What a great video! I liked the way you flew the plane with the cowl off first to be able to make adjustments. The P47 is a very stable and forgiving plane. You are a very down to earth person and I love your sense of humor and you just being you. Awesome job Sir.
What a great review. I really enjoyed both videos. I've never had a thunderbolt that didn't fly great. You need to do as many reviews as you can, because you do such a thorugh and concise job. Thanks!!!
Just found this on my feed... now can't stop watching... I quit the hobby years ago... but watching this is getting me hyped up to give it another go... Great Job!
My Brother, I'm so happy that I ran into your channel and it nice to and very refreshing to see and here a intelligent Black Man in this hobby. At one time in the 70's & 80's I built and flow RC planes but being in the Navy for 21 years didn't give me time to get deeper in the the hobby. but now i just fly Drones and i try to give back to my community by teaching at risk kids to fly. Happy and Safe flying. You got a new subscriber here.
I laughed when you imitated the firing of your machine guns. It shows that we’re all big kids and just want to play with our toys. Keeping it simple and fun!!
the razorback is one of the most beautiful planes ever made i think! absolutely adore your channel, always cheers me up while im awake at 4am struggling to sleep, thank you sir.
Sounds great and looks even better! I love the Razorbacks they are one of my favorite warbirds to fly! Very nice assembly and review flight videos! Thanks !
These kits seem so easy these days. When I was young we had to use so many bulkheads and stringers epoxied and pinned to actually build the fuselage and wings. Now it seems so easy. Very tempting.
Outstanding video and channel! I've been working my way through your videos since stumbling upon them and they have been very entertaining. Your videos remind me of the hobby programs (generally model railroading but a bit of RC as well) that used to air on PBS when I was a kid. Informative and genuine - enthusiastic presentations showcasing model aviation. Thank you for creating and sharing such quality content.
Your narration is as great as the video. Another balancing option is to either create a compartment or attach a small container such as a pill bottle. Into either you can gradually add lead shot, steel shot, or any available hardware to any exact balance. Harbor Freight has very inexpensive hardware assortments suitable as weight. Larger Walmart stores has some similar. Tractor supply sells common nuts and bolts for $2.69 per pound for any size.
Great job on the build and very impressive maiden. Much gutsy-er than my maidens which are pretty tame but love that feeling going from trepidation to confidence to joy. I love my P-47 Razorback and have over 50 flights on it without a scratch. Stay well and keep flying. Doug K Anchorage Alaska
Well done, nice plane, nice build, nice video etc etc... I used to fly radio controlled helicopters 40 years ago, after graduating high school and enlisting in the military and life since I haven't been anywhere near the RC hobbies but am very tempted to get back into it, watching these videos I'm amazed at how far all of this has come. I'm looking forward to more of your videos for guidance and insight into getting back into the hobby. Very nice and keep up the good work 👍👍👍.
Loved watching both part 1 and part 2. I would have been very nervous on that maiden flight (I always am anyway). I've never flown a GP aircraft, yet I have two of them out in my shed that I have yet to finish. Loved your review, and I especially enjoyed your knowledge and thoughts on this build. Thank you for another great set of videos.
Thank you very much for the post of this fanatical video with a lot of information. I like to look at your "posts" because I find the way of your presentation incredibly relaxed. No excessive fuss and shouting but very pleasant. By the way, you have a very nice voice and the models you choose are always up-to-date. Thank you for all this and I hope you will make many more videos.
People have it so easy these days, back in the 80s when I was big into RC we had to design and build from 3 view scale drawings, although sometimes there was a kit available but if wanted bragging rights at the field you did it the hard way.
Pretty good maiden, all the parts were still in the correct place when you landed. I can't be sure, it's been a long time past when I assembled this ARF kit and it looks like some improvements have been made. They do fly well but the warbirds aren't my favorite. The 47 and 38 are still my favorite warbirds though. I think I would enjoy assembling another one. Outstanding video by the way!!!!
