    I have a Quaker parrot, and I personally would recommend those guys to anyone starting out, child that’s responsible/ adults alike.
    Got him at 3 months, he wasn’t tame and he was the last of 3 siblings kept in a cage together.
    He’s been fantastic, bonded to me in under 2 weeks, stepped up after about 2 and a half; and is the most patient and sweet little fella. I adore him.
    I want a ringneck next soooo badly, then maybe a little Caique or a lorikeet. And I definitely want a little parrotlett too.
    But my DREAM bird is a maccaw. Love those guys!!! On my bucket list of things to have before my time is up on this planet.

    I watch all of your videos and I don’t even have a bird, or a boyfriend. Hopefully one day I will. When I finally get a bird I will already know what to do to give the bird the best possible life.

      Same! I’ve always loved birds, and have always had a special connection with them. I even made the best of friends with a wild dove as a child, who chose my bedroom window flower box as a nest. I’d spend hours everyday talking to her, and she would just look at me and listen intently, sometimes cooing back. She even allowed me to pet her and her baby, but I was the only she would allow anywhere near her. The second anyone else entered the room, she’d fly away until they left. She and her baby stayed around our home for their lifespan. I loved all animals before, but that really solidified my love for birds as well. I so wish I could own a bird, but multiple different factors in my life, mainly allergies and chronic illness, prevent that from being possible. I know I wouldn’t be a suitable home for a bird right now, which is unfortunate. So for now, I stick with rescue dogs. I love learning about birds though and love experiencing a taste of what it’s like through these videos. I’m so glad to have found BirdTricks a few years ago. I’ve learned so much from them!
      Best wishes for you and your future bird! 🐦💕

    My Galah has been with us for almost a year now. Many things influenced this, but in the end, it was NOT the plan, but she ended up being my first bird. I've studied Birdtricks for months beforehand to get properly ready, watched vids and purchased all your content (missed the online consultations though :((( ) and tbh I have no idea how I'd have managed without that. Even with it was, well, very challenging. We've come a long way. She's a difficult child, but she's taught me SO much. It's a great shame you guys are on another continent :)

    I love Galahs. I live in Sydney Australia. The sometimes hang upside down just outside my window eating the seed pods on a liquid amber tree. They chat a lot and sometimes fight. Great entertainment. It’s good to see such a happy one.

    Just sub'd and would like to give a warning to bird owners. I am new being a bird parent and training is going well. I spend a lot of time with my feathered friends (two parakeets) as I am retired. They get along well, like veggie chop and flying around the house. I let them out on the porch in a cage while I get some work done around the house so they get fresh air and see the wild birds. Well the wife was sitting reading a book out on the porch with them life is good. Well she came in and told me a black snake was up by the birds. I went out and sure enough a five foot black snake was fixin to have lunch. The snake was two feet from the cage so I got the cage and put the birds inside. The snake was not happy I ruined his lunch plans. Things could of ended worse, as I set the cage outside when I mow the yard and not around. So I will not be leaving them unattended outside anymore. Hope this gives people something to think about. PS the snake is alive and well and happy he ran into me and not someone else. Thank you for your videos, God Bless everyone

    Hey Jamie, I know this isn’t related so much to the video but I have a Quaker parrot named Paco and he is very cage aggressive and I’ve handled him everyday and he all a sudden turned very aggressive and I’m not sure what to do. He is on a pellet diet( Marlene blend ) with 12 hours of sleep so I was wondering if you had any tips that I could use because I would love for him to be as loving as he was before and also he was hand fed, but thank you for reading this if you do and I would love if you responded!
    Edit: I also have a sun conure, budgie, blacked capped conure and a Catalina macaw and they are all very friendly but I would say my black capped conure is kinda shy but he is not like Paco so I didn’t know if that was something you would need to know to help me with Paco!

    Interesting that he said a galah wouldn't be his preferred bird. As great as they seem, maybe that cockatoo side still comes out.

    • @KindAnimalServices_official
      @KindAnimalServices_official ปีที่แล้ว

      He wants a Green-Wing Macaw or another really large Macaw. Little more "calm" and "cuddly". Fable never stops or sits still, you always have to have one eye one her.

    Serious question - how do the birds not just fly away?

  • @J_loves_lu
    @J_loves_lu ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Galah’s aren’t an easy parrot breed nor would I recommend a galah as a starter bird 😅 I’ve been an African grey owner for over 25 yrs … & I’ve had my galah now for just about a year ❤ I got her very young (5 months) old & she’s now 1; they need so much time, support, training & attention … diet is also very important with galahs; all that aside I love her so much ! But this isn’t an impulse buy or adopt bird; no parrot is but galah’s are def challenging ❤

    • @KindAnimalServices_official
      @KindAnimalServices_official ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't think there is such a thing as a starter bird. But yes, I agree Galahs are very busy birds and most are not given a healthy diet. Even more than diet is exercise! It's absolutely necessary to keep them healthy. ❤

    • @J_loves_lu
      @J_loves_lu ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@KindAnimalServices_official I agree !! But when I said starter bird; I meant that some parrot breeds are “easier” to have & care for by “first time” parrot owners ❤️ but yes parrots in general are not easy to own by any means !

      From a reputable breeder. These parrots live a very time and are a lifetime commitment. They will outlive you so make arrangements for their welfare after you’re gone. They are feathered toddlers that don’t grow up. They are highly intelligent. They are a lot of work and require your undivided attention. Think carefully before deciding to bring one of these wonderful creatures into your life. Know what you’re getting into. Too many of these parrots end up in bird rescues surrendered by impulse buyers who didn’t do the research.

      Firstly: reaserch everything you can (meaning just watch BirdTricks really)
      Then decide if you can even fit one in majority of people can’t spent enough time / can’t afford it / don’t have the patience ect
      I would oh so highly recommend volunteering at a bird rescue/sanctuary to be around them ( and know how high energy and the cheeky-ness of them) and listen to the noise
      Then if you are one of the few people who is actually supposed to own a bird (a lot of people do have them as pets (more like life commitments) but as Jamie Leigh said and I completely agree ‘birds aren’t for everyone, most everyone’ )
      You know these birds can live to 100 right?
      (Also macaw not macar)
