- The Bahama's Donald Thomas was the unexpected winner when he won the gold medal by jumping 2.35m at his first attempt. Sweden's olympic champion Stefan Holm failed to clear this height - his best of 2.33 was good enough only for fourth. Jaroslav Rybakov of Russia won his third World Championships silver medal. Kyriakos Ioannou's bronze was the first medal ever for Cyprus at any World Championships.

Thanks for the upload. Glad this came up in my recommendations. I remember reading about the stair-steps/scissors technique of Donald Thomas. Was cheering for Stefan Holm but he lost his bounce somewhere along the way.
Such a beautiful technic...Thomas
Great video. Nice flops and jumping style of the competitors so well done to them all.
Moya's clearance on 2.30m was strange. He hit it hard but then somehow brushed it with his heels ot keep it perfectly still? 3:50
He got lucky... His legs afterwards hit the bar again putting it back in place if you look closer...
thomas amazing...vasquet ball.lo que hizo thomas no se volvera a ver en la historia del salto alto .increible.
good point
Thomas is losing so much angular energy by moving his legs so much during flight
yes
@mychannel61 That's debatable. He actually jumped his outdoor personal best (2.37m) in the final year of his career.
@jeffymeh I just heard that Stefan is going to do a comeback in the Swedish Championships :)
