MP3's score really gives me chills and makes me sad at the same time. Looking over Sao Palo with the music as the city's lights blinking and far away cars driving around makes for a real sense of loneliness and depression as if the whole city has a dark side and it's up to you to take care of it.
+ENZOtaki it does have a dark side, but it's also a lovely place, in a crazy way. I guess that's the best description of São Paulo: crazy. Perhaps the craziest city in the world lol
You know, people (hardcore of the hardcore Max Payne fans) can complain about the "lack of noir" (which it certainly still retains) and the deviation of character of Max, and Rockstar taking over, but you have to admit, Rockstar always delivers with innovation and soul when it comes to making a game come to life. Look, I still get nostalgic for the originals, but this took a different step in a good direction, and it really needed it, if you ask me. And you see the kind of care and effort in little videos like this, full-on cooperation and meeting of the minds sort of thing, and you just have to admire it. Plus, this soundtrack is just fantastic, I love just about every track, and it really added to the intensity and immersion like no other game I've ever played, especially a third-person shooter. Normally, I'd complain about linear type games, but this is just one of my absolute favorites. Unforgettable experience, and a great story, and spot-on dialogue, and dark, and yes, Noir.
I feel like the departure was great writing. it's like a narrative exercise in "you can't teach an old dog new tricks." Max is so heavily broken and stuck in his ways that his old way of life will always haunt him wherever he goes. he may be able to stop drinking, stop fucking with the pills... but when you get down to it he will always be that same cop that fell from grace. sure the game lacks a few narrative beats that the first two had, but to me that seems as much unintentional as it was intentional. I mean come on, it's ALL OVER THE NARRATIVE. Max is some washed up Gringo coming to a town he has no business being in... just to escape his past, arguably entering a worse hell than the one he just left. He is a man stuck in the past that the present is constantly fucking, in São Paolo its just a different present fucking the same past.
One of my favorite video game soundtracks of all time. The same goes for Max Payne 3. Such an underrated game, but a wonderful experience. I share some moments in my life with Max, so this one talks to my soul - literally. Massive Kudos to the whole team involved in the development of this masterpiece.
@@agamaz5650 Health and Manhunt's original composer would be an excellent combination! Tried playing Manhunt, man Mutahar from SomeOrdinaryGamers makes it look so easy!
A stem is really just an audio file of any length. It can consist of a single sound or a group of sounds, like drums. Love this game a almost perfect game but for me it is perfect and that’s cause of one thing the music the music for me it’s the greatest ost in all of gaming maybe even fiction for me
I know it didn't sell as much as they wanted... But Oh My God.. This game is in my top 3 favorite games of all time, and I think this is absolutely the best Rockstar game ever still at this day. Don't worry Health, Don't worry Rockstar, you made one of the best game soundtrack ever. I mean it, this is so amazing, I don't have the words. The music is clearly what makes it even more fabulous. And I'll never stop listenning to it from time to time, it's always like the first time ! If only this game had been a success, they would continue to write for Max and we would have more games to the serie.
I am Brazilian and I loved knowing that Rapper Emicida also contributed to the soundtrack of the game ... and was spectacular in the first visit of max in the slums of sao paulo ... =)
The terminal level end music always gives me goose bumps no matter how many times I play it on Score Attack. Health really did an amazing job creating a mood for the whole game.
Awesome soundtrack that makes the game perfect. It envokes the same emotions that are radiating off Max,the deep inner conflicts of his drug and alcohol addictions, makes the gun battles seem more intense and lively, and right when the game reaches such integral parts of the story, the music is dramatized, making it an eerie and unforgetable part. Never have I played a game where the music does an amazing job at making the game such an unforgetable experience, HEALTH did an amazing job.
dude i couldnt agree with you more. i had the same feelings this past summer all thanks to the game and its music. HEALTH really are artists, they do want to push bounds on their music.
easily my favorite third person shooter of all time... and with the most recent mod that youtuber MathChief covered, it's my favorite first person shooter as well.
I have a feeling one of their songs will be in their. They're a L.A based band, and GTAV is in los santos, so they will most likely have a lot of good music from L.A based bands on one of the radio stations. Just like how in GTA4 they had Radio Broker which featured a whole bunch of New York based bands. Hopefully this happens and Health gets a song on the rock station.
The music plays so well in MP3. Tears is a masterpiece, but all the other songs for in nicely as well, combat drugs, UFE, Death, Harm, Pain, such a masterpiece. I want it on vinyl already, dammit! :D
the vocal song at the airport messed up my new york minute hardcore runs a bunch of times. everytime it came on, it was like getting a shot of adrenalin and then i did something stupid. does its job well.
Whatever guy . I don't care how they come off to you in the video their work speaks for itself. They dis an excellent job and I'm sure it couldn't have been easy. I just replayed this game last week and finished it again after all these years and it was even better than I remember it . The last generation of game systems will forever Rule !!
If you watch other interviews with them, they're pretty much always like this. Bored and sometimes look pissed but I guess it's them being 'alternative'. Nice guys though.
I didn't really like their suaual stuff (too noisy and experimental) but Max Payne 3 soundtrack was fantastic. One of the best things about the game, really.
GTA V's soundtrack fits the game, and it's pretty darn good. Max Payne's soundtrack needed to be depressing and melancholic while GTA V's needed to be jazzy and light hearted. They are both good in their own way
Max Payne 3 is in my top 5 favorite video games of all time. I'd say Health's score definitely made this game an even greater experience.
The airport shootout while TEARS plays
And the way Tears dropped when you walk into the terminal at the last level was epic.
so fucking epic indeed.
I guess everyone was prepared to go tactical picking off dudes one by one, and ended up rushing like madmen when the music started.
that was incredible

