Even if your buck fawn disperses the following year, he should make a return visit to your property/scrape location (if he survives) sometime later in life. Enjoyed your video presentation once more. Thanks for posting.
❤ Perfect timing. I’ve been working on my mock scrapes this weekend here in Virginia. Already had a bachelor group of 4 bucks checking out a new grape vine scrape the day after I made it. I really enjoy your videos. Keep ‘em coming!
Lol didn't realize your in EGR I love fishing reeds I'm in rock not to far away love your influence 😉 very helpful thanks again for the information 😀 😊 👍
I swear by mock scrapes. I'm in Michigan also. Lake Ann area. I use jackpine for licking branches. Just because I haven't been able to find a decent grapevine. What do you think about the horizontal scrape method? A little harder to duplicate, being we can't use screws or anything like that. Just curious. Good luck!
@@ArnoldandSonsExteriors lol, that's funny. Okay, from my experience and what I know. There are three scrape methods. Traditional adding a licking Branch method. Then there is the method of using a rope, to throw over a high branch, and tie a vine, or branch, softer wood preferred and/or some just use a piece of rope. Be mindful that it's two to three inches thick. The part that hangs down for the deer. And then there is the third method, horizontal if you wish to call it that. You use a log, 3 to 5 in wide by 3 to 5 ft long. Hang it 3 to 4 ft off the ground by using Posts at each end, like a y post set up. The Middle Post being softer wood, like Aspen, poplar or something. The end post should be hardwood or anything you want. Dear have used this method as a scrape and rub. All have been around for a while and they all work well. Hope this helps you!😉
I've used hemp rope, branches from oaks / beech trees and natural grape vines. From what I've seen branches and vines work the best but they will also use the ropes
I absolutely loved this video..seeing you w your lil one out there helping i do the same w my son..hes 5 years old n he can probably do it all himself lol...Ive been doing this for the last few years no matter were I create a scrape n lickin branch I allways pee in it...its almost a guaranteed thing within a day there will be activity lol...love the channel great info..keep it up..😊
Yeah you’re right, a lot of times the buck fawns are getting kicked out. Unless mom gets shot then he’s much more likely to stick around. But the thought process is still the same, when a new deer comes into the area whether that’s a fawn or a yearling buck whose dispersed, they are conditioned to communicate at the perennial scrape since that’s the only spot they’ve ever known in that area. Each year the scrapes get stronger.

That’s another great point and good reason to try to get the fawns involved in the scraping! Thanks again for the comment.
Enjoy the holiday weekend!

Thank you you are really nice and wise today a few hours before I seen your video I did the same things you explained
Was helpful. New to mock scraps. Put a rope out today I thought I should of dug the ground up but I didn't. Will next time.
The deer might do it for you, but I always do it just as another visual for the scrape
It's definitely time to shift from turkey to deer. Will be hanging my mock scrapes and cameras very soon. Probably this weekend.

I think you might be confusing scraps and rubs. Is there such a thing as a "horizontal scrap"? If so please explain.

What was the type of rope you said to use ?
Also are those big thick natural grapevines good for fake licking branch as well ?

Thanks for all your info, very helpful
I travel for work and haven't been home almost at all this year. is making mock scrapes after the seasons start too late?

Are mock scrapes considered baiting? I hunt public land and was curious about this.
baiting” usually means you can’t use anything that the deer can ingest.
Thank you.

Hi, can you help test our product
When your button buck matures he'll be living 2 to 5 miles away
