I think you were concentrating so hard on grouping all those units during first wave that you forgot to use the Ballista to strike the enemy units. You could have taken out one of those archers with those two shots, might have saved you a unit.
Very timely - my daily quest had a complex negotiation today. Thanks! Could you do a video on GE? Not so much the attacking or negotiating, but on the prizes. What items should we be keeping for future use? What items should we use as soon as we get them? What items should we barter in the Antiques Dealer? As a new-ish player, I'm still confused on how to use these things in a strategic way and the whys behind what makes an item good or useless.
Lilianna may disagree but since it doesn’t hurt you to save prizes, I hold on to almost everything until I absolutely know I’ll never use it. For instance, I’m in a phase after 3 years where I am no longer depending on soks for FPS so I’m selling them slowly. But if you are in early eras, you will love soks.
@@phillycatlady lol 🤣 you should know I'm an absolute hoarder bahaha 😆 I keep too much but I completely agree the use of various buildings changes as you progress through the game!
Lil, could you be more specific about what kind of troop you are referring to or pointing to, instead of saying this, these, those? I can’t tell what the troop is on my tablet because 1) It’s been a long, long time since I used Iron Age troops, if I ever did, and I don’t recognize the icons yet. I know ballistas because of their unique shape but that’s about all 2) Im on an iPad so the screen is much smaller than yours, making it even harder to discern the troops. Could you also slow down a little and explain very specifically why you move x troop to y position? I’m in beta now and in Iron Age and all I’ve mastered is that legionnaires ( heavies ) combined with ballista ( artillery) ( I don’t have 8 of either) will take out 2 spearfighters with little to no damage. How I ever got beyond this in my main city which started 3 years ago, I have no idea because I don’t know what I’m doing here. 😂.
I sure can, I am terrible at explaining military strategy when I am having a major squirrel moment video, I am sorry. Sometimes, I can be quite a hot mess, if I say so myself lol. I still don't think I mastered Iron Age. A friend from my guild in H, reported that archers and ballistas with a mix of rogues is the best pairing for Iron Age. Beats me, lol. I like heavies because they can take longer to die in general.
@@LilianatheMagnificent omg, I’m having tons of trouble fighting in Iron Age. It’s like I’ve forgotten everything I ever learned. Or maybe I negotiated all my battles back then. I have zero memory of going from stone to LMA. I only have three rogues right now. Should I use them with Legionnaires against ...everything? The latter seem to heal very fast, but can they take out ballistas before they get slaughtered?
@@phillycatlady lol 🤣 that's how I felt the entire time I was in iron, bahaha, I went with 4 legionnaires, 2 ballistas, and 2 rogues for practically everything. Not perfect but overall I really struggled in that era... EMA is not much better for me lol 😂 I like to autobattle.
@@LilianatheMagnificent when I autobattle, I lose rogues. Someone told he uses grenadier and rogues for all gbg fights because he doesn’t want to change troop. I tried a few and loses were too much for me.
Great vid :D I ironically got a very complex negotiation as my daily challenge today :D :P I (am in HMA) like to use artillery, champions and rogues vs anything, and with my attack boost that can beat any large army on auto battle. Very large? Can't even beat it with the +30 tavern boost on manual LOL :P
@@LilianatheMagnificent I would If I had room to put a heavy unit barracks in my city for traz, but I dont have room unless I get rid of my artillery, which I want to keep, and I dont have any store buildings for my champions retreat, but I'll give it a go if I get an opportunity 👍
I don't mean to criticize, just commenting: (feedback) Without a Traz that would have been a dead loss! Two ballistae and a rogue, those are valuable. And how is +70% att/def 'not huge'? its iron age! You are obviously camping there so that is not useful for a typical IA player. The negotiation is perfect though, solid process and very good advice.
You are absolutely allowed to share your thoughts. Doesn't bother me because it encourages discussion. Yes, I did camp in Iron Age for 6 months because creating a strong foundation in the game is huge (I'm in EMA now). Too many players blow through eras and don't have the needed resources or growth to make an impact as they age up and sooner or later they get stuck (I know higher era players that struggle with these battles because they move too quickly). As per battling, I did the same thing when I didn't have a Traz (my Traz is only a level 5). I have been able to complete every special event quest since I started my new world. It comes down to manual battling and pairing army units. To be honest, I rarely battled in Iron Age. I negotiated everything, so my stock of units came from GE and GBG before my Traz. Hope this helps. 👍 P. S. When I first started my city months ago, when I got a Daily Challenge with a very large army, I lost every single time because I had 12% attack and had no rogues, so yes those are necessary. I say if it's a battle you absolutely crucially have to win then you would need to use diamonds to heal all your units before the 2nd wave, I have never done this though because I am patient. 🤩
Tip Lil: Always attack with Ballista even on first round. They don't need to move to hit enemy, so when the icon appears over enemy on your Ballista's turn, attack, it won't move, or just one space and you'll weaken the enemy before it can come any closer.
I think your advice on the negotiation part was good but your attack portion was really (sorry) bad .. you shouldn't have lost any troops .. I'm camping in HMA and the only time I have a "hard" time is when fighting industrial age troops on the continental map (which is 3 ages up) otherwise I don't lose troops and my main attack is using only 2 heavies and 6 rogues or 1 champion and 7 rogues .. peoples priorities should be raising their Zeus, CDM, CoA and Traz to at least level 10
No worries, everything is about creating, setting, and reaching goals in FoE. I'm only human lol so I know not everything I do or have is where I want it to be but that's the fun part about the game. Definitely always striving to be better.
Still can not follow your logic with negotiations that you just flew through and do not explain how you make some of your choices in each slot one by one. Your explanation is useful to those who already know how to do it.

What do you do if your first guess gets all but one right? You're finished! You only have 3 turns left and 9 possibilties.
Ugh 😫 those are my least favorite! I hope that I get lucky 🤞 if I don't then I abort it on my last try and then try again!

How do you get rogues? I have had one from winning one in a GE, but it's the only one I've seen.
You can get attached rogues with a rogue hideout and unattached rogues in GE, GBG, from spoils of war with a Himeji Castle, and from special events.