That looks a very well mannered war bird!! Didn't seem to have any bad vices, great video👍 I like the relaxed way you present your videos!! Well done 😄
Fantastic Video!! Thank you for taking the time to produce it. I've been considering a Hangar 9 P-51 and this may push me over the edge. Look forward to more videos!
Really enjoyed your construction and flight videos ! Very well done. I have been looking at this plane and after your vids I believe I will be flying one of these this summer. Thank You and all the best ...
Great review and it shows the plane is designed pretty well. I hadn't seen one before and now I feel like I would know what I was getting in to if I did get one. Hysol 9462 is your friend and I trust it's ability better than epoxy - especially when each control surface connection only has a single G-10 arm instead of 2 in parallel with a Dubro ball link in between per surface. It doesn't run so you can also lay a small fillet around each arm for a little extra help. It's also a good idea to drill a few more small holes through the surface that goes inside the control surface to give it more 'rivet' like capture points inside the control surface. Don't be shy about slathering up the surface and filling the hole before install it. Use painters tape around the hole first so it captures the over flow and painless cleanup.
Is there any concern that the holes drilled in the engine mount for those cg weights might become a weak spot due to engine torque or vibration? I'm not a RC pilot..... but just curious. Great looking plane and I enjoy your commentary on all your videos. Keep up the good work!
Nice plane. As a small engine mechanic, the burbling drove me nuts. I know its a new engine and probably set up a bit rich. I love the new 4 strokes. No mess of oil everywhere. I was suprised at how much weight it took to balance it but thats what it took then thats what it took. Its best to use more epoxy when gluing on those horns than not enough. Good thing you caught that!
What an awesome story, oh I mean video! Well to tell it bro. Looking forward to watching more of your videos. Why has TH-cam not put your videos in front of me before now.
Your P-47 flies great I really envy you. Just wondering if you still using your TTX850 tactic radio. If you are thinking about selling it please let me know before I buy a new radio. I really love 8 channel tactic radio....I'm still a beginner, Thanks
What a great video! One question, did you have to give a bit of down trim with the cowl back on? I would think without the cowl it might be a tiny bit tail heavy? Anyway, THANKS! GREAT JOB!
Really appreciate your video! I have the same model running a tacon110 electric motor. With two 6-cell 4000 milliamp batteries in series, Castle creation 80 amp high voltage speed controller with external battery for receiver. Apc prop 15/8 (not thin ecectric) Had to set throttle stop at 65% to keep from destroying this airplane. Unlimited vertical performance. 7 minutes flight time at half throttle. Very nice flyer. Nice to see a new video on this model! Thanks again!
It appears that it is a bit more nose heavy than it needs to be especially when it rolled inverted you had to input alot of down elevator to keep the nose up and also your spectrum transmitter should have a servo reverse on the elevator halves instead of adding a reverse module that is if you had each servo on a separate channel instead of a y harness, Also nice plane looks great
I had considered moving the CG back, but it flew so well and the owner didn't complain so i didn't try to fix something that wasn't broken. I used the servo reverse module as the owner often uses six channel receivers and mixing would require a 7th channel.
Turbo chargers don't work very well with 2 stroke engines, there's a variety of reasons but the biggest issue about trying it is that with a 2 stroke engine of this type the exhaust and intake ports are open at the same time and most of the charge from the turbo blows across the top of the piston and right out the exhaust, fuel consumption goes up by ×3 and power increase is negligible, plus it will have a very narrow and unpredictable power band and massive turbo lag. Also there's the issue of lubricating the turbo, without the recirculating oil system a 4 stroke has it'd require a separate oil tank with some sort of pump to circulate oil to the turbo shaft, by the time you do everything you'll wind up having to add ballast to the tail of the plane and then you'd wind up at a point where the small power increase wouldn't offset the weight increase.
@@buckstarchaser2376 Yea, that's why he put more oil in the mix, standard break in procedure for a 2 stroker, that things like a little weed whacker engine, I like the way you're thinking though 👍👍👍.
