I think it’s actually because an immediately sharper pain takes over the pain processes.

When you drag the toy by the handle, a mechanism connected to the wheels causes the yellow section of the bottom of the bubble to move up, which causes the balls ot fly into the air.

I can explain this. Back when I was a wee lad, we had a toy that I now realize to be quite simple: A set of wheels on a handle, that caused a vertical pumping motion when the wheels turn. This pumping motion made a small piece of plastic in a container of little balls move, making the balls bounce around, creating fun noises and visuals. The joke is that this toy looked kinda like a segway.

Well, technically the knight does move in a straight line not a straight line forward or backward, but slightly diagonal lines are still straight.
