David I’m unsubscribing, this channel has gone completely down hill and some of the guests that you’ve had on have lots me LOTS of money and they are all predicting the end of the world constantly. OVER IT
For most of my life of 65 years, farmers have struggled to keep from loosing the farm. Now, farmers are loosing their farms. As the son of a farmer, I learned how to grow my own food. Growing our own food may well become the latest trend for survival. I can grow enough food for my family on an acre or two. It might be inconvenient, but it's doable. I'm expecting a depression because of government spending. Naturally, I'm preparing to grow my family's food in the coming hard times. And, I'm encouraging others to do the same.
I have tried to grow food in florida. Just extras like some veggies and fruit trees. I only have a 1/4 acre. Between the sand, heat and hurricanes I find it less expensive to buy at the local farmers market. They are a small farm but organic so I'm good with the prices. Especially with my previous expensive failures where I think I had $25.00 strawberries :)
Lets lift the restrictions from HOA 's in all 50 states regarding the use of front and back yards of homes in America!!Nearly half of all homes are strongarmed by HOA boards that levy fines and liens on homeowners who replace lawns with gardens!! Not to mention the problem of homeowners that use pesticides in the yard to create pristine grass!!
I'm just a retired bicycle shop owner. In the 70's, 80's, and 90's, a new bike was at the top of every kids gift list. At Christmas, birthday, etc. a lot of kids wanted a bicycle. Technology killed that. And by 2000, no kid wanted a bike, they wanted; a sit on the couch game. Add the fake fear of going outside, my child could be hurt. Better, lets give in to video games and kill'em by not encouraging; "Go outside and play!" And what did we do when there was nothing to do? We found some other kids and got into constructed good trouble. The last thing you said to your parents was, "There's nothing to do", cause they will find something to do and you probably won't like. I think, true leaders are forged at about 8 or 9 years old. Sitting on the couch, playing video games, interacting digitally VS Running around outside, making friends, interacting socially, and getting into "good" trouble. Sick, scared, isolated? Or healthy, confident, and socially responsible? Calling me "old timer" is a compliment. Observations from almost 70 years of perpetual motion. (nod to Jimmy Buffet)
Amen to that. Seeing articles lately of parents getting arrested or charged with child endangerment for letting their kids play or roam outside is insanity.
New children have new minds and we have a chance because normal is always what kids avoid. Wasting time and life has become normal and new kids are not cool with it. They are interested in Nature when exposed to its awe-inducing vibes. Bicycles can be a medium to awe again if the motors are regulated.
If your average home owning American was to expend as much energy and money towards a home food garden, as they do towards a lush green front yard, we’d never have a food shortage again.
For what its worth, after I changed from margarine to butter and seed oil to olive oil my cholesterol dropped 30 points. Also, when I left a job I discovered all my $ savings were from cooking from scratch most of the time.
I work from home and I only cook, never ordering the food or going out to eat. Not only quality it's 10x better, but recently I calculated in average I save somewhere around 50-70%. I also make my own bread using bread maker machine. When I calculate electricity and ingredients its almost 3x cheaper (not to mention zillion times more healthy considering there are no dangerous additives). And yes margarine is a poison. It's made out of plant oils and it's very bad for blood arteries.
*_"Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food"_* .Healthcare begins in the kitchen. I do all food processing in house. Nothing prepackaged and processed goes into my shopping cart. My health has greatly improved. If I don't make it, I do not eat it. Full stop. I take my food choices/health decisions seriously.
@wingedlyon The internet is full of educational videos, blogs, podcasts, recipes and study materials with the latest information on health, supplements, herbs, lifestyle and recipe and nutritional substitutes. I had everything from tooth problems to back pain. I googled my issues and got my answers. A good example of some excellent information I learned was using use a toothpaste with xylitol and my tooth plaque problems were solved. Instead of using too much salt, I use different vinegars like apple cider, red wine, balsamic and lemon and lime juices instead. Instead of using margarine, I use a small amount of butter. I use high smoke point oils like coconut and avocado for cooking instead of soybean, canola or vegetable oils. I use olve oil as a dressing as it loses its nutritional value when used in cooking.

