I'm really trying to fight past that by reading more historical black fiction.
The Vanishing Half was a good book. You may want to check out the movie Imitation of Life if you haven't already. There are multiple versions of the movie, but each one made me cry. You're on point about Malcolm X and his legacy. In my opinion, both him and Dr. King had the same views regarding the progression of Black people, but different ideas on how to achieve them.
