    This stick looks really nice, I still need to upload my video.
    That art you made on the stick looks cool.

      Feel free to use the art. I'm looking to get mine printed on to some sort of silkscreen plastic. The paper can warp with age and is subject to wringing from humidity.

    Got a DIY Fighting Board set for my B-Day, enjoyed building it a lot. Nice Job on the Astro City cover!

    Very nice build, Mark. It looks great. Also, with that kind of heft, not only can you use it to play games, but you can also use it to fight off intruders!

      Lol, indeed. A smack across the head with this thing would sure cause some damage.

    Nice build Mark. Definitely a quality product by the looks of it, and quite pricey too by the time you add the Brook board, harnesses, buttons and joystick.

    • @RetroCore
      @RetroCore  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was very lucky to be presented the actual stick base but the buttons and Brook board I bought. The Brook board is not so expensive and here in Japan Sanwa buttons are about 100 yen each, so not a great deal. But yeah, it can be quite expensive in the West due to the cost of Sanwa parts over there.

    Good stuff. I modded a bunch of Konami Hypersticks (my favorite!), but on one I threw in a Brook Retro Board, put in the RJ45 Gamecube cable and some new Seimitsu buttons, and it now is a Game Boy Player-specific stick for GameCube. There's no better way to play the Game Boy lineage than with an arcade stick!

    really cool build, I might have to look into this when I have the spare coin to do a Raspberry Pi 4 setup, but I just had to spend $6K USD on new plumbing for my house, so it's gonna be a bit. 😔

    • @RetroCore
      @RetroCore  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh man, that's a lot of cash to spend on plumbing. But a cost that must be paid.

    I'm gonna buy the Astro City Mini Arcade Stick.. looks very nice and has Sanwa parts.. ordered it on Amazon.. hopefully it should be compatible with PC :D

    • @RetroCore
      @RetroCore  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh, I'm so looking forward to the mini Arcade. I did have the stick on order but have since cancelled the order. There's no point in owning that when I have this. Still, if I had not made this stick I'd be all over the official Astro City from Sega.

    So does the stick come with the harness you're using to connect the controls to the Brook board?

    • @RetroCore
      @RetroCore  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep. It comes with everything except the Brook Universal Fighting Board and buttons . So when you buy the stick it has all the connecting cables, connecting PCB and feet. It's all ready to go once you have an interface board and some buttons.

  • @Subar_Sama
    @Subar_Sama 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I guess it's possible, but I wonder if you can wire a coin mechanism to this if you put it in an arcade cabinet.

    • @RetroCore
      @RetroCore  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sure, there are plenty of extra buttons. You just need to set up the software to register one of the buttons as a coin mech.

    You can consult the controller lag of several pcbs at inputlag.science, the methodology used is the most reproducible possible at the moment. And yes the brook ufb is sitting at the top of the chart, with an average lag of 1ms, and more importantly, 94% of inputs coming on time (next frame after pressing the button). Even the negative edge lag is faster than most pcbs. Nice choice!

    I would love to learn more of how to set up an arcade like that so I can play shmups. How much did that all cost together for such a build ?

    • @RetroCore
      @RetroCore  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh man, I'm not the man to show that. It took me weeks of messing about. I can tell you that most Web sites will tell you to add a small script to the Retro Pie boot config to rotate the screen. DON'T DO THIS. it really hurts performance. You need to configure the fronted (emustation) and retro arch separately.
      Here's a breakdown of my costs.
      Raspberry Pi 4B kit (all cables included) = 10,000 yen
      Monitor = 3600 yen (used, obviously)
      Vertical stand for monitor = 2400 yen
      Arcade buttons and joystick = about 5000 yen
      Creative Labs Speakers = 2800 yen.
      The actual joystick base was given to me so I don't know how much that cost.
      Use XE.com to convert yen in to any currency.

    Have you ever got yourself a MiSTer? I would love if you did video's covering it!