Nice to hear someone tell the truth about our "free market". The large corporations and their lobbyists have created a regulatory system that makes it extremely difficult for small operations to comply, forcing them out. This isn't just in agriculture but in all industries. It's by design, "the bigs get bigger" by Gerald Celente who also says, "when all else fails they take you to war". It's going to be wild ride if the new admin tries to change much.
This episode caused me to like and subscribe for the first time. Thank you, thank you for bringing on this guest!! We need much more mainstream exposure to things like soil health, the carbon cycle, the healthy use of free animals to regenerate the landscape. Bravo to both of you!
Being involved in agriculture myself, I agree that farming practices in the last 200 years has created devastation to our natural resources. But on an even larger scale, our cities in manufacturing have done a much more horrendous disservice to nature.
wonderful podcast! I would love the cottage food regulations to be relaxed here in MA. ME relaxed theirs several years ago letting backyard poultry producers sell to the public from their homes...up to a limited amount like 300 birds per year. This would go a long way to solving so many problems. No recalls from my backyard farm, my gardens, my berry patches or my freezer.

He can educate farmers of all varieties - large, small, regenerative, backyard, patio, windowsill and everything n between. He mentions Rosales as an influence in his family’s farm growth. Rosales was an influence n my life as well. Since I am now 81 years old, I remember a time when there was, thankfully, NO McDonalds, Wendy’s, Jack N The Box , etc. There was only Dairy Queen and A&W Rootbeer. We had fewer food choices since there was no globalization or out-of-season food choices. To this day at age 81 I have no chronic disease, no knee or hip replacements, no cataract surgery, no heart attack, cancer or stroke. Am so grateful to have learned the lessons of healthy food choices before having my health destroyed. It has been said that a healthy man or woman has a million dreams while a chronically sick person has only one!

