I hope you guys and gals liked my first collab video with TheViper, because here is more! After going through the basics of the game and making him face opponents on the ladder, let's go for a 2v2! He'll be playing Human, a race he's had time to get familiar with, and you already know what I'll be playing! Let's go!

I love that Viper was confused about TC when Grubby was using that abbreviation for his Tauren Chieftain. I bet he was trying to picture a Town Center unit in Warcraft 3. XD
MORE OF THISSSSS!! Would be nice to see how Viper does after a dozen hours of coaching and a few hundred games, and likewise for Grubby in AoE2. Great to see the progression.

Would love to see some more games of you two playing together. He seems like a really smart guy who picks up on things quickly and you get along very well. You're also great at explaining everything while playing and helping him. Without every judging him or anything, like a really good mentor. Love to see more!
Yeah, this is a great tool for new players. I imagine a series of these mentor games will help a lot of people into competitive play who would otherwise have a tough time with the many little things you either need to be told or learn the long and hard way.
Of course he looks smart, he is the best ever to play aoe2. a true legend
Viper is actually so great! He’s also the greatest Age of Empires player of all time, so there’s that lol. Definitely worth watching. I can’t think of many streamers who are as chill (and good) as Viper.

This tactical game seems like it would be too micro focused even for the AoE2 micro god that is VIPER.
He needs some games under his belt.
Nah, he'd be a decent player after a week easily. Not pro lvl of course since it's an old game but you can learn surprisingly fast even going from aoe/starcraft background. RTS is always tricky to get into
Well, surely too much micro for him to do it at a pro level, but do note that he was a grand master in Starcraft II who even beat former European champion Nerchio once.
If he plays lot for a month he will likely be a formidable opponent. WC3 micro is hard but I think Viper could get good at it

For anyone new:
Grid is the ONLY sensible and efficient layout system short of some super special ultra-custom layout designed specifically for your individual hand making use of the *entire* keyboard. If you're not going to invet an entire individual layout for yourself, just use grid. Grid is good.
R is the best button for Attack-move because it lets your pinky rest on 1, ring on 2, middle on 3, and floats your trigger finger below groups 4 and 5(where I put all my buildings) and is right next to the hold key.
With your trigger finger over R, your pinky is well positioned for ctrl and shift. For easy access to the the spell keys, just shift your hand down two rows.
With your pinky floating on the left side, your pointer finger and your thumb are then also conveniently placed by V for cancels.
With grid, all your spells are going to be on the same 4 keys, no matter the unit, and all your production buildings will use the same few keys to make units, making your macro much simpler. Imagine having to remember a seperate key to build each different unit and upgrade and cast each different apell rather than just using the same ones for different selections.
With grid, I can super quickly cast hex, stasis ward, lighting sheld, and dispell in succession all by simply hitting my caster group and "X tab > X > tab > X > tab > X," and if I want different spells, they will only be a key away.
Is ranged and casters the new meta lol. Not a single melee unit to be seen.
In team games there are a lot more units to get in the way of melee, despite this Grubby has tried late game melee units in 4v4 games even!
