They're no longer thinking rationally, everybody's stressed and scared to kingdom come so much that they immediately went back to their roots of training "Captain killed = Arrest perpetrator." They can't see things clearly anymore, then again Kyne turned his back with the crew too busy to see Kyne preparing the medication. Tbh it bothers me a bit.
Those two were the first and second officer, so my guess is their “change of heart” was in fact an attempt to save face. The moment Kyne declared Mathius unfit for duty, White, the first officer, became acting captain and was therefore now responsible for the safety of everyone on the ship. As Mathius died under his command, he was likely desperate to deflect the blame on Kyne.
In Downfall. Mathius goes on a tangent about the two, along with the other Unitologists, being placed there by the church directly to seize the marker right before his death. I feel like that interpretation was easily the best. As, paired with the marker’s effects on everyone’s sanity, it gave a viable enough reason to be suspicious of Kyne.
What kills it for me is the fact that they use the generic male NPCs that you found throughout the game for chic and the other guy instead of making them accurate This and Kyne's appearance are my only gripes with this masterpiece of an game
One thing I like about Dead Space Lore is the player themself could also be "hallucinating" certain pieces of information? Seems like an avenue that might be explored in later entries if they continue to REMAKE the franchise.
I will say this scene does look better than the original it looked like he barely touched him in the original and went into his eyes but if you’ve seen the movie Dead Space Downfall you could feel and see the intensity that the Captain was going bat shit crazy and basically it looked like Dr Kyne had to just use the needle for self defense
The actors really made a good job the only thing that l dont understand is why in this version is on the captain nest instead of the bridge but l still like it anyway
If you look closely at the original version, you'll see it occurs in the captain's nest as well (in fact, there's even a blood stain on the floor, right where he died). You're probably thinking of the version in the movie, which seems to combine the nest with the atrium of the bridge.
I do admit I still get a few Laughs hearing Jim cummings voice captain Mathius as I never thought he would so something like Dead space as the Guy has done Disney and Sonic so something like this I never thought he would do
I never get that bullshit change of heart form these two guys after the captain dies. It was clearly an accident.

@@Lyzokielon top of stress the marker is affecting everyone’s ability to rationally sort through their own thoughts

Or when a parent breaks their console
When Kyne ran away, I imagined one the guards would say, "Hey! Come back here, you little shit!"
