    I purchased a brand new KS LEV interga seat post in 2014 for my San Andreas rebuild. Having put my mountain biking days behind me I only use my SA for going to work. I do not ride when it's raining or go off-road, jumps, stunts, drop-offs are just distant memories so over the last 12 months I manage to clock up less than 200 miles before my seat post started leaking oil. My confidence with the KS LEV post has completely diminished so before you think about purchasing one have a good look on the internet at other options, you don't want to be like me and wishing you had gone for the RockShox dropper instead.

    The kevlar cable broke in one of my three KS Lev posts, only after a few rides. KS refused to do anything for me because I'm not in the States, which is strange because this is a 3 dollar part and only weighs a few grams. Could have just sent one in a letter envelope in less time then answering my e-mail.
    Bought the cable from Arts Cyclery and it took probably around four months to get here. The cable broke at the start of season and was here long after it ended (live in Iceland).
    Also there were no ferrules (?) or pellets, only the cables.
    The actuator assembly can be quite difficult to take apart without damaging the post, strap wrenches are mostly made to take out oil filters and many of them aren't very suitable for this. The one he has in the video looks great.
    This video doesn't show much service. It's mostly just useful for changing the cable and cleaning/lubing everything. Don't cut the cable too short, you might have to take everything apart and move the ferrule just a little to get the post to function correctly.

    Is that it for the service? What about the oil part?

    There is no mention of what needs to be de-greased and how and were to re-grease... Any help?

    • @richardmann9628
      @richardmann9628 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      KS General Maintenance video shows more on greasing. Before anything, check if pushrod under actuator cannot depress. If stuck like many do, that's why the line broke. Went through all this for nothing. Does anyone know how to unstick that cartridge? Will try penetrating solvent. And this video forgot to tell us to re-install pushrod cap at 8:44.

      Soaked 2 drops Marvel Mystery oil on chamber for 20 minutes then installed pushrod and cap, pressed hard into floor unstuck cartridge. Drip-dried and q-tip cleaned that Mystery oil out, as is not made for those o-rings but warranty is expired. Will add 2 drops 5-weight oil to cartridge via pushrod, but is crazy that cartridge was so stuck.

    Great video! However, this is an extremely complex repair. Given that you will suck air bubbles into the hydraulics every time you lift the bike by the saddle when it is not fully extended, I am surprised there isn't a simpler process for bleeding the post and adding more hydraulic oil. There is almost no point in having a serviceable post if a routine task is this involved.

    Good video. The "isolator pellet" prevents me from snugging up the "link cable"?

    Good video on replacing the cable. How do I fix it from sagging 1/3 of an inch and get it to not pull all the way up if I lift the bike from the seat? Anyone know a reputable service center in northern ca?

    1. Wear safety glasses. 2. Make sure you remove the compressed air. 3. Wear gloves. 4. this video

    I have the LEV and when I lift my 56lb bike by the seat it slowly lifts up on its own. Is that normal for this model?

    Hello @ks
    Do you know how I can adjusting return pressure on a KS LEV 27,2mm without inflation valve ?

  • @DrtSqrt
    @DrtSqrt ปีที่แล้ว

    Is there a way to reuse the barrel nuts? It seems like the little isolator balls make it impossible to get them off of the cord and impossible to get a new cord in if you do manage to get it out.

    I assume if you've got some play the LEV have to be sent in?
    Great design; it's still the only 6" hydraulic dropper I know of. I wish the 27.2 came with 6" of drop too :)

    First off, Can I buy an extra internal routine kit for a second bike and use the the same seat post for 2 bikes swapping between them each time I'm going for a ride?
    Secondly, Which one should I choose, Giant contact SL seat post or KS lev integra?

    I have KS i7 27.2 seat post and it moves really smooth, but it seams like it lost the air pressure, it just do not move upwards full travel but stops mid way, pulling it with hand helps and it keeps the top position. How do I fill the air spring again?

  • @jodybiggs858
    @jodybiggs858 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Two questions.
    1. Do you have any extra tips on remove the actuator assembly? I have tried a couple of different strap wrenchs but none get enough grip to enable me to remove the actuator assembly.
    2. Where could a find a similar strap wrench as you use in this video?

    • @mansour86

      i actually managed to do it by twisting the strap wrench almost to the point where it looked like it was going to rip.

    is the 15 mm from bottom of post still the right neasurement for putting the barrel on the kevlar string still right for more current posts? I think mine is a 2015 -16

    How the HELL do you remove the isolator pellets?

    • @danskellie2002
      @danskellie2002 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Daniel Skellie Apparently you aren't supposed to remove them. You're supposed to buy a new cord, and a new set of ferrules, which come with new pellets. This is bullsh!t. I found out you can melt the pellet out with a lighter, and use a trimmed down beanbag pellet. Again, go to the website above, it's much more helpful.