Shop local! Please this weekend find a visit your local market. Any amount you purchase helps support and strengthen local supply and your local economy. Even if you buy 3 potatoes, 1 lb of ground beef and a dozen eggs and get everything else from Aldi, you are making a real difference. Double or triple your impact by meeting a few friends and making it social time. This is definitely food for thought. We have a recreational horse farm in Arizona. Our land is pretty much unusable for farming but it's excellent for raising cattle. We started regenerative farming around ten years ago. We are now able to feed ourselves and a portion of our livestock. Thank you Mr .Salatin and the Native Americans for teaching me how to coexist with the land.
I grow a few vegetables and fruits in pots on the deck. The taste is unbeatable. I do have some blueberry bushes and am lucky that a type of raspberry grows wild in many spots in the neighborhood. Mostly I shop the local farmers market for produce and get some meat from there as well.
OR... you could buy from a local farmer. I guarantee that within a 15-minute drive, you'll find a farm stand or market where you can buy fresh produce or connect with a regenerative rancher who will sell you very inexpensive beef. Clean poultry and eggs are probably within reach, too.
Love Joel!❤ I know people starting their own gardens because they don't trust the produce at grocery stores. We 'homestead' in town with a large organic garden, 4 fruit trees, nut trees, and chickens. We buy a hog and half beef from a local rancher. When you keep it local and eat in season you don't worry so much about supply chains.
Awesome. That's what gardens/lawns were for initially. 👍 Now we know you can even grow in cracks in cement and grow vertically. The options are limitless.
The dumps around here are full of plastics, metal, electronics, furniture, tires, paints and oils, along with a few other things, the edible stuff is eaten by seagulls and forest critters. Not sure I'd want to compost anything from the dump and put it in my garden.
For many years I have thought that every city large and small should have factors for people who are able to work to have to work for the money they get from welfare and even get over time it is absolutely ridiculous to get free money to so many people. They also need a daycare at every factory fully equipped where mothers can go and sit and feed the baby with good clean daycare. If people had to work they would be much more carful about how they spend the money they have to work for common since.
You don’t have to get rid of government…you have to get rid of the MONEY!!!!!!! Having smart people help us succeed isn’t wrong…having rich people pay them to say what they want IS!
Great interview!!! Not sure you David, and most people understand.. the biggest problem are vegetable oils and processed food... and YES, this includes sodas, Wendy's haha... then there's sugar and general education... and of course, the strong pharma lobby, which keeps people uneduaceted and unhealthy
@ ok I will give you that one. What I meant was compared to say cooking in a pot stove you. Have to wait for the food to heat up and cool down. I think the cool down adds time. But the food is great and the work minimal. My favourite is that the inner pot is stainless steel and not a chemical infested non stick coating. I really do not know why everybody does not have one as I do sooo much cooking with it. From high pressure cooking of stew to marking yogurt at body temperature. Also everything in between.
But there is no free markets in USA. We have all kind of subsidies in Agriculture,Oil abd Gas, Pharma, Public Transport, energy, Etc. May be it is needed but your believe in free market is misplaced.
China subsidizes food production and the people love the government. Privatization is theft from the people. Free market is a myth just Just like capitalism is a shared fantasy.Ask the expert on such things Prof. SAM VAKNIN
MAHA is not make agriculure healthy again but instead getting chemicals out of our food, promoting healthy lifestyles, etc. All for regenerative farming. Love Joel and happy to see will be part of the advisory team
Food shortage? We import very little and people can learn how to ear locally and seasonally, which is healthier and more nutrios anyway, like the rest of the world
Yeah you completely forgot about export and who is the owner of the means of production and who decides distribution. You can dream about communism , but you have to actually work at it
@Tater-Skinz I worship nature. I can see and experience nature. Humans and their overactive brain always needs a bigger explanation to simple things. Our lives today are far worse than Sodom and Gomorrah. Where is God's intervention? Why was God only interactive with us hundreds of years ago and not today? Where is the modern burning bush talking to people?
China put a retaliatory tariff on our Soy in 2018 that cost American $ 30B by 2020, we still have to fund farmers for about $10B a year due to the 2018 trade war.
@@drmodestoesq Good. We shouldn't be subsidizing the environmental and food-security disaster that industrial soy monocropping has been, and instead encourage better farming techniques to grow better food.
@@marcushoward6560 Get rid of farm subsidies in Red States? Then the hypocritical "conservative" red state politicians would pitch a fit. Wait until farmers are getting their cheap illegal immigrant labour deported....that's going to be hilarious.
Ummmm look up how many family farms went out of business during his first term. Most in history. Farmers we almost got him in last time. It’s all crazy to me but Ian not a farmer. Maybe they like getting screwed over
Really miscellaneous comment: my older sister took Home Ec in high school in mid-1970’s; she learnt how to make different kinds of yeasted bread, healthy cakes, different meal sandwiches from scratch, etc.. in hindsight, what she made in late 1970’s-1980’s from learning in that class was a lot healthier - purer, more wholesome, nutritionally more balanced, etc. - than the majority of food in the U.S. market in these ~20 years. 😊
Well, I haven't got there yet, but the man just admitted he's a crazy libertarian. And you know capitalism is a shared fantasy. We already have a bunch of greedy corporations making cheap unhealthy food.I don't know what either of you are talking about. But I guess I'll find out if I can
Hair in his right eye (nearly) and rooster tails galore! I'm a happy camper. He has the coolest hair-do among financial analysts on TH-cam! I do pay attention to the video content too, believe it or not.
I watched a good DVD on food production...'Our Daily Bread' (2009) Icarus Films . I got it from the library. It was made about food production in Germany. No talking, just video. Excellent behind the scenes film on how commercial food is made.
Yours is a created problem. I enjoyed listening to Joel as I worked in my kitchen and I wasn’t doing much. I was just keeping it clean so that I could cook it in the next minute.
Perfection is a direction not a destination. If MAHA & MAGA can move America in a better direction for peace, prosperity, & health I'm thrilled. Step one is the Libertarian solution of 1st stop the government from doing and subsidizing bad. Hard part is - is there enough time to turn the ship of state from the immediate icebergs of WWIII, 35 trillion in debt, and our poisoned food/health system.
The WEF / UN ambition to destroy food production, and expropriate land from family farms continues a pace. They are targeting use of fertilisers and energy input costs tomake them. They are targeting land available to farm, with rewilding obligations, or huge taxes that force farmers to sell up land. They are regulating 'emissions' and pushing for land to have solar panels on them. Europe/UK also is getting less and less self-sufficient. We are run by people who are very detrimental to us in the USA, and rest if the Western world
But the Chinese are not they instituted land reform, and every citizen is involved in the means of production and the decisions about distribution .Check it out. 94% of them.Love it and save 30% of their money. They have a future the western don't

