"Huh, interesting, I'll just watch a couple of minutes" _one hour later_ This playthrough was great fun, and Paula is just incredibly charming and engaging with this type of game. I'm entranced.
OH MY GOD. I laughed so hard at this. First thing on my mind was "Huh, interesting. I'll just watch a couple of minutes." I'm afraid to press play now.
Would have been an easy thing to gloss over the scene of self-harm as just thematic noir, but am appreciative of your recognition and support for those who may be more deeply affected by it. Another fun playthrough, looking forward to more!
Yeah, it was something we wanted to be sensitive to. You never know who is going to watch and what they might be going through at the time. Thanks for joining us on this adventure!
Amazing playthrough, Hope to see a lot more of these. Quality of these videos are pretty high, with both editing and also Paula fully immersing herself in the theme and voices. I felt like I was watching/reading a real story
This was so great! I was just going to watch a little & got pulled in and watched the whole thing! I have been a little intimidated to try this solo but this game is coming off my shelf of shame tonight! Thank you!! 🙂
The glances at the door…is it the cat or something else. “Crazy ol’maurice….” Ruffians throwing Maurice out of the bar, Beauty and the Beast. I have two little girls, that’s my excuse. Love the videos from the Watch it Played Family.
That"s a very good video! I was enjoying myself 😁😁😁 Thank you so much for a great video. I look forward to see more detective/mystery playthrough. I don't mind if you continue this chronicles of crime series. Please do! Thanks again 👍👍👍
Proof that everything Paula touches turns into GOLD! I'm motivated now to get Chronicles off of my Shelf of Opportunity! *I wondered if REDACTED was a bad person from the start ... *
Wow that game really impressed me, definately seems worth trying sometime-works really smooth and clever too. And Paula did a great job narrating and telling the story. I followed through most of it, just struggled not remembering who people were sometimes (only downside of no names on the character cards), but I managed to solve most questions! Good job!
@@joshfrench5858 I have the first game and both expansions. The base game is great for solo. Super fun. I ran into some glitches and poor translation in Noir that kind of broke the experience for me, but the roleplaying and dice mechanics in Redview seem cool (next on my list). I liked it enough to collect the whole series, so that tells you something! I'm not as committed to character as Paula when I play, though 🤣
@@joshfrench5858 I've never played with others, but the rules and gameplay don't change at all. Only difference is you can talk about the case and share ideas (but you also have to argue about what to do) 🤔
The serie 'table for 1' is my favorite so far. I am trying the base game solo, and I am struggling. Especially with remembering all the connections and changes in the stories of the people i question... Paula, do you have any tips for other solo-players?
Rodney here, I sometimes find it really helps to pull out a pen and paper, and jot down notes for myself. When you have more players, you can rely on different people remembering different things, but on your own, you have to do it all, so I like to pretend I'm an actual investigator, who really would be taking notes down.
@@PaulaDeming I know! With the plates combination I was like "No! It's backwards! :D", but then you were right about the apartment. Two heads and all that. Honestly, I'm amazed you did it all w/o taking notes and solo. I wouldn't have been able to keep it all straight in my head.
@@hatchhermit77 there's a History feature in the app that lets you go back and look at what people have said to you--I made very good use of that, those bits just got left on the editing room floor
ooh yes let me know how it goes/if you get different information than I did! I know that if you scan things in different orders, you get different responses. I'd be very curious to know if you discover something I did!
Ugh, it started to make my brain hurt trying to listen/watch and pay attention to my game. It would have worked if I just followed along. I did solve it mostly. I only answered a bit over half correctly.
@@glayher Yes, I suppose watching and playing at the exact same time might have introduced some additional challenges (so award yourself 20 bonus Watch It Played points to your score!)
Woah, came to make a joke about how Rodney has changed since I last saw him (based on the thumbnail), only to find out this is Paula!!! Multiple years of listening (and enjoying) This Game is Broken, and didn't know who it was! Enjoying the video, thanks guys :-)
(Spoilers on this case below) We found most of the facts, but didn't think of showing the newspaper to the doctor. So he never cracked and told us about him healing Samuel. So we tried solving the case but since we never learned that Samuel was the killer, our boss kept telling us to go back and investigate. At last we got a message about Chloe taking pills. When getting there finally we learned about the other apartment and found Samuel. So we solved the case, but it took a lot more time than you, and our score was much lower.
You got it in the end, though! It's so interesting how you can get different information based on who and WHEN you talk to them! Thanks for sharing your experience with me!
@@kmichaelmace I edited out all the times I went through the "history" part of the app to remind myself of what people had said/where I should be going next. If that makes you feel any better!
