If against any group that has ballista, i go 2 ballista and 6 rogue on auto. If against any group that has zero ballista, i go with 2 legionnaires and 6 rogue on auto. Works great. Obviously if you don't have a Traz you need to be careful with your rogues though. My new city on B just has the ballista camps and rogue hideout :)

For anyone watching this, I strongly recommend going into your settings to enable display of which units are unattached (independent) vs attached (from a barracks). Always use your attached units first by preference, as you can replace any losses by training more units in your barracks. Settings = blue 2 cogs symbol at bottom left of your screen, under the GE icon; then on the Settings tab, check the box for "Highlighting of Unattached units". NB: this is something that you have to set on each world that you play on, if you have more than one city.

Spearman takes only 20 seconds to train, and when utilised correctly, you can easily rely on them for the entirety of Iron Age, I haven't upgraded them till I reached EMA, and spearmen allowed me to keep my losses light and to reduce the training time as I had often used them to save other units, or at least to keep losses as light as possible.
I was thinking that I marched through iron age with my bronze age units till almost the end of my being in the iron age but couldn't remember. Found this cause I was trying to help another player in the Iron age but still using Bronze age units. And the spearman was one of the last bronze age bases I got rid of after being in the iron age

My neighbors terrorize me with attacks (in my secondary town) and keep stealing the materials I need despite the fact that I have a pretty good defense army ..... people actually hate me 😂😟

Hey Liliana nice video, but i just have an opinion specially on the first attack ... as lower Age units are too weak you could've done it easily with just 8 Ballistas it will even destroy the two Fast units, also not giving any chances for the Ranged unit to attack as they killed on of your soldiers ... so u would finish the battle faster & without using any units
@@LilianatheMagnificent Hmmm so the tactics aren't the same in the later Ages or Artillery aren't powerful! btw i advanced to EMA on the first day of the event i told u i'm thinking of on the video u talked about the best day to advance, so as i tried it it's was bad for me & still was committed to GbGs finishing on the 9th place, sure the event has put some extra load but i didn't suffer as the FPs stock helped also beside the goods i saved although they were around 200 goods only each

Also, unrelated to the comment that I just made... how is that you can have SO MANY troops in your hold... I have only been able to have a total of 4 for each building (you don't have to have a new building for every 4 units, do you?)
I only have 1 building of each unit type in my city. You gain unattached troops by completing encounters in Guild Expedition, Guild Battlegrounds, and Daily Chest Challenges.

I'm really bad at these battles, and I'm perpetually being attacked by a player who has millions of points (I don't understand the benefit of the challenge--because there is none-- it's just a bloodbath), and they keep doing it. I'm a bit confused about the number of troops you have at your disposal. You only have one military building for each type of fighter, but there are about 3 times as many fighters in the army management. Does one of your GBs give you all those extra fighters?

I'm really grateful for the guidance, but for somebody who is trying to learn the 'how and why' of strategies to use to be successful during battling... Miss Liliana has a tendency to just play, without actually explaning why she is doing what she is doing. It's nice to see someone win battles, but I would rather understand the thought process associated with her decisions.

I normally don't do battles with melee units. The retaliation damage could potentially be the cause of some of your unit deaths and that is no good. Range units tend to do more damage even against units that they're normally weak to. In fact, when you get into HMA the crossbow trebuchet combo works really well that having melee units is a bit of a waste. Of course, you will need multiple range and artillery barracks to account for any casualties but most fights seem to favor range over anything else. Now when you find yourself against a stack of cavalry (armor) units that will be the only exception I will make but I never had too much trouble with an all range stack even without rogues. Also, bronze is still better than EMA. EMA has the worst units in the game.
This is exceptionally helpful information! Thank you! I am finding that heavy units and ranged units tend to be the best in Modern and Postmodern. Not looking forward to EMA in my secondary world! Oh no!
Liliana the Magnificent actually heavy units get a lot better in CE. The assault tank gets reactive armor so it takes 3 hits regardless of attack bonus to kill one (4 if it’s a rogue with an assault tank still alive) and caused me to get very careless most of the time. In TE that changes because the relations even back out somewhat but assault tanks is the literal definition of military cheese in the game. Also I wouldn’t discount the howitzer at all. Sure it takes damage but it is the only unit capable of safely killing the Jaegers you will encounter. My line up for IE (Industrial Age) is Jaegers, howitzers, breech loaders, rifleman. I stop using melee units altogether by the time I hit CA.
Liliana the Magnificent I almost forgot 11hrs later but I will personally recommend players to stay put in HMA/LMA for awhile. The reason being is that those two ages do not have you suffer from stronger stats (pretty much attrition from GBG) until maybe GE4 (I hadn’t gotten that far yet with my younger city though so I can’t confirm GE4) so if you’re looking to farm the GEs, stay in HMA/LMA for some time. It’s the best time to be farming it out. I don’t even have my Zeus leveled up in my young city to 10 and I’m finding it pretty easy in comparison to my older TE and in need of fixing city all because I’m staying in the HMA/LMA range. It’s actually the best time to grow your city and get all the forge point producing facilities up and running such as terrace farms, shrines, cultural settlements etc etc. Sure not advancing might get a little dull but it’s well worth the grind.
Great video, but wasn't that attack boost to fight bronze age units an overkill? Kind of like taking a bazooka to hunt squirells imo. Also, I noticed you attacked a spear fighter with your pony (lol). That's no bueno, because spearfighter has an attack bonus against them. Save your ponies!! Lol. Just my $.02.
How long ago did you start this city? The amount of coins, supplies and goods you have are so much higher than in my iron age city, though I've started playing three weeks ago. You make great content, keep up the good work 👍
