what is difference b/w armature winding and field winding

In alternator armature winding (stator) is stationary& field winding(rotor) is rotating..

The windings responsible for magnetic field generation (dc) is called field winding and the windings in which emf is induced (3phase ac) is called armature irrespective whether it is stator or rotor winding
