Boxed for 10 years now and never once had the clinch explained to me properly. None of the gyms I trained at ever focussed on it, (until I began muay Thai). This is a great video! A decade of boxing and still learning new things all the time. Thank you for this video.
Here in 2024 and this video is still helpful! Thank you 🙏 We’ve had a lot of new guys joining our gym and they do exactly as you said: rush with emotion swinging for the fences. There’s only so much footwork you can use because moving backward or sideways will always be slower than the opponent moving forward. So I’ve been really working to dial in my clinch and work on the inside. Yes, as you said, they get emotional and don’t like it. But they expend a ton of energy while I’m just literally placing my body weight on them and winching their arms in. Every “view” helps, so thank you
I'm going for white collar boxing (Cancer Research UK) but having done taster sessions (krav, tkd, karate styles years ago) and spoken to a few actual fighters I have been advised to look at defense against the dark arts. awesome video :D
You are doing such a great thing. I have also done a charity event for cancer. It was one of the best experiences of my life. I wish you the best of luck. Thank you for watching😎😎😎
I don’t even use the word clinch. I use hand fighting. Trapping, framing, and wrestling techniques. I don’t use them strictly as an emergency response. My style is aggressive and stifling. These techniques are very useful in frustrating and tiring your opponent. Also it’s very intimidating when someone is mauling you. I wrestled some in high school as well as boxing, I was really shocked at how disarming it was to get shoved, dragged, and just generally laid heavy hands upon.
Thanks for commenting. You’re absolutely right. Infighting and clinching is an art form in itself. It can easily frustrate then overwhelm and opponent. Thanks for watching 😎😎
Amateur boxers are boxers that compete and fight but don’t get paid. Like in the olympics. The rules a just a bit different and they are usually 3 or 4 round fights as opposed to pro fights that could be up to 12 rounds.
Jesus is Lord. God bless. He loves and Forgives. God isn't someone who waits for your downfall, but your redemption through His Son Jesus. Repent. This may seem uncalled for but just trust the Lord. Give God a chance, not being religious but have a relationship with God. Call out to Him and try and hear His voice in your heart, He doesn’t go against His Word, the Bible. If you reject it, ay your choice, God gives free will. Just got to say, He has plans to prosper you not to harm you. Again ain't saying be religious, but give God a chance. God bless you.
I no it's supposed to be effective buy I feel clinching should be banned from boxing its too much of a crutch for me it's just kinda lame it's not ufc or wrestling it's not a grappling sport in my eyes
You’re not alone. Many people share your opinion. It decently slows the action down. That one thing that people prefer about amateur boxing. Thanks so much for watching 😎😎😎

I thank you for taking the time to watch and comment. I’m also always learning new things 😎😎😎
The Art of clinching is forgotten nowadays. It can definitely turn a fight around if it's strategically placed in your gameplan
This was really good, very helpful.
Thanks for watching : )

Also useful for MMA and street fights.
Absolutely ... thanks for watching 😎😎😎
not really, clinch is absolutely useless in a street fight, can get you down in no time, you can be head butted or kicked in the balls then
as usual great video and laughed so hard at the mike tyson reference in the beginning
Lol…. Thanks again for taking the time to watch😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎

^Agreed, Roberto Duran was a master of this imo.
Here after watching the old Cecil Coffee and Bert Cooper fight which spend most of the fight in the clinch, ending with an anime style nose bleed TKO.
talk about roberto duran's clinching style !!!!!
Thanks bud 😉

Honestly this technique should not be allowed in professional boxing.
Yeah it should
