Great video. Glad to see that I'm not the only one who drops the fuel filter after carefully letting it drip into the catch pan! 😆

Getting ready to do some initial maintenance on my 35G, so reviewed this, thx. Couple of suggestions... I don't think you retightened the water separator enough. I realize it was really tight to remove, but you only put it back about hand tight. That's a large o-ring, and it's got negative pressure from the pump. So it could suck air and you wouldn't see it. Over time could be bad for the injection system. (Also you didn't put the track motor fill plug back tight enough from what i saw, fwiw). Another thing is the Swing gear needs only a little grease, but you need to rotate the house into different spots to get it all the way around. Don't over grease it as you can blow out the turntable seal. The arm and stick only call for grease every 500hrs believe it or not. The bucket and thumb can get the frequent greasing (especially if they get wet) Thanks a bunch 👍 ☮️ -

Thanks for watching and your comment. I will definitely double check the separator and final drive plugs. Appreciate the tips and your time in writing them! Have a great day and be safe!

Did you bleed the air out of the system after you changed the hydraulic filter? I just serviced my 35 for its first initial service and in the owners manual it says to bleed the air out of the system after changing the hydraulic filter.

Thanks for watching and your comment! I did not but if the manual says to then you should. Have a great day and be safe!

Thanks for watching and your comment. No I am sorry, I didn’t even realize it did flip up. Have a great day and be safe!

@CopperBarnHomestead there's a way it can flip. Only 1 video I see doing it. It would be nice if you can show us how since you own the 35g!

I had to replace a cracked fitting on my hydraulic system on my JD 26G mini excavator. I need to top off the hydraulic system. Is there anything special I need to do to get air out of the system? Can I operate it with radiator style cap off or does it need to be on? How do I check the level? Thank you!

Thank you for watching and your questions. I’m sorry I do not know the answer to those questions. I follow the mini excavator forums on fb and just google stuff if you don’t have a dealer or trusted mechanic for a question. I purchased that unit used from C&C and they have been very helpful with the only questions I have had. Best of luck, have a great day and be safe!

@@CopperBarnHomestead it was pretty straight forward. I just filled it till the sight glass was full, put the cap on, operate system for a few minutes and check to see if the level dropped any, it did not. Thanks, love the channel 👍

Never use grease on o ring just oil , grease can clog oil pump or very fine oil passages, filter can vibrate loose with grease .

Thanks for watching and your comment. Good point, I always wondered about that, I will switch back to oil in the future! Appreciate you, be safe! ❤️

Hey what kind of thumb you have installed on there?

    • @CopperBarnHomestead

Thanks for watching and your question. It has a John Deere hydraulic thumb installed. We got it from C&C Equipment when we bought the machine. Thanks again, have a great day and be safe ❤️

Thanks for watching and your comment. We’ve been thinking of doing a video showing all of them. There are a bunch, most are easy to get to and obvious but even I am curious about how many there actually are…. Have a great day and be safe ❤️