The airport music was so great. Also loved the music right after Becker gets killed.
If R* makes another Manhunt they should use Health to do the score.
Yes!
xxskullxx1000 that would be just awesome

Manhunt and Max Payne 3 are Rockstar's best games imo

Did anyone forget about the second last mission soundtrack "combat drugs". The rhythm is so awsome.
Don't you love it when two of the people talk. And instead of them just bein there by themselves they're band mate just sit there awkwardly.
MaxPayne 3 was amazing from the music to the action story everything.
The band Health has put an excellent soundtrack for Max Payne 3.

Still one of the best video game soundtracks of all time, still listen to this day.
This is my GOTY for 2012, listening to the songs from the game, makes me think about the summer. Ahh the memories..
Panama was my fav, but the vocals in the airport level had the most epic impact!
It blows my mind that even over 10 years later this band is basically unknown.
The best soundtrack EVER.
I died multiple times per scene, just to listen to the music more. That's my story and I'm sticking with it.

Max Payne 3 had the best soundtrack design of 2012 easily.
when your running down that terminal and tears comes on you feel like the ultimate baddass haahah

Such an amazing soundtrack, makes you want to do everything in slow motion...
I loved the song at the final boss fight. It gave me a good feeling.
One of the best soundtracks I've heard in a while, with "Tears" being the best.
Best Game Ever.....LOved It SOooooo Much
Best soundtrack I ever heard for a video game hands down

7:50 I thought exactly that when playing both read dead and max payne 3
One of the best OSTs of the year, great job Health!
I keep forgetting health did the music that's f ing great. maybe the best game soundtrack since Amon Tobin did splinter cell.
Thanks for letting us know the people who worked behind this masterpiece

Health killed it with Music !! Those drums man !!
that guitar song at 1:19 is fucking top! i think its called Torture.
I absolutely love how pretentious, bored and uninterested the members of HEALTH are during this interview.
Why would you love that

MP3 introduced me to these guys. Death Magic is a fucking amazing.album.
I agree, the airport scene is EPIC
add this to your spotify list it will help
So are stems kind of like leitmotifs?
Tears ost is actually max’es wife and daughter read the lyrics 😭😭😭😭😭 its sad af ”trust us now its time to let me go give up give our soul away”
I heard there will be progressive music in GTA V missions as well, wonder if it's these guys again. :D
Awesome video!
airport scene was raw
Does anyone know the song at 1:54?
Early-stage Jake looks like late-stage Edward Furlong
Do soundtracks for GTA V!! Would be so awesome
Max Panama, Blasphemy; some of the best level soundtracks.
An epic masterpiece
So, this video opens with the original theme song. It all went downhill from there.
7:55 why they are so depressed...
Amazing score, Health should score GTA V.
You can after a time. And you know...you could always skip the longer ones by just doing Arcade mode.
I think they did a perfect job :)
says this interview is a VICE production. is this the same VICE that has a show on HBO?
Yes I think so, they have a website and youtube channel with different types of content.

Will there be a Max Payne 4?
no
Remember when Rockstar created timeless and amazing art? So sad what they became.. rip
This is fucking awesome

correct!
They truly nailed it. In comparison GTAV has a rather crappy soundtrack (and very much inferior shooting mechanics...)
GTA V's soundtrack fits the game, and it's pretty darn good. Max Payne's soundtrack needed to be depressing and melancholic while GTA V's needed to be jazzy and light hearted. They are both good in their own way

how u know they barely got paid

Who's the singer in "Tears"?
Sounds like a woman.
