Vāchaspati Misra was born into a Maithil Brahmin family in Andhra Tharhi, Madhubani, Bihar. Little is known about Vāchaspati Miśra's life, and the earliest text that has been dated with certainty is from 840 CE, and he was at least one generation younger than Adi Śaṅkara. However, an alternate date for the same text may be 976 CE, according to some scholars; a confusion that is based on whether Hindu Śaka or Vikrama era calendar is used for the dating purposes.[3]
He was a student of Maṇḍana Miśra, who was his main inspirator. He harmonised Shankara's thought with that of Mandana Miśra. According to Advaita tradition, Shankara reincarnated as Vachaspati Miśra "to popularise the Advaita System through his Bhamati."
He wrote so broadly on various branches of Indian philosophy that later Indian scholars called him the "one for whom all systems are his own", or in Sanskrit, a sarva-tantra-sva-tantra.

भाजपा का वोटर और कार्यकर्ता जीत को लेकर निश्चिंत सा होता जा रहा है और ऐसे अतिविश्वास के चक्कर में लोग वोट ही देने नहीं जाते कि हम तो जीत रहे हैं और ऐसे ही हमारे प्रयाराज में जोशी जी बेहद कम मतदान की वजह से चुनाव हार गये थे क्योंकि वोटर निश्चिंत था कि जोशी जी ने बहुत काम किया है उनको कोई हरा नहीं सकता और लोग वोट देने निकले ही नहीं और परिणाम जब आया तो पछतावा के अलावा कुछ नहीं था। ऊपर से जो आपका मतदाता समूह है जिसे आप निरंतर जगाने की कोशिश कर रहे हैं वह आलसी, लापरवाह और क्या फर्क पड़ता है वाली मानसिकता का मनोरोगी रहा है और अब भी इस बीमारी से जूझ रहा है।
ऐसे में यह निश्चिंतता वाला लक्षण अच्छी बात नहीं है। हमारे यहाँ आम लोग मोदी पर इतना भरोसा करने लगे हैं कि उन्हें लगता है कि मोदी हैं तो चिंता की कोई बात नहीं है और अब उन्हें कुछ नहीं करना है और वोटिंग के दिन वोट देने के अलावा बाकी सारे काम जरूरी हो जाते हैं उन्हें वोट के लिए लाइन में लगने कि क्या जरूरत है वैसे भी मोदी तो जीत ही रहे हैं। उनके एक वोट न देने से क्या फर्क पड़ जाएगा...
वोटर और कार्यकर्ता को निश्चिंतता वाले भाव से बाहर निकालने की आवश्यकता है उन्हें यह बताते रहना है कि उन्हीं का यह एक एक वोट मोदी को मोदी बनाता है इसमें एक वोट की भी कमी नहीं होनी चाहिए।

Vachaspati Misra lived in the 9th century (Wikipedia), not in the 15th century. He was considered as a reincarnation of Shankracharya. He was a disciple of Mandana Mishra.

Shiv ling represents unmanifest conciousness of Shiva.
Linga as such in Sanskrit means Distinguishable Sign or mark.
When child is born only way to determine whether it is a male or female was by looking at the genitals hence this also was a distinguishable mark and linga as such got mis represented.
Linga is used in various context to distinguish things.For example subtle body is referred to as Linga Sharira.
Shiv ling as a symbol was employed to distingush the unmanifest conciousness.
Westren scholars or left illiberals have not even a scant idea about Indian culture or philosophy.

Re Shiva linga: another significance from Kriya Yog perspective, which is also captured in Gayetri mantra "..Dhiyoyonah prochodayat". The meaning of the word "chodan" as sexual intercourse perhaps a recent deformation, but originally it means the penetration of the supreme intelligence - let the supreme intelligence penetrates in the kuthastha for the awakening of chaitannya in this body removing all the ignorances. That is what we seek ultimately, the awakening of intelligence in the body so that one can see one's true self, the movements of one's own ego structure in totality and thus be free from this. Without that penetration, this energy of understanding does not happen in the body. And thus we pray to the divine, "...prochodayat".