    • @RetroCore
      @RetroCore  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nah, funny thing is, I'm just not interested in the MiSTer at all. I like the Analogue products because they look flash and function like an actual console. The MiSTER to me is basically a Raspberry Pi with less choice.
      Of course I understand it is FPGA over software emulation but that just doesn't excite me. It is a great product but just not something I want at the moment.

    Quick question! Is that causing deep enough to fit Happ or IL style joysticks??

    • @RetroCore
      @RetroCore  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm afraid I can't answer that. I've never actually used a Bat style stick on a consumer joystick. I would imagine it would fit since there is a plastic bracket that the joystick sits on which can be removed. That would give you another 7 or so mm. Best ask the guys at TR fightstick.

    Forgive me if this was in the video and I missed it, but what the ballpark cost of something like this?

    • @RetroCore
      @RetroCore  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure how much the stick base costs because I was luckily enough to be given that. The Brook fighting board, button and stuff I had to buy. Being in Japan I pay peanuts for Sanwa parts so it's not really fair to give you a price. Check the links in the video description to find the price of the base stick and the Brook Universal Fighting Board. The Sanwa buttons and stick prices for your region can be found on Amazon.

    Is the fight stick big enough to put the actual raspberry pie inside the unit? I've been toying with this idea...would make a complete all in one unit.

      It's big enough to put 10 raspberry pi in it.

    Hello friend, very good video! I have seen that case on the official website and I really like its design, when I buy it, only the case comes? or comes the connection cable and some accessory. That on your page is not specified and I asked them but I have not had an answer, probably due to the demand or the parties. greetings brother like and sub (I don't know how to speak English very well, sorry if I have spelling mistakes haha)

    • @RetroCore
      @RetroCore  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm afraid you only get the main case and 1 PCB and cables inside.
      The buttons, and interface PCB need to be bought separately.
      I bought Sanwa buttons and stick. For the interface PCB, I bought the Brook Universal Fighting Board www.brookaccessory.com/detail/06960737/

      @@RetroCoreThanks friend, I already bought everything else and the case is on the way to be assembled, I love the design you have in fact I bought green and pink buttons for the astro city type assembly, by chance you will not have the design that you uploaded but for taito's layout? If I'm not mistaken, the one you have is the one from sega 2p and I ordered the one from taito: c, I love your video because they just agree that I wanted to put together an astro city design along with the same tmx case haha, greetings!

    Hi Mark, niiiiiiice video man, that’s an amazing joystick 🕹, how much was the total cost for all of those parts if you don’t mind, i just want to compare prices. I would only use sanwa parts as well. 😎👍👍👍🇬🇧

    • @RetroCore
      @RetroCore  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks 👍. Thing is, I live in Japan and Sanwa parts for me are very cheap. All buttons and stick came in at about 20 pounds if that.
      Please check the links for the prices on the Brook Universal Fighting Board and TR Fight Stick. I got my stick base given to me so I'm not sure of the cost.

    Hi there, sorry in having to pester you by comment posting but, I’ve been searching for days now and just can not find anywhere that even mentions them or are out of stock of them, have ceased stocking them, and that’s the… Sanwa PlayStation arcade buttons with the shapes on them… please, please help…

      I love in Japan so the only options I can give would be in Japan I'm afraid.
      I bought my PlayStation marked arcade buttons from Rakuten. It's kind of like Amazon but with a really crappy search system.

    Can you make a tutorial on how to make and print art like that? Or do you know of a tutorial?

    • @RetroCore
      @RetroCore  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have links to the file in the video description. As for printing it, I just used a normal ink jet printer that could handle A3 on quality mode.

    • @DontPaniku
      @DontPaniku 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RetroCore I bought this same fight stick. I put a Brooks Retro Board in it instead so I could use it on my old consoles. Sadly no artwork on it.

    • @RetroCore
      @RetroCore  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, that's the bummer. And due to the size of the stick, an average home printer can't be used since they normally only reach A4 size.
      If you take the file I've provided to a printing shop, they'll be able to print you out a good copy. Actually, I want to get the image printed on to silk screen plastic. Not sure how much that would cost though.
