thank you so much for this tips,as a main aurelion soli wanted to change to smth more classic, and viktor is fun to play, and i'v learned in this video new things that i didnt learn solo in about 50 games,so thanks again
I'm finding that with the q-auto, you don't have to press a movement key. You can just spam right click on your enemy when attacking rather than just right clicking once, and it will still be fast. Doing the micro movement instead might still be the better practice mechanically, though.
Just started to pick up Viktor and this was super helpful. I did have a bad matchup with Heimer though, and I'm not quite sure what I needed to do since he's supposed to be an easy matchup. He was constantly pushed up and chunking my hp (granted, I should've dodged some of the skill shots), and his turrets just did too much damage when the jungler did come over to try and help (granted the jg didn't have a hard CC, which made things a bit harder. I would try to get closer to place a W so it'd stun, but I'd usually just end up geting chunked). Mid tower went down because I kept getting bullied out of lane too many times, and while I managed to get decent cs for the game we couldn't manage to turn things around
Generally you just get pushed in until you get your E upgrade, but there isn't really much he can do with that since his roams are weak and unless you contest the wave hard he can't ever kill you. After you get E upgrade it should be super easy to just spam push in waves and you outscale him.
@@ShokLeague Oh, I see. I honestly felt pretty useless but it's nice to know that being pushed in was something that just happens with Heimer. Thanks for the quick response!

Hey Shok, you're channel is amazing and is helping me out so much. What would you say is the best build path now that some of the items have been nerfed? @@ShokLeague exactly. The spamming of right click is what I was referring to but I was too tired when I made this comment😂 I could have explained better. Thanks for all the content!
Really nice guide. But there are also matchups that happens in mid and you forgot to add and they are: Brand, Diana, Graves, Karthus, Kayle, Kennen, Malphite (AP), Taliyah, Swain, Vel'Koz, and Vladimir and also on other guides as well. You can add them in the future guides if you want to, it's up to you. Tnx again for guide!
I feel like quite a lot of these are niche picks that are in maybe 1% or less of games. Not all, for example vel and vlad he should add. Majority of the others are rarely picked or seen
I definitely should've added Vlad and probably Graves too, but the other champs I see maybe less than once a season. I guess there's no harm in adding them though I'll add more next time!
hey so i have a question, regarding the all-in matchups, how do you survive the laning phase, especially against zed, and how do you get back ahead if you fall behind against those champions?
Mainly you just have to take a defensive summ like barrier/exhaust, go seekers if it's an AD all in champion and just try keep the wave sort of close to your tower and poke them out from range. If you do fall behind it can be hard to get back into the game but you do scale better and farm faster so you just have to try not to die anymore and keep your CS up.
You must learn ur distance management ad well, the moment you get too close a decent Zed will use his combo immediately. Learn the max range of your E, and play it steady.
I personally love going gathering storm over transcendence on Viktor if its a game that will definetly last at least 30 to 40 minutes, makes his already disgusting burst even more threatening over time.
Wow, that was a great video ! I’m looking for playing Viktor, but I’m still learning the game and it’s not a very popular champion. This guide has everything !
The beam has such high mouse speed when you aim it. Like 5 times faster than any other shit hehe. Also its wonky to cast when you run away from someone.
one question: if you go defensive item (zhonias or banshee) as your second item, what do you build next? do you choose one between shadowflame and lichbane (that you normally build second as you said) or one between rabadons and void staff (that you usually build third)? anyway, thanks for the vid
Hi! Just discovered the channel, great guide, I've been playing Viktor for a couple of months now as my new main. I have some questions to get some edge in the harder matchups. 1. Any tips for AD fighter lanes? Yone, Irelia, Yasuo I mean. They not only are very error-prone, but also frustrating, as you don't outscale the brothers that hard. Maybe Phase Rush? And what's the lane plan, do you try to crash wave 3? What summoners do you take? 2. I'm always going with Doran's. Could you try to more explicitely name the Corrupting Pot matchups. Can it help with Yone etc? 3. What's the keystone for artillery mages outranging you? I usually take Aery, as First Strike seems unreliable to proc. 4. Do you ever opt for tabis? 5. I often go 2nd item Rabadon when I'm huge. Is it suboptimal cause of it's passive? I don't like Lich Bane in general as I feel baited to proc the attack when I shouldn't, but I didn't feel the kick with Shadowflame, I might give it a shot tho. Thanks!
