Music, Stages, Fighters, Game system, combos, fun factor...
One thing I like about it is the roster size. Don't get me wrong, I love stupid big rosters like MvC2 and KoF02, but I find it easier to hone in whoever you end up maining. Kinda like a quality over quantity almost.
I don't normally feel that way about smaller rosters but for this game, I feel like it's perfect and wouldn't change anything about it.
@@Jeffmetal42 no, too many missing characters. I need my gym buster lol. Shame motw2 never got finished. That roster looked sick.
I love the fact that some characters like Terry has multiple stages, Hokutonaru's stage changes between rounds and if specific conditions are met there can be even different characters in the background. It's those little details that make this the definitive Fatal Fury title
Last Blade 1 is underrated. Garou is an amazing classic.
Last Blade PERIOD is underrated. That's another game people need to know. They're both solid, but only the sequel has rollback.

@@MrCageCat Both, actually. They don't play any different on either platform. BUT the Steam version always assumes you're using a stick regardless of the controller you're using. It doesn't matter THAT much to me, personally, but it could annoy others when navigating menus. Just remember what you mapped A, B, C, and D to. The Playstation version doesn't do that. Cross is ALWAYS confirm on the menus regardless of your preferred button mapping.

We held a tournament last month for this game for all LATAM players, it was mad fun.
Garou is underrated only by capcom fanboys.... Garou is the Equivalent to SF 3S, is another Masterpiece every FG player should try out
Sure it's not underrated in the SNK fan base, but I don't think you realize how much wider of an appeal Capcom has than SNK. Remember a couple years ago when they put Terry and smash and the only people who knew who he was were S&K fans and sakurai himself? Now compare that to when they added ryu. Everybody knows ryu. Even if they don't play Street fighter, they know who he is. So yeah, to a degree I would say this game is kind of underrated on a broader scope. It's a really good game and a high point for the series it came from, but it's still not a game that enough people are talking about. Instead of calling Justin out as a "Capcom fanboy" who just doesn't know enough about SNK, you should take a look at the series from a different view and be glad that he's showing this game off to people who might be casuals and may not even know that it exists. .
@@SirLightsOut99 Justin has expressed multiple times that Capcom Tournaments were the ones paying, which is why he focused on those games and only tried out SNK every once a while while still liking them, which I understand... Then what's the excuse for the non-top competitive crowd?, which are most players even ... pure ignorance and st*pidity to be honest. Of course SNK fans/people that played fighting games as a genre and not just capcom titles know. But it is only recently that people are giving a try to SNK titles and realize how much they missed out on
Idk about that. This seems to be one of the more popular snk games with capcom fans
@@SirLightsOut99 in early 2000s it was far more popular because it was easier to pirate and play emulated compared to cps3 arcade boards

Whenever someone asks me what the single best fighting game to play is, I always say GAROU: Mark of the Wolves. It doesn’t have a huge roster, but it has personality. It’s not the deepest mechanics, but they work beautifully. It’s perfect in that it exceeds all of its imperfections
I like that they actually balanced the boss characters in this game to a point where playing as them wouldn't feel unfair, they've both got really cool movesets too. The characters I played the most with my limited knowledge though were Terry and Hotaru.
Been dying to see JW fight someone who plays Grant in this, finally lol.
I love playing with Grant. Just need to get a little bit better.
What is the story behind Garou? Is it like the SF Alpha series for SNK or is it it’s own franchise?

Mark of the wolves and last blade 2. Probably my favorite snk fighters. Beautiful 2d sprites, great music and fluid as hell gameplay. Love that they got re released on modern platforms

I've been playing since they announced Garou 2 was greenlit. It's great, there's always something new to learn and plays deliciously.
Garou is such a great game! I played it on the xbox 360...good times.
Garou 2 needs to go the third strike route and bring back 2-3 classic Fatal Fury fighters.
Bought this game for like $2 bucks and was so happy to dig into the mechanics that I didn't understand back when I had it on dreamcast in my childhood

Underrated? As far as I know, Mark of the Wolves is absolutely beloved by gamers.
The last blade games are so freaking good wish we got a third installment.
Picked this up for $2 on GOG and its been fun using my SNK 8bitdo wireless controller with it, Never been a fighting game person so this is basically my first real attempt at the genre and I gotta say even though I keep getting beat something wants me to go back and keep playing. Really good fun.

It can't possibly be underrated. I'm constantly hearing about it for years.
This game is the best. If it got that update that they cancelled and fixed the bugs it would have really become one of the all time greats. It was so ahead of its time.

From kabuki clash to ninja masters, breakers revenge, matrimelee, waku waku, karnov revenge. Less famous than the big series bit still very good fighting games

My 3rd favorite SNK fighting game after The Last Blade 2, and Samurai Shodown V Special.
I play it all the time! Most of my local friends hate it though. It's available on Steam. And PS4. It also has rollback netcode.

I used to play Hotaru and Kim Jae Hoon at my local arcade. Don't know the tiers, and I was better at CVS2, but I still had fun. Good times.

Supers in this game only have a couple frames of invincibility unfortunately. Just another of many quirks that makes it a brutal game. Also supers don't have special priority over all moves so can still trade often.

Both last blades are good. Sane sprite work as this game, it's predecessor style wise.
Btw are there no good Gato's or Butt's there? Was nasty with both, playing good players vs these characters is also nasty though 😂

I would say it’s not underrated but it’s surprising how many people don’t know about it.
First time played Mark Of The Wolves was more than two decades and first time played an SNK game was in 93 the year the AOF was released and Fatal Fury then in 94 KOF on arcade cabins and I got my pc in 96 and the first neo geo came out and I bought it I had all KOF till 99 ,Metal Slug 1 2 and X and 3 ,AOF 1,2a and 3, Samsho 1 2 ,3 and 4, mutation Nation etc... and now Justin is asking people to play the game lol ! Damn I feel like Takuma looking up to Yuri hahaha ! Who learned how to play fighting games on his own ? Cause I did ! I m a tough opponent even for Pro gamers sure they play very well and they will make me almost Rage quit lol ! But in the other hand I m gonna be a pain in the ass for them ! Cause I have played against some Pro gamers in my country and they beat me to shreds lol ! But I won some matches myself lol ! NB quickly switched to harder difficulties when I was a kid I realized easy difficulty is so boring and I had discovered that I was looking for a challenge more than fun when I play on easy mode in any game it s just cause I have to to unlock something or a trophy 🏆 lol , by the way you wanna raise your level at fighting games like reaction and stuff play Street Fighter X Tekken on hardest against Balrog and Vega team ! They play in a way you feel like you re playing Dragon Ball instead lol ! But I like it cause now my reaction is way quicker than it was ! Thank you for reading

Back in the day, people actually played Garou more than SF3. Third Strike started to be loved much later. Both are now considered by many to be the pinnacle of 2d fighting games.
Garou and 3.3 are still the best 2D fighting games

Another move I loved doing is with Kushnood Butt, you hold the punch button in while fighting and when you release he does the massive flame punch. It's blue if you release too soon, same with kick.

I had this on Dreamcast.. unfortunately it’s one of the few Dreamcast games I sold on eBay. But I think I did it because I got it on Xbox 360 marketplace.
