Elizabeth Montgomery, who played the lead role of Samantha in the TV show "Bewitched," often did not wear a bra due to the fashion trends of the 1960s and 1970s, which embraced a more natural look. Additionally, the costume design and personal comfort choices may have influenced this decision. The era saw a shift towards less restrictive clothing, and actresses like Montgomery contributed to setting new standards in TV fashion.
Bra or no bra, I liked her very much and thought she was a wonderful actress. Who can ever forget her as Lizzie Borden? She could play comedy or drama, a real pro.
It's been fifty-three years since season eight of BEWITCHED was made. This was during the women's movement. Going without a bra was Elizabeth's way to support that movement. She didn't that throughout the entire season. That's tame to what some women''sb fashions have evolved into since, or before. For example, Liz never wore a thung or string bikini, that i've ever seen. If one notices the outfits that Liz wore on BEWITCHED, they were all high necked dresses or blouses, buttoned up, or turtlenecks with scarves around her neck. The only exception is in the episode MOTHER MEETS WHAT'S-HIS-NAME. In that episode, Liz did wear a low cut dress, a dress provided by a clothier. After season two, Elizabeth wore her own clothes. She was very modest. Elizabeth was an activist for people most of her adult life. Her early stance against the Vietnam War brought on death threats. Ironically, the country came round to her views. ❤ Robert Foxworth has said that he felt that Robert Montgomery was jealous of his daughter's success and popularity. He also didn't approve of her politics. She was a liberal and he was a right wing conservative.
Classy lady. I'm in the minority, but I love her version of Dark Victory (1976). It's better than Bette's (who I also love). I was so sad when she died of cancer. Definitive Lizzie Borden. Not to be missed. ❤❤❤❤
I never ever went without a bra or panties what are we teaching that it's okay not to wear a bra or panties i wasn't raised that way respect for yourself and others
I agree with you, Victoria. I was in a Ross store 2 days ago, and saw a mother with her (about) 3 year old daughter in one of the aisles. She was only engaged with her phone, and not the child who wanted her attention. The only time she got that was when she put her hand up the mother's very short skirt (no underwear) and touched here "there". The mother said "How many times do I have to tell you not to touch mommy there?" The child just giggled while the mother went back to talking to whomever, as if it were nothing.