1. Try keep the wave in the middle or close to your tower which will make it hard for them to all in you, Yone and Yasuo are not that hard because they lack sustain early game so you can poke them out with Q auto and E poke. Irelia is very annoying though in this matchup basically just try farm. 2. Doran's gives more mana, but less hp sustain and also doesn't synergize with time warp tonic (because you don't have 3 corrupting charges each base for timewarp). Basically I take doran's vs most melees (Yone, Yas, Irelia etc) and the weaker early game ranged champs (Corki, Zilean, etc). Most ranged mids have lots of skillshots which means I take corrupting pot + timewarp which lets you sustain their poke and dodge skillshots. Especially important that you have corrupting + timewarp vs champs like Syndra, Orianna, Xerath, Lux etc. 3. Yeah I'd take aery, most artillery mages you can shit on in lane phase with aery as well and like you said first strike is somewhat unreliable vs them. 4. Not really, tabi's kinda suck for armor, they only really benefit you for reducing auto attacks but you're not often being auto attacked as Viktor because of your long range. If you need armor go seekers and/or zhonya's. 5. Rabadons second can be good, it's a later powerspike which can be detrimental but it's not a huge deal since needlessly large rods are good components. If you did want to rush Rabadons 2nd every game you should try get as much AP from other sources as possible such as absolute focus, gathering storm, dark seal, eyeball collection if you can get away with it etc. This will make sure you get the most benefit out of the Rabadons passive. Overall I think Shadowflame/Lich Bane is better, but if you optimize for Rabadon's second it's really good as well.
I just gave this Viktor a try and it went amazingly. I have some questions! In which scenarios would it be better to try First Trike? I'm guessing against melee characters or people who would be easy to proc it, but I'd rather be certain of it. Thanks for the in-depth guides! I reached Platinum as a jungler and I want to try laning 'cause I don't want to depend on my team's performance as much, so I'll be depending on your guides quite often :D!
I would say atm just take First Strike as your default unless you think you can hard win your lane in which case take Aery. Both are really good runes though
Perhaps I'm misunderstanding, but I think Aery is for easy matchups that you believe you can snowball. First Strike is better for scaling up faster and getting to your core items quickly.
Hello Shok, since this video was created quite a long time ago, I was just wondering, are runes/items/ability upgrades the same? or have they changed since the video upload?
Not many champions out damage Viktor late game, but champions with long range poke like Corki/Xerath can do well into Viktor late game, or champions like Kassadin that are too strong for Viktor to 1v1 in the side lane.
hmm personally I don't like ROA that much in soloq cause it slows you down too much. You can do it in assassin matchups but I don't like to default to it. Void second is good if they have MR but otherwise you'd get more damage from something else (rabadons 2nd or shadowflame or something)
@@ShokLeague tested shadowflame vs void, shadowflame barely outdamages it as a second item, but as you get into 4-5 items, void staff always deals more damage EVEN into squishy champs that dont build MR, the vision of the build is full-lategame ultrascale as for rabadons second, the components are too expensive and too inconsistent timing with backs and the whole item is 800 gold more expensive
I don't think you really need to buy tear at the moment, if you did it would be so you can build archangel second instead of Lichbane/cosmic/shadowflame
If you really want a bigger 2 item but weaker 3 item spike. So if the next dragon for example is really important or if the game itself is going to be short Shadowflame is probably better.
Hey Shok I like to play with mage champs Syndra, Victor, mostly i am winning my lane with them. But, sometimes other jungle, top lane being so overfed. Especially against the very mobile champs master Yi, talon, Camille, Kayn etc. i am struggling to carry games. Do you think what should I do in those situations? I am beginning to think climbing with playing just mages hard. Should i improve myself assassin champs for faster climb?
I think you could learn a champ or two to make it easier to vs those champs, like Vex or something. But most likely you just need to build differently or position better or just play better overall. It's kind of hard to say without more info but it sounds like Vex could be a really good fit for your situation.
Thank you for the answer, vex sounds like cool to my elo, i need to improve my champ pool. If you make a video about how should we play in hard winning matchups and how should we use our advantage in game. that would be so nice. Thank you very much for amazing guides 😊
Hello, I'm suffering against Neeko, I don't understand how to play against her. Sometimes it feels like you just need to max your E instead of Q and try to push the lane. And you can also buy a dematerializer to keep her out of roams. I would be very grateful for advice.
Just need to trade defensively until you have laser upgrade then you can spam push her in. She's really strong early game so as long as you don't die early you'll be in a really good spot
Not good vs Vlad imo because against a good vlad you won't be able to get through his sustain without aery/scorch. Cass could be an option though if you look for a level 3 all in or something. The keystone itself scales well but generally the other trees scale better (sorcery tree in particular).
You have any specific advice for Viktor top that’s really good to know? Or is it the same like mid? I love picking him too, because most top Laners don’t know how to deal with him
@@ShokLeague ya evolving Q first work much better, can escape ganks easier now! Which shoes would you recommend? Started with sorceres but meanwhile Switched to Mercurys and took ghost now with flash. Feels like escaping in early game is much easier with them. Thx for the comment even your vid is a few days older, much appreciated, on Abo more🍻
It's definitely good against tankier comps but against squishier comps Shadowflame/Lich Bane is probably gonna do more for you, archangel is solid too though
The 1v1 is doable, Fizz has really good gank setup though which makes playing post 6 pretty annoying, Zed kinda forces you to take defensive summoner/build armor which makes it harder for you to actually impact the game early.
