Kathleen Madigan is such a treasure! One, she still loves going on the road and doing shows and connecting with pets all over the country, who love her. She takes the time in her busy schedule to spend time with her widowed Mother, and adapt to her schedule. Kathleen loves her fans, she loves her Family, she loves looking Forward to the next Laugh, the next Bar party, the next Friend to Call.
I'm there for tips on how to get to the middle and enjoy your life. Spent an afternoon with a cousin's husband who was all about talking about how many deals he'd made for x amount of dollars and how good he is at hustling. He took calls every 5 minutes. He thinks he's impressing us. I'm thinking, "I'm sitting here enjoying doing nothing, and nobody's bothering me with calls. I can tell you who I think is more successful."
Paddles "Noooo!!" when you mention Mrs. Holmes cracks me up every time!! Gosh we have been following her forever. Love the podcast as always you two - keep up the Lord's work :)
I discovered Milwaukee 3 yrs ago when I went to their Irish Fest and even wore my Madigan podcast T-shirt. Love The Wicked Hop restaurant downtown, great food and Spotted Cow beer
Kathleen, I was overjoyed at your “why be #1” / it’s ok to be #8” in your latest pubcast. I’m 63 and fading into obscurity and ya know, its not so bad…thanks for all the laughs!
Speaking of Renee Richards…when I was about 8 they had a big tennis tournament in Minneapolis with Chris Evert, Steffi Graff…all the late 70s women so I tagged along & collected autographs. Apparently I was confused as to why Renee grunted so loudly. My older brother cringed when I went to get her autograph 😂 I came back and announced she had a big throat. Apparently I was the only one who didn’t know about her sexuality because everyone sitting near us was wiping away tears of laughter
I grew up on braunsweiger with mayo on white bread! Your mid-west upbringing sounds much like my rural MD upbringing. From the catholicism to the food to the values! I totally relate. You are the best! ❤️
Hey Kathleen, FYI, hockey teams do not fly commercial (haven't for years). If they had to fly like the Blues did during the Hull era, they'd all faint! Teams all charter private jets (Detroit used to have their own), don't sit the airports and don't have the same stringent dress code as they used to. If you've seen one in the airport lately, I'd love to know which one! Thanks for giving me a break in my work week!🥰
I don't think they fly commercially - they either charter private jets or charter commercial planes. I would LOVE to see the new NHL "children" flying like Brett & Bobby did. Now that would be a reality show :-). Thanks for following the Pubcast !
And this Kathleen totally agrees with Kathleen’s opinion of weed. Even back in the early 70’s weed just put me to sleep. Not my idea of ‘partying’. I don’t drink alcohol, either but only because my body’s reaction to alcohol is a raging hangover. On top of that, I live in Denver & I’m glad to see the pot market dialed back to semi-normal, at least. I currently have at least 4 dispensaries within a mile of my house. For reference, I only have 2 Starbucks within a mile. Jus’ sayin’!!
Lived the outcast Kathleen and Paddles. I think Kathleen was trying to say Leinenkugels-brewed in CHippewa Falls, Wisconsin. Wisconsinites just say Leines (Lie knees). But your Wisconsin Termites would love you to pronounce it correctly. Lie nen koo gels ( not Jels, but hard g + els). Hope Eau Claire gets back on your tour loop. I would LOVE to see you in person💗👍
My goodness you had it easy for confirmation studies! We Lutherans had to go one night a week for two years to qualify to be confirmed! And as a parent you get to drive the kiddos back and forth. But we did learn all the basics such as Apostles Creed etc. could be if you went to a Catholic school you already knew the prayers and creeds etc. It was worth the effort.
1:28:03 “How to successfully get to the middle and enjoy your life” 😂 actually I think myself and a lot of people I know would benefit. ❤ night night mama termite!
Girl I'm in South Florida people spend more$$$ than they do on weddings- on bar mitzvahs and Quinceaneras, and I'm not joking.. every time my daughters were invited to something I cringed because I knew it was going to be a fortune and a new outfit😅
🤣The Rory comments and screaming goat - on point. My boyfriend has taken to yell at himself "you suck, Rory" when he misses a putt... at least it isn't for millions.... lmao!
Your the best ever thanks for being you I always laugh my ass off at everything you talk about I am the one who made you the nite nite termite quilt for you many moons ago and I saw you in Vegas that year thank you for your gift of making us laugh for so many years Margie of San Diego
Hi Kathleen in my experience I was so super excited to receive a blessing from John Paul II and attend a papal mass with Pope Benedict XVI both experiences were different but so beautiful. I felt a sense of peace I never thought I would. BTW Both of these experiences happened in New York. If you have a chance to meet his Holy Father please do it is a amazing experience.
My mom too! Midsummer Mysteries, anything Sherlock Holmes and the Hallmark Murder channel, oh wait is it the Mystery channel? I can't keep them straight I just know at her house she's in control of the remote..... 🤣🤣
i was listening to some music recently, and in a song, i heard your voice, “Houston, we hav a problem”…a sound byte…i played it back and cracked up! wondering if you heard the song yet…it’s by cookie kawaii.
My favorite way to eat Braunschweiger (which my Nana called “liver cheese”) is on Wonderbread with yellow mustard & Lay’s chips. Don’t knock it til ya try it!!
I fell in love with Venice ( thought it was the most romantic place i’d ever been), was fascinated by Pompeii, and loved Florence too. But, this was in 1977. God knows what they’re like now… probably crawling with too many tourists, i imagine.
Say it with me: Line-in-kugals. (The Wisconsin beer that she couldn’t pronounce.) Or just call it Leine’s. Snoop also threw out the first pitch at a Brewers game this week. Another reason to like Milwaukee.
If it would have been anyone other than Kathleen I wouldn't have waited for the White Buffalo story, and I still barely made it. But something very unusual about her voice is somehow reassuring...or could just be a very cute Irish accent??😉
Have you seen the 3 part series on PBS Pompeii The New Dig? Really interesting documentary including the timeline of the eruption and possible different reactions to it at the time resulting in either life or death. It’s really good. ❤
32:25 But, WTH did the Rocks do -give me a break we got to stop the Gatorade bottles and the soda bottles too. Or just recycle like we do. They can put it in a freaking pouch -like a like a or a box like a sippy thing😅.
Haha I just had a mental image of survivors of the Pompeii eruption discussing it later saying “we’re doing well in our new community. It was scary blah blah blah.”
Love Kathleen Madigan, and always enjoy Madigan’s Pubcast. This episode’s awkward handling of the Renee Richards ESPN special and Transgender issues, including dead naming and misused pronouns, was disappointing. Social indifference doesn’t move us forward, but I applaud the attempt to discuss a complicated topic.
I'm truly sorry to have disappointed you with my handling of this topic. If you've seen my act recently, you know that I completely respect an individual's decision to transition as well as the process to do so. Trying to support in a mainstream environment, which apparently fell flat.
Isn't it funny that if your grandfather told you a story about something that happened when he was a kid you probably take it with a grain of salt. But The Gospel of Thomas, an apocryphal (noncanonical) gospel, is thought to have been written sometime between the end of the first century and the mid-second century, around 90-140 AD. However, some scholars believe that the text may have been compiled around 140 AD, but could include traditions that are even older, possibly dating back to the second half of the first century (50-100 AD). This would make it as old as, or older than, the gospels of Mark, Matthew, Luke, and John. And it's believed
It wasn't paint it was an orange dust that would come off with water. They have succeeded in getting your/our attention. Same as with the art gallery antics. You are spreading the word even if you think their methods are dumb. 3,841 people (and counting) who have come to watch your podcast are now aware that there are people out there still taking on BIG oil companies. I think Charles hired them to deface it since NO ONE liked it, then he can have a 'do-over' and hopefully it's better. hahaha
After 181 episodes, I can say that she will never do it and I'm absolutely cool with that. Love what we have going here. Thanks for joining us every week.