The USDA did NOT says fruit loops and cheerios are more nutritious than beef! Also, since the government lessen it's restrictions on policies for food safety (as that is what was done the last t rump presidency). Has caused NUMEROUS food recalls due to food toxicity!!!
Not to worry the bread basket of the world is just north of you... Lots of unused grazing land. Not to mention the 4th largest oil reserves in the world. Canada has your back.
@@rexmann1984 Back in the 1980's we offered to sell Canada to you for 1 million dollars for every Canadian over the age of 18. Damn compared to paying 6 million for Alaska ya could have printed up 20 trillion out of thin air and become the largest country in the world... and would have made it back on just the Alberta oil sands...
The culture has gotten more food focused. If you went out to dinner, it cost around $5, and you got a regular portion. Now portions are much larger, and costs are higher. If you went to the grocery store, you would come out with a bag or two of food for a family not a cartful to load your trunk with. News shows would report the news and not cooking segments. People weren't food focused. They had other interests in life. Obese people used to stand out and not be the norm. A fat child in school would stand out. There weren't so many fast-food places either. There might be a McDonald's that was far away or a Dunkin Donuts that only had donuts and coffee or a Kentucky Fried Chicken that had basically the chicken and a few sides. People went there rarely to never. Moms would cook a dinner for the family, and they would eat together.
Overweight, maybe exercise a little and lower your caloric intake. If this dude is anti-gmo he’s not credible. Sri Lanka went organic with a devastating result. If you think food prices are high now follow his advice and watch what happens.
You're definitely over simplifying. What happened? It is about the world bank exerting control that is for sure It had nothing to do with the sustainability of organics.Or not
Re healthy v tasty food ...... individuals need to learn about effects of NATURAL, versus CHEMICAL/FAKE food ..... on both their MENTAL and Physical bodies. We're not taught this in school systems, hence eating disorders, depression etc
Someone please send this video to president Trump. These are the type of smart people that should be in our government🥰..this guy is amazing.. this is why I grow my food for my family ❤
1st and I need to do is get control of all the foreign agent companies that bought up over 400,000 acres of farmland here in United States. Second of all stop paying Farmers to not to farm. Give farmers tax credits on fertilizer fuel expenses in labor. Thirdly stop the push of soy and corn and push other produce. And break down the the companies that are buying up all these food chains and processing plants like Black Rock vanguard. It's not for nothing control the majority of what goes on with the food in this country. Farm farm is what we need to do worry about our own people and feeding our own people and stop importing 80 something percent of our food
How will tariffs impact the food supply?

Grass fed beef has gotten much cheaper the last decade now its sourced and grown locally all over. The premium vs CAFO beef is very small now.
RFK rolling up his sleeves watching this..
Now we know you can even grow in cracks in cement and grow vertically. The options are limitless.
@tracelee7332 Yes! I love your point of view and optimism!❤️
The dumps around here are full of plastics, metal, electronics, furniture, tires, paints and oils, along with a few other things, the edible stuff is eaten by seagulls and forest critters. Not sure I'd want to compost anything from the dump and put it in my garden.
I bought chickens from this guy back in the 90s!!!
I have some of his rabbits from his bloodlines!!
here in nova scotia, the big stores are selling pickles from india and thailand.. crazy..
Thank you guys!!!!

Great interview!!! Not sure you David, and most people understand.. the biggest problem are vegetable oils and processed food... and YES, this includes sodas, Wendy's haha... then there's sugar and general education... and of course, the strong pharma lobby, which keeps people uneduaceted and unhealthy
So you mean capitalism, Right?
100% accurate opinions - nice to hear sane voices. Labour is the biggest roadblock, is my understanding.
Instant pots are great. They don’t save time but they do save work.
What are you talking about? My 8-10 hour roast in a crockpot goes to 1 hour in an instant pot.
I have tried it, my slow cooker does a much better job of making tender meat and stews.
this going to take awhile...soil regeneration takes years.
Super great information Brothers 👍😊❤
But there is no free markets in USA. We have all kind of subsidies in Agriculture,Oil abd Gas, Pharma, Public Transport, energy, Etc. May be it is needed but your believe in free market is misplaced.
End all subsidies