Hey Shok. I saw the video. and you gave a good recommendion for items and and runes. but in your pro play game. you get tears (that you never mention in your item guide) how come?
Seraphs used to give a huge amount of AP (like 160 or something when fully stacked) and now in season 12 it doesn't give that much anymore. Simply put it's not worth buying anymore.
Start q and look to harass him with q autos making sure you don't get hit by his E. After the first few levels try make sure the wave is always at least in the middle or on your side. Save your W for when he goes into you, same with Ult. Honestly this matchup I'd even consider taking ignite as well since he needs to heal off you in melee range which will be reduced if you can ignite him beforehand.
Depends, electrocute ignite is much better for all ins but is less damage overall. If you think you can get a real spicy all in with elec ignite in your matchup go for it.
You listed malzahar as a free match up i just played against one and i struggled hard because his wave clear overwhelmed me hard what do i do to win this match up freely?
Try use your E in a way that kills his voidlings and hits him, he only has waveclear when his voidlings hit the wave other than that he basically has no push so try and kill them as soon as you can
Yeah Vlad can be annoying, focus on getting lost chapter and then just keep him shoved in with your wave clear, try not to waste too much mana before you get lost chapter cause he'll just outsustain you.
@@jamesmorseman3180 I dont agree with this. Viktor with aery scorch and tp absolutely shits on vlad in lane. Just take aery scorch, poke the shit out of him, base when your out of mana and then back to keep him stuck in lane, where you can dive him with jungle or move to river fights first. Ater you get E evolve you have a couple of seconds of tempo on vlad as you one shot the wave while it takes him a while to kill it.
Another question. Do you still go aery when you're in a hard winning matchup if you're in low elo (gold/plat). Or would in general first strike be better for scaling if games tend to be longer?
@@maguiregoated6929 Honestly I'd say still take Aery but it depends on you. You should be able to win lane harder in gold/plat. It's possible that first strike is higher winrate for you if the games go forever, but I think it would be better to just improve your laning and play what 'should' be optimal.
Question: What do you think about electrocute on Viktor? I tried it and it seems to work well, but I am playing in low plat elo, so mabye thats why. Anyway, very informative video, thank you.
It's decent but not as good as the others normally. I'd say the only time it really gets a lot of value is when you can combine it with ignite into some short range melee champ, so maybe like electrocute ignite vs sylas or something? I think otherwise aery will provide you with more damage. Also the red tree in general isn't as good as the sorcery/inspiration trees on Viktor so that's a factor too.
@@ShokLeague Oh ok, I understand. I like the agressivness of it in some easier match ups, paired with ignite as youve mentioned. But I will try to switch over to aery more then, since its more dmg + the sorcery tree. Thank you for such a quick reply.
@@ShokLeague From what I've noticed is, her invis and tumble make it hard to land the skill shot, and if you don't one shot her, she can kill you before you kill her bc she has no cds and does insane dmg. So now I just auto ban her.
I play with chat off completely! Pretty much any time I'm playing ranked I make sure to turn it off since it's just not worth it, and there really isn't much to be gained from it being on.
Maybe you just need to farm more? Or fall less behind early? Hard to say but if your problem is you don't feel like you do damage likely it's because you're not getting items early enough for various reasons.
If you're watching this in the future, default to First Strike as your keystone at the moment, but if you feel like you can crush your lane then go for Aery.

I don't think you really need to buy tear at the moment, if you did it would be so you can build archangel second instead of Lichbane/cosmic/shadowflame
When do you typically go shadow flame second item instead of lich bane?
If you really want a bigger 2 item but weaker 3 item spike. So if the next dragon for example is really important or if the game itself is going to be short Shadowflame is probably better.
you deserve greatness.
We all do king
@@lordsauronsregards5686 I definitely want to do some videos on landing for sure!
@@lordsauronsregards5686 Yeah for sure I want to do some laning videos!
@@ShokLeague Thanks i'll try!
Quick question : What is a mouvement command ? How does it work ? :) Love the video
Just any right click, basically when you click to move somewhere.
@@ShokLeague Yeah that's what i thought. I was overthinking :D Much tnx.
what do you think about electrocute? its feels really good vs short ranged champs like vlad/cass and i feel like it scales really well.
I love picking him too, because most top Laners don’t know how to deal with him
Mainly you just have to play to kite a lot more. It can also be good to evolve your Q before E in top lane.
@@ShokLeague ya evolving Q first work much better, can escape ganks easier now! Which shoes would you recommend? Started with sorceres but meanwhile Switched to Mercurys and took ghost now with flash. Feels like escaping in early game is much easier with them.
