atx case with one 80 mm fan and the Intel stock cooler. It idles at 70c and sounds like a jet engine. Gonna have free heat in my guest house this Winter.
so.... should you get an after market 20 30 dollar cooler or are you just better of with a stock intel/amd cooler?
D, use the screwdriver to rotate the black pins, as it is supposed to be done (see the indentation on the top of them?). They come out easy then.
Got the 200T for my mega power Intel Quad q9400 pc . Works great 30 deg C decrease from stock Intel .
9:41 then why didn't you do that first before breaking anything ?
GAMMAXX 200T is probably the best of the budget bunch. I'm currently using a GAMMAXX 400 as some others here and it's really good.
It's curious how much mileage you can get when the quality and precision of manufacturing is high, that fan should have been by all reason a lot louder, and it's not strictly silent, but the sonic signature that it has is very pleasant.
saw the arctic cooler in the intro, guessing that one is gonna win before watching the video
edit: saw the deepcool after the sponsor, i may have been wrong
