Me too. The composer Michael Hoenig was the best choice for these games. I have listened to the soundtracks to Icewind Dale I and II, Pillars of Eternity I and II and while they are good, Hoenig's work on Baldur's Gate series is on another level. It's amusing to me how hard Larian is trying to be on par with the original Baldur's Gate quality by hiring on a world-class classical composer/conductor, yet still it is subpar to Michael Hoenig's work on these games. You can tell the music is good quality in general musical terms, but it just doesn't have the same understanding and originality. As I like to say, Baldur's Gate III is not Baldur's Gate III; it just a title/name now.
Geez... despite me being 28 years old and only really playing this game for the first time 2 years ago, this feels so nostalgic. Maybe because it does remind me of the earlier times, in my youth, where I also played video games.
This game was 3/4ths of my life ago. The nostalgia is insane and apart from that it's an awesome piece of soundtrack. Brings me right back to being a kid, the magic of sitting infront of your first own computer. Fast forward til know and I feel technology is something toxic, disgusting even. A detriment for the individual aswell as society.
Maybe because we were kids. Everything was so simple, but we only know it when we're grown people with reponsabilities, after we lost somenof our loved ones. Maybe your kids or nephews will cherish their memories from the 2010 2020 era with the same feelings as us for the 90s and early 00s, not even remembering how shitty the world was. Anyway, BG was a huge part of my gaming life, it was too difficult for me back then tho ahah. I finished it 10 years ago on my Android tablet. I don't know if i will find the same emotion for bg3.
@@fruitycoconut i know i wont, bg3 is a totally different game, its an amalgamation of Divinity's soul, not BG1's in truth. Its still a good game, but, i think the only way we're ever going to be able to "feel BG1" again is if some dev team comes out with a per-rendered 2D isometric RPG. something that doesn't take itself too seriously, that leans into campy stereotypes while still giving options to make unique characters and multiclasses if a dev team could pull that off we'd be able to play "BG1 for the first time" again
