- Today we look at one of my favorite characters of all time on this show. My earliest memories of watching this show with my mom was late 80's and I remember very vividly the Jean Weatherall murder. Harley has been a huge part of the show the last three decades and because of that I have split this up into two parts. The second part will be up by the 15th. This focus is on her time leading up to her first departure. It was really cool to see her grow up on the show and see her go from a child on 5th street to the President of Spaulding at one point. One of my favorite characters ever on tv. Beth Ehlers should’ve won at least one Emmy for her portrayal of Harley. Especially in the Daisy adoption storyline in the early years. She was a terrific actress. One of the best characters ever on the show.
There's a character alot like Harley on the UK Soap Opera Emmerdale. Her name is Victoria Sugden who was very close to her Older Brother Robert. Sadly enough although the Sugdens were the original Family on the show she lost everyone. Her Grandmother Annie, Grandfather Jack and her Mother and Robert is in Prison doing a Life Sentence for Murder.

OMG...this just took me back to my high school days and running home to watch my CBS soapies and i'm about ready to cry. Man, don't know where you got this footage from but it was great seeing old faces that I'd forgotten all about. I was instantly transported back! And the first Alan Michael was a dream! I always wished he and Harley would have made it.
Oh how I adored Harley! And how much I miss this show and characters.
Beth Elders was fun to watch. She was geninue. She was dramatic when necessary and very comical when the scene called for it. She played the perfect police woman. Her character had a hard life beginning at childhood. She was a great addition to the show.

I always loved Beth Ehlers. Harley was the best. When I first started watching GL in the summer of '89, the first scene I saw was with Harley and Alan-Michael.

People think Reva was the queen of Guiding Light, my vote goes to Harley. She was one of my favorite characters. I love her impulsiveness because I was very impulsive too and I know how much trouble that can get you into.
Also she was one of those actresses that had chemistry with every guy they put her with. I loved all of her pairings. From Alan-Michael, A.C., Josh, Phillip, Rick, and Gus

I am so EXTREMELY happy to see this!! I have been missing the character and the actress so much lately. Started watching Harley back in 1989 at 13yrs of age. Got home after school by 3:15pm to watch the show. I was completely obsess with Harley and Alan-Michael. I just can't believe that after 8yrs I'm still mourning the loss of this show. I miss all the characters but most especially Harley and I also loved the actress Beth Ehlers.
Harley secretly enjoyed being in the middle of Alan-Michael Spaulding and Dylan Lewis. It was around the time when Harley joined the police academy that GL reached its zenith in writing, acting, and production. 91-93 😍
The Guiding Light had some of the best performers playing so many good characters. what more can I say? Sorry, the show was canceled.

Harley was my favorite GL character at least until Reva showed back lol. So spunky & relatable. Great video. Also, the I'd forgotten how hot the original Alan Michael was!

If you are talking about on this video it was Frank, but if you are talking about when she came on the show I think I've heard she arrived close to when she gave birth to Daisy and I think Dinah and Alan-Michael helped deliver the baby.
Ha, I grew up watching this soap and I remember I would get confused between the names Harley and Holly. I would call them the same thing and would wonder why they had the same name (I was 7 or 8)
Couldnt stand harley. Hated harley/phillip and harley/mallet. Harley was ok with gus or Alan m. no.1. Phillip and Beth 4 life! Mallet and francesca 4life!
