Make sure you put a nut on those bolts for the ajuster for the chain 👍🏻

Hi Flynn, well spotted. That nut been missing ever since I've owned the bike, it's a normal 10 mm nut but the thread is a 7mm I think, and I've never been able to pick one up. Always made me wonder why anyone would have wanted to take it off. will have to try harder to get one now👍

Couldn't you have "shrunk" the top hat by putting it in the freezer overnight? It might have been able to fit after that.

Hi, Maybe I should have tried that, or even warmed up the sprocket. it's something to bare in mind for the next job I might have to do.

No no no.....the centre spacer should be pressed in wiyh a hydrsulic press, it should be a very tight fit in the sprocket or it will work loose. The plain washer is there as a spacer and to isolate the sprocket from the retaining circlip and to give an edge for the protective dust cover. The hub must be greased before the sprocket is fitted..

where you get the "top hat "

Hi, I found the top hat and sprocket on ebay, one of them wasn't quite right because I had to open the hole up on the sprocket. it could have been made a few thou bigger to take out the wear if you were only replacing one or the other.

Chain is too tight - more like an inch of total movement up and down - 1/2 inch either way. Great work though - cheers
