  • Ecodriver shows you how to easily get far better than the official consumption out of this brand-new, excellent car from Kia and therefore save money on fuel. And no, you won't be too slow and blocking other road-users, but you will be very efficient...

      Not so sure, as I've already done the Tucson PHEV with empty battery and I only managed 5.0. But hopefully I'll get it soon to find out.

    Nice one as always Helmut. thank you. keep them comming those reviews. It was kind of strange for me to see digital dial for revs. I am just used to analogue one. At 100 km/h speed the revs seemed to be higher at about 2100. Just an idea, could it be possible to add also 120-130 km/h section on higway ? Would be interesting to see how the total average consumption would be affected

    • @ecodriver1746

      Hi Peter, thanks. As for the higher speeds it would be quite a distance to go to the part of the motorway where I could go faster, and with most cars I only have them for about 3-4 hrs so I simply can't squeeze this in. But I'm sure there are many videos out there where someone does a 130 kph-Test.

    If I well understood with this engine (1.6 t-gdi 150hp manual gearbox) you shifted at 1500rpm on the flat and just below 2000rpm on climbing ways ?

      Bonjour Raphaël, bienvenue chez Ecodriver!
      That's correct, the torque is quite high at already very low revs and there's no rattling or anything from 1100 rpm onwards. If you need a lot of power (e.g. full car on steep climb or accelerating into moving traffic on motorway) of course you need to rev higher but this happens once a month (at least to me...) ;)

      Maybe avoid revs below 1400 (on heavy load, cruising is no problem) and above 3500 on the first thousand km or so, give the engine a bit of time to settle

    Hi Helmuth, a great drive on a very nice day. I drove in and around Innsbruck with my son probably 12 years ago - wonderful views and picturesque villages as I recall.
    I have been a fan of the latest Hyundai Tucson since it came to the U.K. market but I have to say I much prefer the interior of the Kia Sportage you are driving in this video.
    In you opinion, will there be a significant saving in economy with the hybrid and the plug in hybrid?
    My daily commute would be less than 50 miles daily on rural rounds mostly and a bit of town driving in the mix.
    The only fly in the ointment for me Helmuth is I need an automatic gearbox due to leg and shoulder mobility issues.
    Any idea as to when you’ll have the hybrid and the plug in to test please?
    I’d love to go full EV but the infrastructure in the northwest of England is appalling and the range wouldn’t get me from the west coast to the east coast there and back on one charge comfortably - not unless I go for a tesla and that’s out of the question.
    Thanks for another excellent real world review. Stay safe and well.
    Greetings from Cumbria in the U.K.

      Hi, thanks a lot! I was driving the Tucson PHEV already and I have to say I prefer the Sportage. Personally I prefer automatic gearbox as well. I hope to get the Hybrid as soon as it's introduced here. I'm keen on knowing how much the hybrid gets as I've got "only" 5 l/100 kms with the Tucson PHEV with empty battery, normally with the same car hybrid consumption is a bit higher (due to the 6 km descent which allows c. 6 km of ev-driving, whereas with the full-hybrid I only get around 1-1,5 km.

    KIA 1.6 GDI will cut out injection only when its over 1800rpm, then you cen decelerate without injection to about 1100 rpm. If you start under 1800rpm it will inject ultralean mix and will not decelerate so easy. So when decelerating its good to start above 1800 rpm. I dont know about Turbo.

    Hello, I just found your channel. This is the exact configuration that i am waiting to arrive this month. Can the particle filter do its regeneration if driving at this low rpms? I am curious.

    • @ecodriver1746
      @ecodriver1746  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hi Edmond. The regeneration of the particle filter is not affected by the rpms, it needs a certain temperature which - with modern engines - can be reached by whatever rpms you use. So it doesn't affect either the filter or other parts of the motor or drivetrain, as long as you don't feel some rattling from the engine. This differs from vehicle to vehicle, but usually between 1000 and 1300 rpms.

      @ecodriver1746  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      What would be interesting with that apart from having double the distance? the only difference it would make is with Plug-In Hybrids, as the descent would be at the end and the additional distance gained couldn't be used.

    Hi, just found your channel.
    I had enough of diesel and the problems that cars have (adblue, egr, scr etc)
    I do around 3000-4000km/month with a mix around 40% highway, 30 extraurban and 30city
    Averaging between 4.0 and 5.5 with my 1.6 bluehdi 120ps without trying.
    I would love a bit bigger car with automatic transmission if possible but with higher reliability. Since honda does not do petrol anymore I went looking
    Toyota but the corolla station is to low...
    Would the Rav4 use much more petrol then a Corolla?
    Is there any "normal" simple and reliable petrol engine car out there?
    Thanks

      It depends how long is your run from the start to the engine off. Because the physics is so like it eats untill it is warmed. I get 7.4 in average when 70/30% city/highway driving. Runs i a town are not long.

      În Bucharest? Probably in Sundays at 6 am. Usually I have 10...12 with 1.6 TGDI. Because you need to move with traffic. You can not drive economically, you will hear a lot of horn s ( in the best case :) )
      If you want a good consumption în the city, buy a hev (or phev if you have easy access to a charge station or home socket).