Oh! Joel Seleten. I will listen to him, even if I can’t spell his name.
Thanks for sharing XAI27H and SUI. 💯
Food shortage? We import very little and people can learn how to ear locally and seasonally, which is healthier and more nutrios anyway, like the rest of the world
Yeah you completely forgot about export and who is the owner of the means of production and who decides distribution.
You can dream about communism , but you have to actually work at it
Joel is spitting fire to this libertarian no-till farmer! Get your hands dirty growing your own food! Then get in the kitchen and worship that food!
Better to worship the generous God that gives it.

China import more foods and agricultural products like soybean from the US than exporting to the US.
The Chinese are going to put a giant tariff on US soybeans and import them from South America instead.
China put a retaliatory tariff on our Soy in 2018 that cost American $ 30B by 2020, we still have to fund farmers for about $10B a year due to the 2018 trade war.
@@MrBishop077 Don't confuse a MAGA supporter with the facts.
@@drmodestoesq Good. We shouldn't be subsidizing the environmental and food-security disaster that industrial soy monocropping has been, and instead encourage better farming techniques to grow better food.

Put Home Economics back into the school curriculum and build new schools and pay teachers
Tried and failed. Homeschool has a history of success
@@davidelliott2485 How would you know it failed? I almost never see economics or finance being taught in K-12.
Looks like the Dept. of Education is on the chopping block..

I watch your channel all the time I love the guy you got on I watch him too
Maybe people will realize it’s a good idea to grow more food here.

Yours is a created problem. I enjoyed listening to Joel as I worked in my kitchen and I wasn’t doing much. I was just keeping it clean so that I could cook it in the next minute.
Last time i checked the US were a net exporter of grains etc... its one of its main advantages, its not dependent on foreign raw materials.
Perfection is a direction not a destination. If MAHA & MAGA can move America in a better direction for peace, prosperity, & health I'm thrilled. Step one is the Libertarian solution of 1st stop the government from doing and subsidizing bad. Hard part is - is there enough time to turn the ship of state from the immediate icebergs of WWIII, 35 trillion in debt, and our poisoned food/health system.
and Biden just gave 64 billion to the World Bank today
Young people can get away with eating unhealthy but as you age you have to and forced to eat healthier ❤
The toxins they consume in youth will affect them later in life.
We need more frigen protein😮
The WEF / UN ambition to destroy food production, and expropriate land from family farms continues a pace. They are targeting use of fertilisers and energy input costs tomake them. They are targeting land available to farm, with rewilding obligations, or huge taxes that force farmers to sell up land. They are regulating 'emissions' and pushing for land to have solar panels on them. Europe/UK also is getting less and less self-sufficient. We are run by people who are very detrimental to us in the USA, and rest if the Western world
But the Chinese are not
they instituted land reform, and every citizen is involved in the means of production and the decisions about distribution

They advertise sugar free, what they don't tell you they use corn syrup and other stuff to sweeten things up.
Just watched your video discussing XAI27H and I am very excited about this
The USDA did NOT says fruit loops and cheerios are more nutritious than beef! Also, since the government lessen it's restrictions on policies for food safety (as that is what was done the last t rump presidency). Has caused NUMEROUS food recalls due to food toxicity!!!
Apparently the farmers heard that because they are literally feeding fruit loops to their cows

make food production and farming and entrepreneurship legal and it will happen. get gov out of the way!
It is about the world bank exerting control that is for sure
It had nothing to do with the sustainability of organics.Or not
Eat animal products mostly and avoid restaurants and packaged food.
Re healthy v tasty food ...... individuals need to learn about effects of NATURAL, versus CHEMICAL/FAKE food ..... on both their MENTAL and Physical bodies. We're not taught this in school systems, hence eating disorders, depression etc

Salatin is not considering the vast majority of Americans who can't afford the luxury of considering nutrient density.
After 40 years, you better consider nutrient density.Or you're just gonna get sicker and sicker
We have a problem exporting food. You never heard that story because you're not getting a good variety of sources you're biased heavily