Was that written by AI? Doesn't matter...all true!!
Beautifully put!
Agreed. There is no one like her. We are lucky to have her podcast.

I said it in sync with her out of a Pavlovian response
Madigan's Pubcast Pompeii group tour. I'd buy a ticket, especially if Kathleen says, "holy s$&! they found it," during the tour.
I discovered Milwaukee 3 yrs ago when I went to their Irish Fest and even wore my Madigan podcast T-shirt.
Love The Wicked Hop restaurant downtown, great food and Spotted Cow beer
It's in my top 3 fave cities in the US
Braunschweiger on Butternut white bread with mayo and Leinenkugel Grapefruit Shandy is a perfect Midwest/Great Lakes boat picnic!

Pompei is something to see when visiting Italy. Book a private tour. Totally worth it!
"Ehen I Book a private tour.." there's a sentence I'll never say😅 😂
"Has anyone else called lost and found looking for a wing?" Genius. I laugh every time!
You're on fire in this video. Thanks for keeping me laughing with your quick wit, Kathleen. 😊

Midsomer Murders-my fav!!
It's pretty cool that the story about Max the cat made it to the Pubcast. Looking forward to seeing you here in October!
What a cool story! I wanna meet Max someday :-). See you in October!

Awesome pubcast!! Thank you so much for saying my name! It was my 15 seconds of fame!! Please keep making the pubcast!

Kathleen, thanks for being you, and also for sharing some splendors of Milwaukee! I'd choose Milwaukee over Mar-a-Lago anytime. :-)
Braunschweiger and lettuce on white bread with mayonnaise is simply awesome. And a little pepper. And onions.
Kathleen's dad sounded like he was SO cool (re: the story about Rene Richards).
Do you know where the documentary is streaming? Would love to see it after my encounter at 8
I've been cracking up on this episode! You are ALWAYS funny but you were in rare form on this one!😂😂🤣🤣🤣
Just saw your show in Charles Town. Had me laughing literally the entire show. Met your tour manager too and she was great.
Thanks for coming! SUCH a fun show and a great audience!
The park on the river front south of downtown Milwaukee is great and the view of the lake is very beautiful.
Bob didn't have to be that brave in the 60's, in the 60's people "did their thing" without instant platform judgments.
Bacon, mayo on white bread is DELICIOUS!😋🥓🥪
Gotta have sliced home grown tomatoes and lettuce on it too.

Geez, I hate auto correct. That was one of the hardest comments I’ve ever written😜. LOVED the pubcast as always.

So sorry to hear
Mid-April, and thanks for your condolences.
Kathleen you talk about the musicians who have sold their catalogs for mere change while Queen just sold theirs for $1.2 BILLION!!!
Why wasn't Kathleen in Italy with the Pope and all the comedians?
