This video was on a VictorTV DVD which came with Atreyu's "A Deathgrip On Yesterday" and I fell in love with most of the bands on it, like Comeback Kid, Beneath The Sky, Sinai Beach, Darkest Hour, Aiden, Bayside, BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME (Saw them for the 3rd time a few days ago, and "Colors" is my favourite Progressive Metal of all time!)

Matt J here: The video was shot in an abandoned warehouse in Brooklyn (without a permit) on 35mm film and cost almost $35k to make. The song was one of the first ones we wrote when I joined the band in 2002 when most of us were still in high school.

I know these guys very well. Their original inspiration was Darkest Hour and Hatebreed so they technically got on their dream record label. Terrible decision though. That's why all the original members quit the band. They all owe money to the label and never made a dime for themselves. Paid money to survive on tour. The reason they were cursed is because they kicked their original drummer (Mike Bortle) out of the band, and erased him from their history. The band name was actually created by his younger brother Brett Bortle. When Brett gave a demo of our band to Jamie Jasta, Dennis Miller said "Throw that shit in the trash". Karma will do funny things to arrogant bands. Our local scene didn't like them much after a while either. I don't have any hard feelings towards these guys though. We are all still friends, including the Bortle brothers but I know why things played out the way they did and I enjoyed hearing of their failures as a band. XD
Metalblade releases a lot of bad vocal productions and Dennis was a terrible screamer. His voice destroyed their first EP. I was there in the studio (Reel Time) when they recorded it. The inconsistent lows made bad stuff happen to the music. The vocal track for this video and the entire album was actually not Dennis a lot of the time because he was so terrible. George Moore secretly did a lot of the vocals for this album. He also wrote the lyrics and the guitar parts. Dennis was more of a live vocalist. Metalblade might have cost them less money though...so I can't really disagree.
I'm definitely not well versed in everything TAO offers, but this early stuff absolutely kills!! Not saying they were bad by any means after but this frontman reminds me alot of Bell from Fear Factory. I hope he's living good, but if he's ever feeling froggy, I wouldn't mind seeing him reunite with TAO!
Did you hear the song. It does have cleans. Not as many as the typical metalcore song but still, it does have them. That being said, it doesnt have a breakdown so youre half right