Thx for the comment even your vid is a few days older, much appreciated, on Abo more🍻
@@mrscapegoat8804 Yeah mercs or seekers could both be good early buys top lane depending on what you're vs. Ghost/exhaust sound good too.
Can you make a new video for the new season? sicne items has been nerfed and such?
Yeah I might make an updated version
aniva next sensei
hi bro! how are you? what do you think about taking phase rush? i think it's still okay on viktor!
Hey mate, talked about phase rush at 7:00!
Hey, is there any reason why I wouldn't want to use archangels? imo, i think that you get a lot of use from it
It's definitely good against tankier comps but against squishier comps Shadowflame/Lich Bane is probably gonna do more for you, archangel is solid too though
@@ShokLeague Thanks! I'll keep it in mind.
what do you think about second tree abselute focus and gathering storm?
Yeah it can be good
@@ShokLeague ty!
hi i find fizz and zed very doable with electrocute is taht cuz im gold and they arent good enough?
+barier or ignite
The 1v1 is doable, Fizz has really good gank setup though which makes playing post 6 pretty annoying, Zed kinda forces you to take defensive summoner/build armor which makes it harder for you to actually impact the game early.
Are there any cookie cutter liandry builds you'd recommend?
Simply put it's not worth buying anymore.
this guide works actually? and viktor is a good mid champion to main in season 12?
Ye Viktor is good imo
I struggle vs Sylas. I see he was in your easy match ups. Any tips on how to beat him in lane phase?
Start q and look to harass him with q autos making sure you don't get hit by his E. After the first few levels try make sure the wave is always at least in the middle or on your side. Save your W for when he goes into you, same with Ult. Honestly this matchup I'd even consider taking ignite as well since he needs to heal off you in melee range which will be reduced if you can ignite him beforehand.
@@ShokLeague thanks for the response and insight!
Reddit says lichbane is bad now. Thoughts?
Yeah shadowflame 2nd better most of the time
how about electrocute with ignite on viktor if you know you can win, or is summon aery better?
Depends, electrocute ignite is much better for all ins but is less damage overall. If you think you can get a real spicy all in with elec ignite in your matchup go for it.
Thanks king
nah, this is Shok, K1ng moved to NA
You listed malzahar as a free match up i just played against one and i struggled hard because his wave clear overwhelmed me hard what do i do to win this match up freely?
Try use your E in a way that kills his voidlings and hits him, he only has waveclear when his voidlings hit the wave other than that he basically has no push so try and kill them as soon as you can
Wow, thanks for the amazing guide! I always struggle as viktor when im playing against Vladimir, could you help me out?
Yeah Vlad can be annoying, focus on getting lost chapter and then just keep him shoved in with your wave clear, try not to waste too much mana before you get lost chapter cause he'll just outsustain you.
Don’t ever trade and just farm, Id say it’s a more or less neutral lane and you both scale so it’s a pretty even matchup.
Where have the streams been?
COMING SOON
What about Seraph's Embrace on Viktor? I've seen that Apdo (Dopa) build it and some of pro players also P:
Decent option but not as good as the others, Seraph's has only been built once out of almost 50 pro Viktor games in season 12.
what do u think about lich bane buff on 12.2 patch should viktor go it 2nd item?
Yea I think so
Are there any major changes for actual patches?
Do you build ludens against an artillery mage or rather crown?
Probably ludens, because an artillery mage is going to constantly proc your crown shield and you won't get to use it.
Are these build paths still optimal?
What about Horizon focus after u get ur w evolve?
Eh it's decent, just inferior to other options.
viktor top is strong? Have a different game style?
Think it's decent, but haven't played it personally.
you people are really making it hard for us viktor one tricks....
vayne is impossible to deal with in my games with victor. Just cant fight her.
You should be able to if you're not behind, Viktor is pretty good vs adcs
@@ShokLeague From what I've noticed is, her invis and tumble make it hard to land the skill shot, and if you don't one shot her, she can kill you before you kill her bc she has no cds and does insane dmg. So now I just auto ban her.
q and movement command whatt do you mean?
Just press q then right click the ground like you would to move, then auto attack and it'll make the q slightly faster.
Ori next?
Definitely on the way!
Do yo offer 1 on 1 coaching?
Haven't done in a while, it might change in the future though and I guess I'll make a channel announcement if it does.
What do you usually do when you have a very toxic teammate who is just talking trash all the time .I find it very sad honestly
I play with chat off completely! Pretty much any time I'm playing ranked I make sure to turn it off since it's just not worth it, and there really isn't much to be gained from it being on.
I dont know why, everbody says Viktor is strong this season......but i feel so weak when playing him and feel more a supp 😓
Maybe you just need to farm more? Or fall less behind early? Hard to say but if your problem is you don't feel like you do damage likely it's because you're not getting items early enough for various reasons.
