Coach I love when I show the pros, and the cons of certain moves. Like the danger of being caught with that right hand if u didn't smother or pivot out, A1 stuff bruh. I'm late to your channel but im subbed up bro
Hey Coach Anthony, the Philly Shell video is awesome! You give all the small details. I especially like how you note Eddie leans back as that's his preference. Cheers from Down Under.
Thank you for the knowledge coach. I’m going to pick up all your instructional videos, along with some other trainers, to help build a base of knowledge that I can share with those at my gym. I’m currently in a small MMA gym with good fighters but somewhat lacking instruction when it comes to the small technical things in boxing. I want to start teaching a boxing class on fridays after work there but need to formulate a curriculum for sorts to ensure I’m not teaching improper technique. I’m sorry but can we just stop for a second and talk about something real quick... don’t know why I chose this specific video but it had to be said...this man is literally giving TONS of information within 5-8 minutes worth of video. Granted, you can purchase full videos on his website but for people who wouldn’t be able to afford it this is beyond great. Keep up the good work man, trust me when I tell you, WE ALL appreciate it.
I'm sure Anthony wasn't even thinking about this, but this seems like a fantastic move for a good grappler to use to close the distance in MMA (or a street fight for that matter).
I was doing this in an amateur fight ref was stopping me for hitting him with the shoulder.... I mean it works perfect but it might depend on the ref....
Coach Anthony! Love the videos man, you're really giving a lot and I love watching your videos as a semi-beginner. I got 2 questions though! First, would it be a good idea to try and land bodyshots from that position? I can imagine dipping the knees a little for some extra power and second: When you cut an angle from that position, what kind of follow-up would be best to keep your opponent on the ropes? Cheers man and thanks again for the video! Fingers crossed that you see this!
Coach. This reminds me of tyson holyfiled 1. It seemed like evander was using this strategy to smother and stay inside on tyson and popping off short uppercuts and hooks. Seemed awkward for a taller guy to push into the pocket like that but it neutralized a lot of Tyson's combos. And he got off some effective shots inside. Is it similar tactic to this? Like ur thoughts. Great vids!
Have you made a video about defending against the overhand right when in the Philly shell? I've always been able to easy roll and deflect the straight right, but had trouble with overhand rights, unless I outright ducked or blocked them by hand.
Masha’Allah! Insha’Allah you have a successful career sister and props to you coach for well.. just simply being you! Humble and very knowledgeable! Alhamdulilah!
So could you set up your angle change by conditioning your opponent to wait for the break via ref in the early rounds and then later on pivot off the smother and follow up?

One would only think about smothering the other opponent in the event they are getting out boxed by the taller or faster boxer, but the boxer would need to know their range and be excellent on the inside of the taller or faster fighter, but attempting boxer trying this would also other themselves or would get their head stuffed and red would motion the boxer to get their head up..imo.
Good video, from a street fighting perspective 4:07 you can drive in with an elbow into the body (ribs/sternum/liver), would definitely hurt an attacker.
